### 5/5 — Excellent app!

*2022-10-28, version 3.0.1*

Thank you for this app, works brilliantly and is easily customisable. Can’t believe it’s free, works like the box says.

### 5/5 — Does what it says Awesome!

*2022-07-21, version 3.0.1*

So many apps make simple stuff complicated. Not this one! Perfect for film development timing. I realized midway through my first use of it that wet rubber gloves we’re gonna be a problem to tap “next” but guess what? The target is the whole screen instead of some tiny button so elbows are totally sufficient. I didn’t try the voice prompting yet but that sounds like a good option if you don’t feel silly talking to your phone in the darkroom.

Very easy and intuitive to add a recipe by copying one of the templates.

I’d pay money for it if it wasn’t free! ;)

### 5/5 — Simple, clean, effective

*2022-05-08, version 3.0.1*

Been using this for a couple of months. Such a nice improvement over my old school GraLab timer and notebook. Easy to enter favorite recipes for quick access. All the info needed and nothing else. Hard to do simple well, this is brilliant.

### 4/5 — I think this is going to be super useful!

*2022-05-05, version 3.0.1*

Just signed up for darkroom studio time and excited to utilize this app - only thing I could ask is that the app fills the entire screen of my phone?

Thanks!

### 5/5 — Very useful

*2021-10-27, version 3.0.1*

I use it every my development. Best of best!

### 5/5 — Great

*2021-02-07, version 3.0.1*

If you develop your own film then you have to try this app. It covers all that I need for B&W and colour developing. I have set up multiple versions of some film and developer combinations to allow for pushing or pulling, contrast control etc, I just select the relevant recipe for the task in hand, it’s great. I really like the audible alerts you can set for agitation, I have a tendency to drift off during the process but the alert means I can look away from the timer and still agitate at the appropriate times, so helpful, thanks.

### 5/5 — 무료로 이런 프로그램을 쓸수 있다는 건 축복

*2020-11-01, version 3.0.1*

4년째 대박 잘 쓰고 있습니다. 개발자님들 감사합니다.

### 5/5 — Perfect for the job

*2020-10-17, version 3.0.1*

What an ingenious app. Simple, does what you want it to do, clearly designed by someone who knows film development and software design. Love it. Thank you!

### 5/5 — Ace!

*2020-06-23, version 3.0.1*

Just the job Todd, simple, effective, zero hassle. Well done, ta.

### 5/5 — Excellent app for film developers

*2020-04-28, version 3.0.1*

Great app, made it easy for me to get back into film developing! Highly recommended!

### 5/5 — Still the best Developing App

*2020-03-01, version 3.0.1*

Still the best app out there for developing (B&W) film, and I have been using this app for years now !!!
Love the Rollei-inspired graphics, too.

### 5/5 — Super Useful

*2019-12-05, version 3.0.1*

This has been something I had been looking for to make things easier in the darkroom. It does exactly that.

### 5/5 — Great little app!

*2019-09-25, version 3.0.1*

It’s a great little app. But please can you pause after each stage and let the user manually start each step after cancelling the alarm? Thanks!

### 5/5 — Great App!

*2019-09-23, version 3.0.1*

No more fixer stained notebooks and post it notes that get lost. This app keeps all my recipes and times organized and makes developing film so much more enjoyable.

### 5/5 — Best app ever!!

*2019-04-06, version 3.0.1*

Perfect for custom development processes - sure the ‘massive dev’ app is the place to go for standard timings but it’s rubbish for designing your own/custom processes - this app is what you need! I used it for the Bellini C41 colour film kit and this app kept me nicely on track 👍

### 5/5 — Immensely helpful

*2019-04-06, version 3.0.1*

This is the best and simplest app I have found for timing my developing. If there was one thing I could change, it would be being able to listen to my music or while my phone is timing. The interval chime and end task beeps pause whatever I’m listening to when they go off. I can turn them off, but they’re helpful so I don’t want to! Other than that, great app and I love being able to add my own developing recipes.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Don’t use it!

*2024-06-25, version 3.0.1*

Waist of time! Couldn’t save times!!

### 1/5 — No chime no alarm

*2022-04-15, version 3.0.1*

Yes they are turned on.
Useless for film without sound.

### 1/5 — Unreliable for price

*2014-02-04, version 1.3.1*

Crashes on startup, totally unusable

### 2/5 — Where’s the native iPad app?

*2020-04-17, version 3.0.1*

This is listed as working on iPad, but it’s actually the iPhone version running as a small misoriented window on an iPad screen. This is inexcusable for 2020. iPad’s been around for 10 years. Looks like app hasn’t been updated in a year, I’d say that’s a good place to start. The functionality otherwise seems to be really good. Make this an iOS universal app that can be run in landscape mode and you’ll get 4-5 stars.

### 2/5 — Wish it wouldn't crash on iOS 8

*2015-02-14, version 2.1.1*

Used to like this app (4 stars) and recommend to my film photo students, but now it just crashes every time I open it so it's no longer useful. All my iOS updates are current, so not sure if it's a gap in the last version release to the current iOS versions creating the crash. If the crashing can be resolved in iOS 8 (with all its versions), it will be great to use again. And if that happens, I will modify my app rating.

### 2/5 — Mr

*2014-12-28, version 2.0.2*

Just the basics. Needs a smaller font to allow a more complete description of each step (and title). Being able to insert a step into a recipe would also be nice. Being able to copy and paste a recipe would be nice. Being able to skip an optional step would be nice. The 'delete recipe' at the bottom interferes with the 'add step' button. Note taking for each step is a must (things like temp and agitation)

Otherwise it works enough I suppose.

### 3/5 — Reset in case of error

*2023-10-21, version 3.0.1*

I like the app other than one thing. I accidentally stopped the process mid flow, and was unable to catch-up with the sequence. I then had to improvise with timings and agitation sequences.

I suggest adding the ability to go back and the restart the sequence at any one of the steps; and/or have a SKIP option to enable moving to the next stage of the sequence.

In the meantime for users of the app and in case of a twitchy trigger finger I suggest having a back up timer, I used my iPhone clock app that has a stopwatch function, with lap timer which I used for the agitation sequences.

### 3/5 — Easy and Practical

*2017-08-20, version 2.1.4*

Brillion app.
If I could add, I would say having the Dev Time Chart in app would add more value.

### 3/5 — OK app. Could be great.

*2017-06-05, version 2.1.4*

I have to agree with the other review. App has room for improvement. I'm having problems adding tasks in edit mode. Sometimes it won't let me save additional tasks or won't let me move the order of the tasks around. I'm using iPhone 5s so maybe that has something to do with it.
But I have to say that it has helped me a lot in keeping track of my dev times. So it works!

### 3/5 — Pretty Cool

*2015-09-09, version 2.1.4*

Pretty cool little app - I really have enjoyed using it so far. But there is one thing that annoys me and there is room for expansion and improvement! The thing that bothers me is not being able to fill in additional information for a description on what to do during interval timers, for example, 'rotate one agitation' every 30 sec, etc. Also, there is so much room for growth! This app is off on the right foot and is pretty cool, but I'd someday like to see additional links and resources, or example developing charts, or even a partnership with MassiveDevChart to be able to easily look up your developing time from the app itself (and be able to create a recipe from that time, where it auto-fills in the information for you)... Just thoughts! Great start though, and it's the most useful app out there for developing right now IMO.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Perfect

*2026-07-17, version 3.0.1*

Simple, useful and user friendly. Great little app. Surprised it’s free to be honest. Interface is clean and uncluttered and you can fine tune the steps you need to Top marks for this one.

### 5/5 — Fabulous!

*2026-06-19, version 3.0.1*

Simple, awesome, and free. Genius. THANK YOU!!!

### 5/5 — Great tool

*2026-06-14, version 3.0.1*

I use this frequently for storing and using development recipes for a wide range of film. I’ve been using it for a few years now with no issues.

### 5/5 — This is what you are looking for.

*2025-09-20, version 3.0.1*

This is the app you are looking for. It has exactly what you need to time your development, nothing more, nothing less. If j could request one feature, it would be the option to add 2% to a previously used setting. For re-use of chemicals. But I can do that manually for now.

### 5/5 — Does exactly what is needed. Thank you!

*2024-12-08, version 3.0.1*

The app is economical, efficient, to the point and simple to negotiate. Rarely does that happen. Definitely a go to when I am developing film.

### 5/5 — Has everything you need

*2024-11-08, version 3.0.1*

It’s a great app, you can customize the timers to fit every need. Saves me so much time while developing and you can save your configurations as Recipes. Love it!

### 5/5 — Exactly what I needed

*2024-02-29, version 3.0.1*

Straightforward and useful

### 5/5 — Perfect

*2023-06-25, version 3.0.1*

Was able to do exactly what I wanted. The customization was precisely what I was looking for. 10/10 would Develop! Again.

### 5/5 — Outstanding!

*2023-05-21, version 3.0.1*

Simple and easy to setup and use. A very well developed app that is truly a darkroom asset. I highly recommend giving it a try.

Thank you, Todd.

### 5/5 — Great customisation options

*2022-10-28, version 3.0.1*

I’ve used other film developing apps but this is my preferred choice because you can customise the steps to match your workflow.
