Regularly have to logout and log back in to get it to update and occasionally have to just delete it and reinstall. Not just me as my wife uses it as well and gets the same issues ### 2/5 — Frustrating unread badges *2026-06-25* I constantly have “unread” calls and messages, but I have no way of knowing which calls or messages they are, so there’s no way to dismiss the badge. I thought the indicator would be the little purple dot next to the contact profile picture - but every sender has a purple dot! Maybe the unread messages are bold? Nope - every message and call looks the same. What’s going on?! How can I clear these unread calls and messages? ### 3/5 — Hugely Annoying *2025-12-07* If not used for a period of time it requires you to delete and reinstall the app in order to reactivate it. This leads to unreceived calls and texts. Unreliable. ### 2/5 — Buggy and temperamental *2025-08-15, version 2.40.1* If I didn’t have to use this to keep my UK number as an expat I absolutely wouldn’t. An awful, awful app. Works ‘sometimes’, calls drop out when I’m on solid 1gbps WiFi and often nearly impossible to clear notifications. Really poor and irritating to use. ### 2/5 — Calls not coming through *2025-08-13, version 2.40.1* The app was ok, now calls down always come through, names disappear from phone book and messages. Contact support and same answer, uninstall and reinstall. It’s a lot of money per month for an app that works only a small percentage of the time. Will be looking for other options after 2 years of this application and persistence. ### 3/5 — Ok but push notifications still an issue *2024-12-01* I’ve used this App for well over a year in the USA and it’s been really useful to get 2 step notification SMS so I can keep using UK banking apps. That said, it’s really annoying that message notifications don’t show up unless I open the App. I’ve double checked and made sure that I have every notification option for the app turned on, but still don’t get anything. ### 3/5 — No ringing on Apple Watch *2024-10-22, version 2.16.1* When someone rings me my Apple Watch doesn’t react and I miss the call if the phone ring volume isn’t loud enough. ### 4/5 — Messages are received late *2024-07-08, version 2.15.0* Everything works fine. We've added letters to the dial pad in the new version of the app. It's being rolled out over the next few days, let us know if that helps! ### 3/5 — Bugs- hot fix needed *2024-02-05, version 2.11.0* Very useful app, I’ve been using for a couple years and it’s been working well considering the bugs however I think the bugs are becoming unbearable and interfering with business, pleading for an Update asap. There are no enhancements as there hasn’t been an upgrade since I registered ### 2/5 — Low Audio Quality *2023-12-22, version 2.10.0* Tried in several countries, several houses and for several months and while the app is great to use and effective at texting, the call audio quality is low and frequently cuts out or suddenly drops. ### 4/5 — A life saver but glitches *2023-12-02, version 2.10.0* I agree with Iceroluk on those points and also it’s glitchy. It says I have messages by showing me notifications but they don’t actually come through… Sometimes if I send another message suddenly the others come in… Just temperamental. That said I couldn’t manage without it. I do not want two phones!! I do not have dual sim. So thanks but please keep updating ### 3/5 — Idea is better than the reality *2023-07-18* I have been using Devyce for sometime with very mixed results. The concept works but the app can be frustrating, with it freezing, collapsing ,needing to be restarted and even deleted and reinstalled. All of these things are not the end of the world until the final occasion when I had to delete and reinstall the app and it decided that it couldn’t find my subscription and my ported UK telephone number was lost. Customer services quite frankly were unable assist and didn’t show the level of concern that I had expected. So bottom line I lost my UK number and have spent a very long week contacting one hundred and one institutions to advise my change of number. So in summary, Devyce does work but don’t expect it to be without flaws and be prepared to loose and change your ported telephone number. That you developer for your response however I think you have misunderstood my comments. I did. of course port my Vodafone number over to Devyce but for some reason I experienced a number of technical issues using it on my iPhone. Eventually after yet another restart , removing and reinstalling the app , somehow I lost all of my data my subscription and my ability to use the ported number. It seems that in this situation Devyce was unable to help and I had an impression that Devyce were unlikely to resolve the issue meaning I had to resort to taking a new phone number. Not ideal. **Developer response:** Hi, Sorry to hear you had problems with Devyce. We're always happy to provide a PAC code to customers needing to take their number away, but obviously need to be able to confirm your identity in order to do so. We recommend that customers don't change Apple accounts and keep the email address they used when signing up. If you're able to access the original email address you signed up with, then we'd be able to provide a PAC. Devyce Support ### 4/5 — Works for SMS verification and occasional calls abroad *2023-05-26* If you need to maintain a UK presence whilst abroad, ie SMS verification codes and maintaining a UK ring tone, this is a good service. I rely on it for constant SMS verifications which work pretty much perfectly, in terms of phone calls I do perhaps 4 per month and 1 of them will drop out. If there were a lot of competition, I’d probably give this 2 stars because it really doesn’t work very well and calls drop out without any warning. But seeing as there is no other option, it becomes a good option. **Developer response:** Hi! Thanks for the 4* review and sorry to hear you've had some problems with calling. I can see that you were on a somewhat older version of the app - our developers have been working hard to iron out call reliability issues that a handful of users experienced, and we are proud that our call quality is now comparable to mobile networks. ### 3/5 — Good concept, awful App *2023-05-16, version 2.6.1* Have this for Bank, elderly Dad, Helplines & when visiting UK. Can’t imagine any serious business wanting to rely on it. Notifications/Badges don’t show, rarely rings if there’s a call, have to regularly check if logged out by itself or if those wretched ‘Working Hours’ have reset themselves yet again. Devyce please sort out your product if you want to be taken seriously. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Lies about being able to port numbers *2024-11-27* They cannot port numbers as they claim. The main reason I chose this product was because I could port my number. I’ve wasted months of subscription fees paying both them and my current provider while they allegedly try to sort out the port. I have begged for more information and the most detailed response I get is that there is an incomplete agreement between providers. They cannot give me a timescale or any detail as to why there is a delay. More info would help me go to my provider to force action (my provider says they haven’t heard from Devyce). My PAC code has now expired, but no one from Devyce seems to care. They haven’t requested that I get a new PAC code, but they keep taking the monthly fee. Don’t make promises you can’t keep. ### 1/5 — Avoid *2024-11-02, version 2.16.2* The one thing this app has to do successfully is make and receive calls. It fails to do that regularly. I answer the call and neither of us can hear each other. Either that or one person can’t hear the other one. I’ve tried reinstalling, restarting, using AirPods or the speaker. Nothing seems to get it to work. This is my business line and I’m looking bad in front of clients. ### 1/5 — Reading and altering banking messages! *2024-01-25, version 2.10.1* These guys intercepted a text message from my back and altered the message - redacting part of it. Wow. Quite probably illegal in the UK*, but that aside. Do you trust some randoms on the web to be reading and if the want altering your messages. Delete. Delete. Delete. * Data Protection Act 2018 Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000 (RIPA) Computer Misuse Act 1990 So now I’ll love the management to comment by defending their position by saying somewhere in the T&C you agreed they could read your messages 😂 ### 1/5 — Almost useless. *2023-12-21, version 2.10.0* I downloaded this app and paid £8 to avoid extra charges while on holiday abroad. The app keeps saying your number is off and when you call it at times it goes through but won’t show on your screen. Waste of £8!! ### 1/5 — Unlimited LIES. *2023-10-05, version 2.9.0* As the guy below have stated , the ap actually limites your texts at 250 a day , and once it reaches its limit , it simply stops working without any notice. Making us looking like a fool. I did contact the support and their reply was that its limited at 250 text a day, which would have a cap of 7500 a month. When I asked the support if they could lift this limit to up to a 1000 texts a day, they replied saying it was not possible and that 250 would be the maximum possible limit. So I just requested a full refund as it does not align with the expectations set by your marketing. So if you need over 250 text a day to run your business , avoid this app. ### 1/5 — AVOID THESE THIEVES *2023-10-04, version 2.9.0* WORSE COMPANY EVER, THEY CHARGED MY CREDIT CARD WITHOUT MY AUTHORISATION. STAY AWAY ### 1/5 — It’s not unlimited *2023-10-03* In the advertise it says that you get a new number with unlimited calls and messages, but in fact it’s limited to 250 messages per day. **Developer response:** Hi Lucas, We offer a number of plans and packages. Our plans with unlimited messages do, in fact, offer unlimited messages and it's a shame that you're choosing to spread this misinformation. In common with every telecoms provider, we of course have an AUP to help prevent spam, fraud, and illegal activity on our network. But customers who are engaged in legitimate activities have nothing to worry about. Please do reach out to our support team at support@devyce.com if you need any further clarification. ### 1/5 — Drops calls, texts and voicemails don’t arrive, or arrive late *2023-09-12, version 2.8.1* This app is slightly better than nothing, but only just. It’s a great idea, but functionality is completely unreliable. It drops calls, conversations cut out intermittently, texts and voicemails arrive days later. I’ve been using it for almost 18 months and it’s always been the same. I guess as soon as there’s a decent alternative Devyce will be history. ### 1/5 — Terrible, don’t bother *2023-07-14, version 2.6.4* So slow to use, doesn’t have contacts, can’t copy and paste numbers, cuts out. I moved to Devyce when Skype shut down and I am really pleased with the service and the app. No connection issues, portable whatever country I am in and low cost. I had taken a Sim card from the UK with roaming, but I would rarely get phone calls from the UK and the service was really bad and it was hardly any network. I came across Devyce, and this solved all my problems, I always have network and Wi-Fi so making calls and taking phone calls from the UK has become very easy and seamless. I really appreciate the help of the support team to resolve my problems. I would recommend this service to anyone who is moving abroad and who wants to keep our UK number. I’m a Brit in the fitness industry who has online clients from both the UK and US. I currently live in Montenegro which not one of the UK providers provide any sort of plan for without it being something crazy like £2 a minute! I don’t even have a contract anymore! I just have a local E sim and Devyce and I call seamlessly make 8+ calls a day all around the world. We pride ourselves on having an excellent customer support team and I'll be sure to pass this along to them ### 5/5 — Works perfectly for my needs *2022-12-09, version 2.3.5* I moved out for the UK for a couple of years and wanted to keep my existing UK number and have the ability to receive messages/calls overseas, especially texts made to authenticate online payments etc. Just before I left the UK, I requested my PAC code from my existing network, entered the info into the porting form and I was ported to Devyce the next working day. Really efficient. Now I’m abroad, I have a local SIM and I’m still getting texts and calls without any issue to my UK number, I just open the Devyce app to view when I get the notifications. After 20+ years frequently working in Europe, but based in the U.K. devyce/xpatfone is the answer to all my problems… especially following Brexit! AMAZING ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ### 5/5 — So far, very good *2022-10-24* I installed Devyce a few days ago to overcome the problem that EE will no longer offer unlimited roaming in certain countries - even though I was paying c. £60 per month for my package. My UK number was ported to Devyce very quickly and the service dept keep you informed at every step. So far I’ve only used the app for calling and messaging the UK from Israel, but it’s worked perfectly.
