My only question is why they save 10 editions when I ask for the minimum of 3. *2022-11-20, version 3.6.13* Also why do they ask me to sign in multiple times and to pick out stop lights etc. which is a nuisance! ### 5/5 — Coffee and The Desert Sun *2022-07-07, version 3.3.10* First thing in the morning I grab my coffee and the Desert Sun on line for a quick review of local and National news. I especially like reading the editorials and opinions that deal with our valley’s issues. I find reading on line is quick, easy, and I don’t have to wash my hands like I do when I read the paper copy. Always appreciate fair and balanced opinions. I’m far more likely to read an entire article in the app than I would be with the physical paper. No page turning necessary, no distraction from other articles as I read through the story. This is totally the opposite to my husband’s newspaper reading preferences. He’s old school. My only exception: the Sunday funnies are a must-read on paper! ### 5/5 — Print edition *2022-02-09, version 3.3.10* I am shocked I like it so much. I read it on my IPad, it’s easy, comfortable and no paper to toss. I email the puzzles to me daily, I need to do the crosswords. I know I would not like sitting and reading it on my computer, but it’s perfect on my IPad. I appreciate being able to keep up with local news. ### 5/5 — Not User Friendly *2021-11-22, version 3.3.10* I am accustomed to using apps that require little effort, this one however, is the opposite. The Los Angeles Times iPad app is a breeze as is The Wall Street Journal. Neither require instructions. Just go to an article and read. This App however is just not user friendly and requires lots of effort to read articles. My only complaint is the difficulty in reading the comics . Sometimes the words are blurry. ( they also need to look at expanding their comic section. I have the latest IPad Air. The eNewspaper does not open. It does in the iPhone, but who want to read the Enewspaper on an iPhone. Who mows when they are fixing that issue, hopefully before my subscription expire. ### 1/5 — Zero Customer Service *2020-12-04, version 3.2.40* Have been using this app for years without problem. Now, suddenly, I can’t log in. I’ve deleted the app and reinstalled it several times, and continue getting a message to call or email Customer Service. I emailed 4 times and each time the unhelpful response was contact Customer Service. In one reply I was told that I had a confirmed PAID subscription, so that isn’t the issue. It’s the app. So , if you enjoy zero Customer Service assistance and an app that no longer works, you’re in luck with this junk. Canceling subscription now. ### 1/5 — App hanging and crashing *2019-12-17, version 2.9.10* Recent performance deterioration with iOS updates. The app frequently freezes up while trying to scroll through an article or select a different article. I’ve given up and canceled my subscription until the app is updated. I emailed the paper’s editor and she acknowledged that they were aware of the problem. She said that with the recent takeover of Gannett by another corporation, resources have not been put into technical fixes like this, but she promised that she will keep up pressure on them to address it. ### 1/5 — Latest iOS Update - App Now Freezes *2019-11-22, version 2.9.10* The Desert Sun Print Addition App now regularly freezes and is unusable on iPads after the last iOS update (version 13.2). Clearing the iPad cache, restarting the app, restarting the iPad, and even deleting and downloading the app do not resolve the freezing problem. This has made the app unusable and the Desert Sun e-edition subscription worthless. ### 1/5 — Cannot log in *2019-01-19, version 2.9.10* Ditto other bad reviews I cannot log in. Try to log in via Facebook, then this app prompts for more info. Add in name and says already signed up, try again. So I try and ditto. Someone with app dev and UI experience needs to take a serious look at this. Same problem as has been reported last year!! ### 1/5 — I can't get it to work on the iPad *2017-02-07, version 2.6.49* I downloaded the app and started with making an account. That worked, but it goes nowhere. When you try to log in, it just stays on the log on page. If you go to the issues page you can see the images of the newspapers but selecting one just takes you back to the log on page. Everything else shows a blank screen with the exception of the help page. ### 2/5 — Disappointing *2020-10-08, version 3.2.40* I have two iPad Pros. I don’t have the freezing problem on the older iPad but do on the new one. They are running thr same iOS version so I have no idea why that would be. The way they r now, I have to print more content than just the puzzle using up a lot of expensive ink. Also, I wish it came out earlier. Much better than having paper all over ### 4/5 — Support local newspapers *2022-11-20, version 3.6.13* Having lived in Palm Springs for 20 years I have seen improvements in The Desert Sun under Julie M tenure. Better in-depth research articles ( Salton, Sea, proposed lithium plants, immigration at border, etc). Love the added staff diversity. I like the staff diversity. My one beef, I was able to send an occasional article to a friend. That capability now seems disabled. Thank you for asking! Love that I can easily pick up on an article that I left off with! No more excess recycling! It’s there when I’m ready! I can also look back on previous papers. The font can be enlarged! Yes it offers crossword puzzles too, including adds. No hassles of temporary stopping papers due to going out of town. Love reading the comics for a good laugh! Everyone needs that once in a while! If need be, customers can cancel anytime.
