You end up reading articles which are years old even though they are on the front page so to speak. ### 2/5 — Not worth subscription *2023-12-13, version 9.2.0* Albeit local news, the writing of stories are often full of spelling and grammatical errors Sorry but not worth £3/month subscription to get full stories ### 3/5 — Review in your new app *2023-10-13, version 9.1.0* I don’t like it one bit! I used to be able to click along the top to see the sections I wanted! I really don’t like the new app! Far too many “ top news stories “ that are actually advertising or gossip about wannabe celebrities. It’s so annoying having to scroll down past so many ads to get to the ‘next page’ button that I often give up. I still read the headlines but trying to read the other parts is just too frustrating. I realise they need revenue but this amount of repetitive and irrelevant ads just ruins it for me. ### 1/5 — Good idea but poorly managed *2020-11-24, version 6.5.1* I love the idea of a local app. Headlines and notifications often seem relevant but when you click to follow up - well that’s the start of your troubles. Either the so called news is days old Or worse You follow a notification only to find it takes you to another old story. When you mention an incident on a road, you give no clue as to what town it’s in. Come on! Devon is a large county and very diverse. That sort of information is crucial. As for your local area - well why does a resident in Torbay want to be notified about an incident in North Devon? I’m getting ready to delete the app because it cuts to this app when I try to look at something on Safari which is completely unrelated to Devon Live. If this update hasn’t sorted it then you’ll have lost me ### 1/5 — Beware - battery drain! *2020-10-25, version 6.4.3* This app drained 40% of my battery on a brand new iPhone SE just while running in the background! 😡😡😡😡 Come on developers, nobody wants a flat battery just to get a few local news headlines!! ### 2/5 — It doesn’t get any better! *2020-09-26, version 6.4.3* A news flash come in, click on it. One gets to Devon Live and there is NO mention. Today I access the app and find news items from 3months ago So random and unreliable. No pleasure to read. ### 4/5 — Good but can be annoying! *2020-08-29, version 6.3.3* Excellent local coverage of news and travel but to include better customer experience there should be more options to choose which notifications I want as I’m inundated with everything including a weekly email! ### 2/5 — Journalists? *2020-07-21, version 6.3.1* The app is okay I suppose; it does what it says on the tin, but the journalism is appalling. My own education was sadly lacking but even I cringe at the spelling and grammatical errors. Also, I feel it seems not much ever happens in Devon as the stories are padded out, repeated and just plain boring. ### 2/5 — Use to be good. Now spam in my notifications *2020-06-09, version 6.3.1* I use find the app very handy for local traffic however now I get daily notifications asking me to sign up for pointless emails, I get a notification every time the RAF do any of their weekly training in Exeter (it’s weekly it’s not news) amongst other stuff nobody cares about. I don’t mind bad news stories just don’t shove it in my notifications without the option of choosing what ones I want to receive. ### 1/5 — Not enough about south devon *2020-06-03, version 6.2.9* Myrebret is that north appears to be the main focus - it should be about ALL of Devon! Once step too far Devon Live. As a useful catch up on local items the bbc might not consider you’ve been pretty good, even if the grammar and spelling has not. But a subscription to read blatant advertising for overpriced properties and restaurants? Some will, some won’t. I’m one of the latter. ### 1/5 — Now you want to charge us to use the app *2024-01-02, version 9.2.1* You send us links to articles so that when there is danger etc on the road we can keep ourselves safe. But now you want to charge us a fee to read them. Any controversial articles are met with absolute censorship in the comments.
