I setup the kiosk using an older iPad that was scheduled for disposal and it works great even with an older iOS. I like that the "start screen" has the news feed that employees can see before they log in/out. The only thing that gave me trouble was the camera, it had difficulty taking pictures until I got it in perfect lighting conditions which may not always be possible depending on your business. Perhaps Deputy can offer an option to manually take the photo if the auto-detection does not work. I'm also not sure if there is a timeout option if an employee does not logout, that would be cool for forgetful students. The other option is that if the iPad is turned off it would logout the person also? Those are just some small ideas but could potentially be helpful, other than those small things I have really enjoyed the kiosk! ### 5/5 — Constant Improvement *2017-01-25, version 2.0.15* Is not just that the app is great, but also that they are constantly improving it. Timesheets sync with Xero seamlessly and Deputy is one of the few apps which ACTUALLY SAVES YOU MONEY! I love using it and everyone in the team constantly praise how quick and easy Deputy is. We use iPads for the majority of our payment transactions on a daily basis, so it only made sense to look for a time tracking and scheduling solution that was also compatible with iPad. We spent nearly 2 years using a much simpler time clock app that covered the basics of clocking in and out, but syncing across all of our devices was not reliable, and I often had to adjust times for our employees. It also lacked scheduling, communication, and task list features. When the company decided to raise their prices without introducing any new features, I knew it was time to look elsewhere. I then spent several months trying just about every time clock app I could find that was also compatible with iPad. I wasted a lot of time creating trial accounts, only to find major software limitations or ridiculously high monthly pricing for our needs. Nothing seemed like the right fit for our business. The Deputy suite of apps and software, however, stands out from the rest in a lot of important ways. First of all, it just works. Syncing works across all of our devices immediately. I have not noticed a single glitch with regards to timesheets since I have been using the app. Their customer service is top notch. I have had a few questions regarding functionality and features that are different from our previous time clock solution, and the support team has provided an answer to each question within just a few minutes. Scheduling was extremely easy, and now our employees are more informed as to when they are working. They also have the ability to create reminders for themselves so that they don't miss a shift. We haven't used task lists yet, but I think there is a lot of potential there for increased productivity and communication. And one of the most important features, in my opinion, is the team communication with the ability to leave company announcements. Announcements can be made anytime from anywhere regarding sales, holidays, performance, responsibilities, etc. Now we don't have to search out and speak to each employee about an event because announcements are visible to everyone as soon as they clock in. Also, employees can download the Deputy app on their smartphone for clocking in and out, checking their schedule, requesting time off, etc. As with all programs, there is still room for improvement. I would like to see less limitations across the entire system (i.e. more integrations with less restrictions, more employee/area customization, and more scheduling features) as well as an easier workflow for submitting and approving timesheets (i.e. bulk approve all employees, allow future timesheets, etc.). Timesheets are probably the most unattractive feature on the entire system and just haven't been implemented very well in my opinion, neither in the app nor on the Web. Employees can't even check the number of hours they have worked each week from within the app. Other than some small things, Deputy has a lot of great features for small to medium-sized businesses, offers reasonable pricing, great customer service, and like I already said, just works! ### 5/5 — Simply great! *2016-01-08, version 2.0.11* Deputy Kiosk combined with Deputy is all we need to managed our team! No more paper work for recording shifts and hours. We were anxious that the team will not want to use it but from day one they love it and using all available features. It is well executed just like the rest of the Deputy service and the companion app that allows clocking in and out remotely from a worker’s device. What’s nice about all of the clock-in and out functions is that you can set specific work locations and see where the time clock activity happens on a map. ### 5/5 — A leap forward in productivity *2015-09-14, version 2.0.10* I switched over to Deputy 6 months ago and with the use of Deputy Kiosk it has made the time keeping of employees hours a breeze. Gone are the days of counter signing time sheets, manually adding up hours and the headache of working out the right penalties. The cloud based feature is fantastic as i can construct, amend & publish from anywhere which gives me greater freedom with my time. The other feature i love is if a staff member texts me during the night because they are unwell for work i can make their shift open and just wait for notification from another staff member to take that shift. I hardly even need to wake up do do this. Awesome!! ### 5/5 — Love Kiosk *2015-09-10, version 2.0.9* We use deputy kiosk in our kitchen and city store and soon in all our stores and find that it is a great way to track our staffs movements, send messages to the whole team, our managers use it to record staff chats and training ,we convert timesheets straight from staffs log ins and upload straight into our accounting package.We love the clock in and out pictures (the staff have made it their mission to pull mad shapes) and it really has brought a lot of accuracy to our payroll. The costing of rosters is now a breeze! I don’t know what we would do without it. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 3/5 — Not bad Ned's some work though *2015-11-22, version 2.0.11* No sure if this is the right forum for this post but I've tested deputy in our work environment and If it's time and attendance your after then this is pretty good. There are a few annoyances which you have to be aware of but they say that are developing the software more. Eg if you have a location where certain training is required and you schedule an employee but they don't have the necessary training then they can still publish the sifts except the user can start their shift. Also copy shifts from week to week is a great feature but there is no way to copy an entire month or more than one week at a time. The support team are quick to respond to my queries. The interface is clean and I have not experience any major issues. Occasionally when you delete a shift the shift doesn't go away so you usually have to log off completely. Also deputy training video would be good ### 4/5 — Simple, intuitive, effective *2017-08-07, version 2.0.18* So far our staff have had no troubles using the Kiosk. (Aside from the normal “I forgot to clock in or out” issues that arise with any system. ) Its intuitive and simple and very effective in that it saves me time and hassle at payroll time. The web based system and iPad kiosk save us time and because it's paperless it saves us money. It allows us to communicate with staff, do rosters and time sheets and it integrates with our payroll/accounting software. Great system that can be used in all businesses. We have been doing kiosk time sheets and paper timesheetsside side by side for several months in order to get staff to used to it. We are about to go electronic only. Could I suggest the inclusion of ability to make a note when starting a shift ie if you are late or were called in early. You can do this in the comments section when ending a shift but I cant seem to find this ability when starting a shift. The timesheets export really easil;y to Xero. This was one of the main features I was interested in. I was actually very surprised at how well this feature works. We discovered Deputy through website review and the fact that it would report directly to our Payroll Software and eliminate the endless paper time sheets and then re-enterinhg that data into our payroll system.
