It’s fairly easy and simple. I can’t bring myself to give it five stars because; Inflation is rampant! The cost of a small plot of land can rise quickly to over 2 million each. ( along with everything else.). The need for GOLD is overwhelming. ( not as bad as your other versions). It’s difficult/ impossible to earn enough gold without making in app purchases. ( I love the red dragon. He helps.) I’ve played the other versions of the games and this is the only one I recommend. The graphics are much better, there are a lot of different buildings, and there are workarounds for most of the gold required buildings. I love how there are no ads, no annoying pop ups and how it has a theme. It would be cool to see an easier way to get gold, and maybe lessen how much each piece of land is. I’m about to run out of challenges so I’m not sure what is next but I do enjoy moving buildings around and making new cities. I hope they come out with a new game, I’ve tried playing the other games that are available but they don’t hit like this one does. I actually wish the aquatic city was more like mermaid themed and the colors were 10x more vibrant. Maybe work on your colors. Not everything is so bland! I love being super Creative and building cities, I built a German Quarter out of the New Materials and House textures. I do have one suggestion to make this Game more Fun. Add Wars and Battles and Soldiers and Warships. I think it would make this game more Appealing to people who would buy it, and since your Game is based off of Ancient Roman/Medieval Style Architecture, and Wars were super Common in those ages, I think it would be awesome to add Battles and Wars, and even Factions. As long as you have enough money, you can build whatever you want, wherever you want. The creativity is endless. The cost of buildings is affordable. There are many ways to collect gold coins and there aren’t many buildings that require gold to build. Easy game that can take me forever to play without getting bored. They’re just gone and the option to turn them back on isn’t even showing up now I would give a 5 star rating but if I can’t figure out what is happening I’m going to delete the game **Developer response:** “It looks like you switched the filter to ‘money only’, which hides all gold buildings. Nothing has actually vanished. Totally understand the confusion, but this isn’t a game issue. Since you’ve enjoyed the game enough to support it, we’d appreciate updating the rating to the 5 stars you mentioned. If you need help with settings, our support team can guide you quickly. ### 1/5 — Awful *2025-10-04* If you are as OCD as me, you wouldn’t like the app. You have to place community buildings everywhere but with few options they don’t match the designs of all of the different houses and commercial. Example… You can have a section of Asian style houses and commerce buildings for an area but then the education only comes in renaissance buildings, so it looks off. For the last six months, no buildings have been added. Try Designer City, much better. **Developer response:** Empire City 2 is intentionally medieval by design — there are no Asian or Renaissance buildings because it’s not that era. Community buildings are optional but they do boost happiness, productivity and increase city income. The choice is entirely yours though. Most people don’t play “awful” games for over a year, so that 1★ rating feels more than a little misplaced. ### 1/5 — Missing AD Rewards *2025-08-04* Now, it’s 8 times you have stolen a ad reward from me! I’m deleting this game! If I’m watching ads to unlock land I expect to receive the return and 7 times in 2 weeks I have not been given the land I’m watching videos to obtain. If you’re going to make people watch ads give them the reward they are owed! This right here is why I never spend real money on app games! You get no real value. **Developer response:** This claim is incorrect. Our ad rewards are handled by a proven automated system — when an ad finishes, the reward is granted instantly and logged. Ads are entirely optional, and if an ad ever fails to confirm, we gift the land manually because we’d rather you keep playing. A 1-star review won’t resolve anything, but support can. ### 1/5 — Not like the other Designer City games *2023-10-09, version v1.09* They make it harder to grow city, upgrade buildings to make you spend more money. ### 1/5 — Crash *2023-04-19* Game crashes every 30 seconds very annoying I’ve stopped playing because of the issue. Please FIX if you want people to enjoy the game. As it is right now if your new or considering playing the game I would not bother, there are better building games out there that don’t crash. **Developer response:** iOS will close the game if you do not have enough free memory. This is not the fault of the game. There are many guides online to help optimize your device so the game has enough memory to run. ### 2/5 — The game lack of good design and colorful architectures *2022-08-10, version v1.02a* The architecture in the buildings is very boring, the buildings all look the same with the same colors on the structures and roofs. The fact that expanding the land costs gold is very disappointing. The game is nothing like Designer: Empire City. ### 3/5 — Great but… *2025-01-04* Love the design but if you are going to have vastly different types of buildings, the services need to reflect that! The med, school, police and fire are just one type of design. If you’re going to require these services then add service buildings in multiple themes. It looks stupid to have a beautiful building near huts. I would give this a 5 if they can fix it! **Developer response:** Public services aren’t required in the game but can boost happiness levels if utilized. While we’ve focused on gameplay and design variety, your suggestion for themed service buildings is appreciated. Considering how much you enjoy the game, the rating you’ve given feels a bit unfair—perhaps worth reconsidering? ### 3/5 — could be better *2022-11-12* It’s a pretty fun game and i like it but it would be nice if it could let us know what our city needs instead of just warning us over and over. I had trouble with the trash but there was no solution to it. i looked for everything in the game to help fix it but there was nothing and i even looked online to see if i was missing something and there was no help. I ended up getting rid of the game, hope y’all do better. **Developer response:** If your buildings need trash services the game will alert you to this. To solution to this is to add more trash services to your city. You can find these in the utility buildings category - the buildings that provide trash services will have a trash can icon for easy identification. The city advisor will tell you exactly what are the problems in your city and how to fix them. The (in game) player guide also explains this and all the other aspects of the game. ### 3/5 — Get ready to spend real more *2022-09-16, version v1.02a* Unlike there other city builder games that I love you have to spend gold to buy land instead of money so the only real way to build your city is to spend real money to buy gold so you can buy land and almost ever piece of land cost more gold than the last piece of land so I don’t play this one much it is to bad they just got greedy **Developer response:** This is not really a fair review. As you play our other games you will know that they all have buildings that cost gold. This game has no buildings that cost gold and gold is only used for land expansions. You can earn 50 gold a day just from visiting other players and watching a few ads. It would be cool if your city could get attacked and buildings can get destroyed and you have to repair it also you can make an army to fight back from the other army. My suggestion is don’t let the players attack other players beca7se that would get too annoying. Good game. ### 5/5 — My favorite city-building game! *2025-09-28* As a fan of city-building games, I’ve played many different games and this one is hands down my favorite of them all! No waiting for buildings to be done, no crop growing or goods making, just build and build and build. You earn money by keeping your village balanced with residents and employment. You increase your income by increasing citizen happiness through building parks and community buildings. There are no mandatory ads but you can watch short ones to get free stuff if you want, like land expansions and buildings/decorations that unlock on higher levels. You can purchase (for real money) gold and coins but as long as you plan your town, you don’t have to. If you enjoy strategy games and/or city-building games, you’ll probably enjoy this game too! The other designer city games work the same way and are equally as fun but I like the aesthetic of this one best. A great way to get one’s mind off of the woes of daily life. I’ve been playing this one lately as a change of pace from Designer City which is another awesome game.
