## What is Derd?

Derd is a calm, private prayer companion. Prayer times are calculated entirely on your device using the Diyanet (Turkey) method — no account, no ads, no tracking, and we have no server — your location never reaches us.

• A live countdown to the next prayer — on your Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets, and in the Dynamic Island.
• Ramadan mode — automatic iftar and suhoor countdowns.
• A Qibla compass — bring the Kaaba marker to the notch at the top of the dial; the screen warms as you get closer, then glows and vibrates gently when you are aligned.

• How to pray — 30 step-by-step guides, from ablution to the funeral prayer, from the five daily prayers to the voluntary ones, following the Hanafi (Diyanet) school. The recited texts appear in Arabic with transliteration and source. (The explanations themselves are currently written in Turkish.)
• A full monthly prayer-times table for your location.
• Upcoming Islamic days and nights, with Gregorian and Hijri dates.
• A tasbih (dhikr) counter with gentle haptics.
• "What do you need?" — a second way into the library, by need: gratitude, distress, anxiety, protection, forgiveness, family, exams, healing, provision, debt, travel, sleep. Every need has at least one dua open to everyone.

Everything above is free. No ads, no tracking, no account.

Derd Plus (optional) — a dua and dhikr library:
A library of duas and dhikr, the 99 Names of Allah, and 12 guides to the blessed days and nights — Arabic text with transliteration, Turkish meanings and a source reference. Available monthly, yearly, or as a one-time lifetime unlock; subscriptions start with a 7-day free trial. Prayer times, qibla, the monthly table, religious days, tasbih, notifications and widgets stay free without Plus.

Madhab (Asr) preference, per-prayer time fine-tuning, travel mode and adhan notifications are all in Settings. Designed for iPhone.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.3.0 — 2026-09-08

• How to pray — 30 guides, from ablution to the funeral prayer; every step in order, with the Arabic and its transliteration. Hanafi (Diyanet) school, free. (Explanations are in Turkish for now.)
• The library now includes what is recited within the prayer: al-Fatiha, Subhanaka, at-Tahiyyat, the salawat, the qunut supplications, the tasbih of bowing and prostration, and the short suras.
• The Qibla screen was reworked: a fixed target notch at the top of the dial, an arc pointing the way to the Kaaba, and a screen that warms as you get closer.
• A short tour of the five tabs on first launch (skippable at any time), and a one-line description of each tab in Help.
• The sky colour now turns by itself the moment a prayer time arrives — while the app is open and when you come back to it.
• "What do you need?" — a second way into the library, by need. Twelve needs: gratitude, distress, anxiety, protection, forgiveness, family, exams, healing, provision, debt, travel, sleep. Every need has at least one dua open to everyone.
• A new look — the background, the horizon glow and the accent colour now come from the current prayer; six skies from suhoor to isha. Widgets and the Lock Screen read the same colour.
• One card on the Today screen that changes each day: a Qur'anic verse (Arabic, Turkish meaning and reference), a Name of Allah, or a note about the day.
• A new app icon.
• Adhan notifications no longer stop quietly — they are rescheduled even if you don't open the app for a while.
• The widget keeps up when you travel; it refreshes as soon as your location changes.
• "Restore purchases" now tells you when the problem is the connection.
• The religious-days list stays full going forward; the Regaip date was corrected.
• A free sample from every library section and every need.
• Three more rows fit on the monthly times screen; the month arrows and a few buttons are much easier to hit.
• VoiceOver: the tasbih can be counted, the qibla is spoken.
• Battery: the Today screen refreshes once a minute instead of once a second.

### 1.2.1 — 2026-09-02

• The whole library is now fully vowelled — Arabic texts show harakat alongside transliteration. Quranic texts were written from a canonical mushaf and verified against it.
• Search and category filters in the library; tap a dhikr to start counting it on the tasbih.
• A redesigned tasbih — beads now travel along a curve like a real one, and lap progress shows as a ring around the counter.
• The "today's guide" line on the Today screen is now visible to everyone.
• Monthly prayer times now show the Hijri month, holy-day marks, and emphasis on imsak/maghrib.
• The religious-days tab now opens with a line tied to today, plus a year divider.
• Qibla: when no compass is available, the bearing and how to find it are shown anyway.
• Fixed the plan list on the subscription screen; locked content now says what it unlocks.
• The app is now available in Indonesian.
• Various fixes and improvements.

### 1.2.0 — 2026-08-31

• Derd Plus — a dua and dhikr library: 111 duas and dhikr, the 99 Names of Allah, and 12 guides to the blessed days and nights, each with Arabic text, transliteration, Turkish meaning and a source. New content every month.
• A Dhikr tab — the tasbih counter now sits alongside the library, with one section open to everyone.
• Tap a religious-day card to open its guide: what the day is, how it is observed, and the duas that belong to it.
• "Today's guide" on the Today screen — a calm nudge when a holy night, the White Days, Friday, or a Monday/Thursday fast is near.
• Prayer times, qibla, the monthly table, religious days, tasbih, notifications and widgets remain free.
• Various improvements and fixes.

### 1.1.0 — 2026-08-30

• A real adhan sound in notifications now — turn it on or off in Settings.
• Time fine-tuning — shift each prayer minute by minute to match your local mosque.
• Travel mode — prayer times now follow your device's time zone automatically.
• Now in English, Arabic, Persian and Urdu, with full right-to-left support.
• The Qibla now glows softly when you're facing it, and you can count your tasbih by swiping — just like real prayer beads.
• Custom dhikr sets and extra accent-color themes — all free.
• Various improvements and fixes.
