## What is Derekh Learning?

Nothing to catch up on. Open Derekh Learning and today's reading is already explained, in whichever of 16+ learning voices actually speaks to you, at a depth your day has room for.

Every morning, Derekh Learning prepares a fresh lesson on the day's reading: Daf Yomi, the weekly parsha, the Daily Rambam, and more. Every lesson is grounded in real sources from Sefaria's open library, with inline citations you can tap to check. Pick a depth: about three minutes on the way out the door, or up to thirty if tonight's the night to sit with it. You even pick the hour your daily lesson arrives.

Ask a follow-up and Chevruta, the built-in study partner, answers with citations that open right in the app. Ask it something that is really a question for your rabbi and it will teach you the sources, then tell you honestly that a personal ruling deserves a rabbi, not an app. Lesson-scope Chevruta is free (4 questions a day, 10 a week). Asking across an entire path or the whole of Torah is a Pro feature.

Sixteen-plus teaching voices carry the same source through different registers: Beginner, Expert, Jewish Parent, Startup Mensch, and more. They aren't difficulty tiers, just different ways of hearing the same page explained. Pro subscribers can build a custom voice of their own and pick a color theme for the whole app.

Beyond the daily lesson: a Sefaria-verified Siddur with each blessing's classical source and a practical guide to how and when it's said, a Hebrew calendar, zmanim for your exact location, a gematria calculator that works offline, a Judaism 101 library, and a free printable Shabbat Table discussion guide every week, plus holiday guides.

Life doesn't stop for a streak, and Shabbat never breaks one. A missed Saturday doesn't count against you, and a missed weekday gets banked, not broken. Chazara brings past lessons back on a spaced-review schedule so what you learned actually stays. Derekh for Life offers day-by-day journeys for mourning, bar and bat mitzvah, a wedding, a new baby, and the season of teshuvah. Free to enroll. And when you carry a yahrzeit, record it once: Derekh Learning keeps the Hebrew date every year and reminds you a week ahead and the day before.

Derekh Learning doesn't replace a rabbi, a teacher, or a community. It's a way to open the page before you get to any of them.

Your path. Your voice. Every day.

This is one of the best Torah learning apps I’ve used and has truly become part of my daily routine. The lessons are insightful, engaging, and thoughtfully organized, making them easy to follow whether you’re just beginning your Jewish learning or have been studying for years. I especially appreciate how the app makes Torah study feel accessible, meaningful, and inspiring without ever being overwhelming. It fits seamlessly into a busy schedule while encouraging consistent daily learning and a deeper connection to Judaism. Beautifully designed, easy to navigate, and filled with valuable content, it’s a wonderful resource that I wholeheartedly recommend to anyone looking to grow in their Torah knowledge and strengthen their Jewish journey.

### 5/5 — Wonderful and important resource

*2026-02-17*

This has become a part of my daily routine already. I’ve always wanted to learn more about my faith but found existing resources and teachers inaccessible. Now I can study at my own level and at my own pace. Highly recommend for busy people who want to find time for study or those who are just curious about our traditions.

### 5/5 — Great Quality!!

*2026-02-08*

Very easy to set up a lesson! The app feels very smooth and works very well. Can’t wait to keep learning with it!

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.1.6 — 2026-08-09

One Library now holds everything you've made here: saved lessons, notes, reflections, and Chevruta conversations, side by side in the same place. Review lives in Chazara, every holiday lives in one hub with its At Your Table guide pinned on top, and Home leads with a single Resume card that knows where you left off.

Also in this update:

• A Yahrzeit companion. Record it once and Derekh Learning carries the Hebrew date every year, with a reminder a week ahead and the day before. Private to you.
• Reflections now save reliably to your Journal.
• Holiday reminders arrive again, tied to each holiday's real date, and holidays open instantly.
• Commentary reads better: grouped by commentator, with Sefaria's own summary on each parsha.
• Reading screens respect your text size settings throughout.
• Crash fixes and stability improvements.

Something look off? Tell us from any lesson's overflow menu. We read every report.

### 1.1.5 — 2026-08-01

Derekh Learning is now on Mac. The full app, with sidebar navigation, resizable reading panes, and your same account, library, and streak. Start the daf on the train, finish it at the desk.

Also in this update:

• Zmanim the way you keep them. Candle lighting is no longer fixed at 18 minutes — set your own offset, and choose your havdalah, posek, alos, tzais, Rabbeinu Tam, and earliest tallit and tefillin. Every opinion we can calculate is now listed, and another city's times finally show on that city's clock.
• Yahrzeit. Record it once and it's carried every year, with a reminder a week ahead and again the day before, what the day asks with its sources, and one tap into learning in their memory. Where the halacha is a genuine machloket — which Adar in a leap year, a 30 Cheshvan or 30 Kislev date in a year with no 30th — we ask you instead of deciding for you.
• The Siddur is open to everyone: blessings and prayers across six nusachim, Sefaria-verified, each with its classical source and a practical guide to how and when it's said.
• Derekh for Life: free day-by-day journeys for mourning, bar and bat mitzvah, a wedding, a new baby, and teshuvah — now written for your role rather than for everyone at once.
• Your chevruta can ask you. Choose the direction: ask your question, or answer one and hear how it landed. Conversations run up to four exchanges now, and free daily questions go from two to four. Sources open in-app, and personal halachic questions still get an honest "bring it to your rabbi."
• Chazara works offline, and each review opens with a real question drawn from your own flashcards — so you find out what you remember before you see the answer.
• Daily Drive: today's lesson, the Daf Companion, the gematria, and A Word of Torah as one playlist that plays end to end from the lock screen or CarPlay.
• A home screen that notices. Suggestions for the depth and the reminder time that fit how you actually learn, worked out entirely on your device, and a Sunday look back at the week.
• Streaks are now Shabbat-safe. A missed Shabbat never breaks your streak, and the Friday reminder arrives before candle-lighting.
• Pick the hour your daily lesson arrives. Free for everyone.
• App color themes (Pro) and a full dark-mode readability pass.
• Audio: scrubbing on free narration, and a sleep timer that ends with the lesson.
• A fresh navy-and-gold look, VoiceOver labels across the app, and fixes throughout.

Something look off? Tell us from any lesson's overflow menu. We read every report.
