## What is Depth of Field?

Apertia is a depth of field calculator for iPhone: set your camera, lens, aperture and focus distance, and it shows the near and far limits of sharpness, the total depth of field and the hyperfocal distance at once.

SHOT PLAN
• Say what must be sharp: the nearest and the farthest point
• Apertia gives you the focus distance and the f-stop that hold both
• When one frame can't, it plans a focus stack: how many shots, where to focus each one and what each covers
• Stacking apertures stay clear of diffraction, and every plan is kept in a plan notebook
• Give a plan a shoot day and get an optional reminder that morning, set on your iPhone

SEE THE SHARP ZONE
• Turn knurled lens rings for aperture, focal length and focus distance
• A side-view diagram draws the sharp zone, the hyperfocal point and infinity as you turn
• Near limit, far limit, total depth of field and hyperfocal distance in meters or feet
• Thin-lens formulas, the same model behind the depth of field scales on lenses

YOUR CAMERA, YOUR NUMBERS
• Seven sensor formats built in: full frame, APS-C, Canon APS-C, Micro Four Thirds, 1-inch, medium format and the iPhone main camera
• Each has its own circle of confusion; the crop factor and angle of view sit next to your lens
• A strict CoC option halves it for large prints
• Save a camera body and lens as a kit, and Apertia remembers the last setting of each

BOKEH PREVIEW
• Portrait, landscape and street scenes blurred layer by layer with the real blur-disc size for your settings
• Turn the aperture ring to compare f/1.8 and f/8 before you shoot

HYPERFOCAL TABLE (PRO)
• Every common focal length and aperture for your sensor in one table
• Cells past the diffraction limit are faded, so you know where the whole frame goes soft
• Tap a cell to set that lens and aperture and focus at its hyperfocal distance

A/B COMPARE (PRO)
• Pin one setting as B, change the other and keep both sharp zones on the diagram

PRIVATE AND OFFLINE
No account and no sign-up. Your kits and plans stay on your iPhone and Apertia works offline; it goes online only to check App Store purchases.

FREE AND PRO
Free: the depth of field and hyperfocal calculator, the side-view diagram, one saved kit, one shot plan a day and the bokeh aperture ring, with no time limit.
Pro: unlimited shot plans, the full bokeh preview with scene, subject and background distance, the hyperfocal table, unlimited kits and A/B compare.
