I don't trust automatic updates especially when there is no way to check whether they worked. Since the rise and fall of the dialogue and continuous upgrades it has never been a pleasant experience. Hard wired or unwired you never know when a problem will occur and support don’t have the answers. This upgrade to the software looks better but once again I was faced with awful echos when running in stereo and I almost gave up on a resolution when by chance one of my speakers which had upgraded regressed back to its former version, which once upgraded thankfully resolved the problem. All you get from support is a plethora of questions about WiFi settings and it just feels like a blame game. Thing is all my other cheap devices seem to work no problem. Apple HomePods which are totally inferior sound wise and a fraction of the price just work is stereo no problem. Perhaps newer speakers have solved the problem but I won’t be spending that money again to resolve a basic WiFi issue. Used to own six phantoms, now I just have two. The human who contacted me subsequently didn’t even bother to read the case i filed via the app and even replied to me in a foreign language. app is lousy and customer service is even worse. It has the ability to power off the unit, but will not turn it on. There are no controls that allow for any equalization on a base heavy speaker. The app is basically a volume control for the sound bar and allows for very basic functionality. Plus don’t seem to have had any updates for a while ### 5/5 — Phantom 1 firmware updates and the Ultimate speakers *2026-05-01, version 1.26.1* I bought into the original Phantoms when they first arrived on the market and elected, later on, to take advantage of the upgrade program. That was a huge leap forward. The same can be said of the firmware upgrades - each has delivered a significant increase in sonic quality. Having downsized from a large house to a smaller apartment, I can no longer enjoy a dedicated music room, walls of CD’s and LP’s and box after box of the paraphernalia necessary for what I considered mandatory to achieve hi fi sound. So, I now rely on streaming - Qobuz to be specific, aided by Roon and I don’t feel at a sonic loss, at all, with my ultra space efficient Phantoms. My musical experience is getting better with each iteration. I also note that, for me, the stellar sonic performance is a function of networking the setup. And, we now have a new speaker to consider. I didn’t think Devialet would be able to top what’s already sonically achieved . Bugger me if they didn’t top themselves. The best sound I have ever heard comes from the latest speaker iteration- the Ultimate, in stereo of course. And I have over 50 years of listening experience (no, I am not shy of hearing). ### 5/5 — Well Designed and Intuitive *2026-04-13, version 1.26* I’m impressed with the features the Devialet app offers and how intuitive it is to use. You can tell thought went into it, and being able to quickly toggle features and adjust volume or EQ settings is super convenient. Design is clean and not cluttered, yet robust in offerings.
