### 5/5 — fanDAMtastic! Powerful, easy, worth it...

*2025-12-08*

Update, 9/18/2025: Dev added THE photo processing feature I've been wanting. The ability to de-squeeze iPhone photos while keeping that super-brightness those photos have. He told me it's based on Apple's "Adaptive HDR" (8-bit JPEG/HEIC + Gain Map) standard.

Update, 7/7/2025: Dev added file format & file size to thumb gallery on my req--plus has been responsive to my emails. He cares about this app.

5/17/2025: Highly recommended. $10, no subscription--happy value. I crunch a LOT of images to manage phone storage. Hundreds/day. I rate Desqueeze Pro 98%.

It's very hard to find a batch resizer that's full-featured, reliable, and easy. I've tried many. (My former go-to, Batch Resizer 2, stopped being supported.)

You can batch crunch to just about any parameter you need. Many, many options.

Learning curve:
• for me I fired it up and set up my own presets in about 5 min. After that was done, it literally takes seconds to batch as much as I want.

• if you're new to crunching, it might take you a bit longer to understand interface/set up, but don't get frustrated! It's designed logically to accommodate all of its options/depth. You'll get it.

Great feature: option to keep original file name, but with " -dsqz " appended! Helps with serial file management.

If you need a batch cruncher, just get this. You'll have one less workflow thing to worry about.

**Developer response:** Thank you for the great review!

Wishes: app tends to really heat up my iPhone 15 and 12, so Dev...any ideas? Also, I'd like the thumbnail page to show Favorite icons, file size & format under (or on) each thumb. [You can long press a thumb to get aspect ratio (helpful!) & format, to be fair, but right on the gallery would be cool.]

If you need a batch cruncher, just get this. You'll have one less workflow thing to worry about.

### 5/5 — Sam

*2025-04-27*

Radmacher

### 1/5 — Useless

*2022-07-03*

Paid for the app, then wasted many hours trying to figure out why batch images were not transferring. They would load for a couple minutes then suddenly stop. Don’t waste your money.

**Developer response:** Please contact us via email, it is not clear from your review what are you trying to do.

### 1/5 — Error unable to resize item

*2019-10-10*

Unable to resize item with size 3840 x 2160 px to size 5108 x 2160 px which exceeds max permitted size.

Or i can resize 3840 x 1624 px

I have iPhone xs max and Moment Anamorphic Lens

**Developer response:** Read app description carefully: max permitted size for videos 3840 x 2160 px.

### 2/5 — Amazing app but..

*2019-07-04*

New update crashes every time I try to resize video. HEIC needs fixing. Looking forward to bumping this back up to 5 stars when fixed.. this app is my favorite resizer!

**Developer response:** Try 2.3.9 update, the problem should be fixed now

### 2/5 — Great but...

*2018-12-12*

Keeps asking for permission to use iPhones photos and gives a "settings" button but there isn't a setting to enable it in system preferences. Have redownload app every time in order to use it

### 4/5 — Great app with a couple speed bumps

*2018-12-03*

TL;DR: It has something of a learning curve, but is good and full featured.

This app does a good job of serving a niche market. It in fact, appears to be the only offering currently in the app store designed only to address this specific need. It seems to be full featured and well built. While the interface can be overwhelming to newcomers, the “?” icon does a great job of answering any questions a user might have. Still, I have a couple of misgivings.

First, the tutorial cannot be skipped. Having just vetted this app by trying out its free version, I found the process of sitting through the same tutorial to be quite frustrating.

Second — and I might be wrong about this — but the app does not seem to be aware of its largest potential market. I was referred to this app by Moment, a phone-lens manufacturer. I purchased their Anamorphic lens, a Cylindrical (as opposed to spherical) lens that compresses the image coming into the camera (but only along one axis). Moment recommended this app for de-squeezing the image produced by the lens. While this app does seem to offer tools for cropping as well as tools for de-squeezing, the de-squeezing seems to be the landmark feature. Outside of those shooting media with such a lens, I am not sure of who else has a strong need to de-squeezing images and video. All of this to say, I was surprised not to see built-in presets for the 2 most prevalent anamorphic lenses on the market. Those manufactured by Moment and MoonDog Labs. Still, this problem is more than met by the users’ ability to create presets of their own.

Third — and this may not be the fault of the developer — I tested this app on a short (2 minute) video, on a modern iPhone (the iPhone X), and the app did not process the video while in the background, that is when I went to other apps. This may be one of Apple’s restrictions on app developers, a cap on processing power afforded to apps running in the background, so I cannot definitively attribute this to the developer. Still, being unable to do anything else on my phone while processing video is disappointing. It is worth noting that the app was able to process multiple images while in the background. However, it processes images much faster, so this isn’t as likely to be a problem to begin with.

Overall this seems like a good, albeit niche app. The app does have a small number of issues, of which only one I can be sure is the responsibility of the developer. Just get the Pro version, your lunch probably cost more.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your review. Use inbuilt template "Desqueeze 1.33x" to de-squeeze your footage taken with anamorphic 1.33x lenses.
