Most platforms make things complicated and difficult to navigate. D maps are amazingly simple to understand. With regular updates and extra features constantly added it really makes the fee very reasonable. If you use the photo feature to photograph a find and then click on the link within the app to look at the image it doesn’t load. So any finds where you’ve photographed the item are not viewable meaning you have no idea what it was you located. Apart from that it’s really useful - but I do wish they would fix this to make it even better. ### 5/5 — Game Changer *2026-04-17* This app does everything. Says apps free I go through the process of setting up the app and then you gotta pay when your done. You can look at the map without paying but nothing comes up. Gotta pay to get the filters which I believe was pushing 100 bucks for the year. Waste of time and effort. ### 1/5 — Cash grab *2026-09-06* Pretty disappointing. You basically get the bare minimum unless you pay for a subscription. A lot of the useful features are locked behind Pro, including historical map overlays, offline maps, and other mapping tools. The free version feels extremely limited, and $59.99/year is a lot for an app that locks so much behind a paywall. I wouldn’t recommend it unless you’re willing to pay.and there’s no point in the free trial cause I go camping pretty frequently and I don’t need it for a week. You can only look at the spot you’re currently at. The second you lift your finger off the map while searching it jumps right back to your current location. I have cancelled my 9.99 a month subscription and I can’t log in to even try to use it for my remaining 30 days. I’ll be reporting it to Apple. Don’t waist your money on this obvious scam application. **Developer response:** Hi Rob, I’m really sorry you had that experience and the application is not a scam. Sounds like the issue you have described occurred because the feature “follow me” was enabled. That feature is designed to keep the map centered on your live location while you’re moving in the field. On the map side, you actually can explore far beyond your current location, across 15 U.S. states, 7 states and territories in Australia, and all of New Zealand. If you have this issue please tap the little location target icon once to turn that mode off. After that, you can drag and zoom anywhere you like and the map will stay where you leave it. The subscription bug you encountered was a genuine error and we have already fixed it in the latest version, so anyone who cancels will still have their full 30 days of access like they’re supposed to.  If anything occurs like this In the future please do reach out to us at hello@detectormaps.com.au with your Apple ID and we’ll get your access restored right away. To make up for your trouble, I’d like to offer you an extra 30 days free of charge so you can test the app now that the fixes are live. Kind Regards, Matt ### 1/5 — Over LiDAR not working. *2025-09-06, version 2.0.6* I’ve had to delete and remove this app 3 times. LiDAR keeps not working on the app. I’m out bush and can’t see what I want to see when I’m out there. Bad reception means I can’t fix the problem on location. However it always seemed like there was something missing. This app covered it. It easily lets me add photos and locations as well keeps track of the routes that I have searched along.
