### 2/5 — Room for improvement

*2025-01-07*

The concept of the app is great and the CGM experience is life changing for diabetics. But the alarm system is so poor. Firstly, there is no critical alert system, meaning that the alerts will not override any phone settings. This is such an oversight. Libre system can do it, fall alerts can do it, there is no reason why this shouldn’t be a feature. Additionally the chime for a high glucose alert is too short - irrespective of which audio you set it to. It doesn’t alert for long enough to interrupt sleep or be heard through the bustle of busy life. There needs to be an option to extend the length of the chime. Finally, the low glucose alarm alert, whilst it does ring for long enough to alert you, it is very inconsistent. I’ve experienced the alert where it’s said I’m low, I’ve handled it, but then 1 hour later, I’ve gone back to check, but it’s fallen even lower and not re alerted or I just don’t get an alert. For a system which takes 2 hours to calibrate, I would expect more accuracy within the system.

### 2/5 — Bonne app mais défaillante

*2024-07-26*

### 1/5 — Sort it out awful

*2023-07-19*

I have had it 6 weeks and I can’t stand it I have to restart my phone constantly as it breaks and I can’t turn it off traditionally I have to turn it off through Siri as it has messed up my turn off screen I know it’s Dexcom as I stopped using for two weeks and my phone was fine I have also been logged out of Dexcom and can’t get back in through the app I’d delete it if I didn’t rely on it

Feel as though Dexcom has brilliant marketing but can’t back up with a app that works even if Dexcom one is the basic don’t make us feel as if we are put some money and time in to development instead of writing the same reply to customers actually do something about these issues have caught me out a few times with blood level drops

The only thing that actually works is the readings when it works for all of 2 hours a day

### 1/5 — Why isn’t this being fixed?

*2023-05-12*

I’ve now been using this cgm for several months.

The actual glucose readings are accurate when I get them, and I like that I don’t need to scan.

However…
It disconnects all the time. I have to restart mr phone several times a day to get any readings. I have large gaps in the information which renders the trend tracking abilities useless.

My consultant and DSN are also frustrated by the gaps in data.

I don’t understand why this hasn’t been fixed. It has been MONTHS of users complaining about the software and nothing is happening. This really isn’t safe to use. It should be withdrawn until it is fit for purpose.

I have contacted the tech team a couple of times, if they are unable to do anything because it is literally the software itself that is rubbish.

It is beyond frustrating that no attempt is being made to fix this. The ‘oh no we’re sorry to hear this etc’ responses are irritating because you clearly don’t actually care, otherwise effort would be made to repair this horrendous app.

Fix it or don’t. But if you’re not going to, at least withdraw it from the market. You are playing with peoples health and their lives and you obviously couldn’t care less.

**Developer response:** Oh no! We're sorry to hear that Vicki, thanks for letting us know about this issue. Please call us on 0800 031 5763 (UK) or 1800 827 603 (ROI) and we’ll be able to help you out 💚

### 2/5 — Very concerning reliability

*2023-05-01*

I’m in the UK and this app is the software interface for a very expensive monitoring system for blood glucose. It’s now on the NHS as a prescription approved device.

To be blunt it’s not ready for such status. The system claims it needs to be within 6 meters of your phone to work. The reality is any distance further than 6 FEET will see it disconnect.

In addition the software frequently loses connection to the sensor and requires up to half an hour to reconnect. In gods name why? A Bluetooth reconnect typically takes seconds on other devices.

This is not good enough.

Lastly the app completely crashes at least once a day. It reverts to its splash screen for 2 minutes and then logs itself out. Only a complete hard reboot of the phone cures this.

My medical practitioner is relying on this to provide wake up warnings in the night for me in the event of blood sugar going low. The system is so unstable it’s not up to the task. Again this is not a free app. It’s the software side of a very expensive system.

To the manufacturer; invest in a Bluetooth engineer and get this sorted before a tragedy occurs.

**Developer response:** Oh no! We're sorry to hear that, thanks for letting us know about this issue. Please call us on 0800 031 5763 (UK) or 1800 827 603 (ROI) and we’ll be able to help you out 💚

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Big

*2025-11-29*

### 1/5 — Unreliable

*2024-02-27*

I’ve been using the LibreLink app/sensor for over a year and was given the option of ‘trying out’ Dexcom to see if it would be better. Unfortunately it’s not.
1. It’s more fiddly - you have to attach the Sensor to your skin first, then you have to attach a seperate Transmitter. LibreLink only has one attachment, which is also much smaller!
2. The sticky adhesive curled up and is impossible to uncurl, so when it was applied to my arm the adhesive wasn’t flat.
3. It only lasts 10 days, whereas LibreLink lasts 2 weeks.
4. Most importantly - the readings were inaccurate by up to 3 units. It kept telling me my sugars were between 2 & 4 (i.e. too low) but when I tested my levels on my manual machine they were showing as between 5 and 7. I swigged half a bottle of Lucozade on the first occasion before realising the reading was wrong.
5. The notifications are LOUD and all the notification sounds are like alarms i.e. annoying. It wasn’t possible to reduce the volume of the alarms unless i also turned down the phone ringer volume - not ideal!

In the end I binned it after less than a day of usage and I won’t go back.

### 1/5 — Dexcom one vs Libre 2

*2024-02-08*

Im not one to normally write reviews, but as a recently diagnosed T1 and getting these devices on the NHS I thought it necessary to let other diabetics know.

Having tried the freestyle libre 2 and the dexcom one through the NHS the libre 2 app is by FAR superior. The dexcom one app does not allow critical alerts to override silent modes (important if you put your phone on silent overnight) so you will not get a low alert overnight(the libre app does allow you to do this). The dexcom app also doesn't allow a loved one to ‘follow’ your readings or allow you to log carbs, insulin doses etc, all of which the libre 2 app does allow.

Its not like dexcom doesn’t have the capability to put this in their app (as they do it with the G7). I feel like dexcom will lose a lot of business with the NHS as a lot of patients will prefer the competition over the ‘one’ because of app limitations.

Hopefully someone at dexcom will feed this up the chain, because the g7 app is amazing, even just a couple of extra functions on the ‘one’ app will make it a go to CGM device/app combo for T1 diabetics getting their device via the NHS.

### 1/5 — Extremely disappointing

*2023-10-12*

One star is generous, it would be zero stars if possible. I was put on the Dexcom One at the start of the year since starting all I’ve had is issues from connection issues to a harrasing amount of notifications regarding updating the app, the time has changed? Connectivity issues…, the app constantly crashes meaning I have to restart my phone. the list goes on. It’s such a shame because the dexcom one sensor itself is great I have much less issues with it than their competitor however the IOS app has destroyed the potential for this product I’ll be moving back to libre ASAP. The new update was poor, it has brought more issues that previously. I have uninstalled and reinstalled, tried this on an older version of ios none of which fixed the issues.

**Developer response:** We are sorry to hear that. Please contact our technical support team who will be happy to help you resolve this issue https://dexcom-intl.custhelp.com/app/support_request/

### 1/5 — SERIOUSLY NEEDS FIXING!!

*2023-09-22*

Just look at the overall ratings that the Dexcom One is receiving! The concept is a fantastic idea, but the continuous connection issues are absolutely ridiculous! And it is terrifying! As a Type 1 diabetic being moved onto an insulin pump - the NHS moved me to this from the Libre 2, and the thought of continuous glucose monitoring was amazing, however the outcome has been horrendous. The app is completely unreliable, constantly crashes, leaves me unable to turn my phone off properly, issues with the iOS health app, and more!!!
This seriously needs fixing. How long has this been going on for? Look at how many people are experiencing the same problems?! And why is the Dexcom One the only one with issues, and why is this the only one available on the NHS! Type 1 diabetes is not something we can change, nor something we enjoy having - why should we have to pay THOUSANDS for the G6 or G7 for reliability, just because the Dexcom One is not working properly. Please, I am begging you, once again (not my first review here) get it sorted. For the health and lives of the users, please.

### 1/5 — Dexcom One! The one is the one time a day the app works!

*2023-09-15*

Fantastic concept poorly executed. Having had the Dexcom G6 and having to down ground to the Dexcom One because I can no longer afford self funding the G6, I had high expectations for the Dexcom One.
It’s a stripped down version but that is a problem with the Shuggah app that completes all the functionality Dexcom stripped out.
The problem is simple though…the app simply doesn’t work 24/7 as it should and constantly fails throughout the day. Stops, looses connection or won’t even open unless you rest your handset. Obviously they’ve not invested in their app programmers and hence all the poor scores online for the app. Such a shame as with better programming they’d have an excellent market leading product.

### 1/5 — Unbelievably bad

*2023-08-13*

I find it very hard to believe that an app that the end user requires to be so accurate and stable can be as bad as this. They are literally playing with peoples lives here.

This should be fully recalled and resolved before being re launched. Certainly the NHS in England should stop issuing this equipment.

The last update to the app was 4 months ago??

Strangely when I received my starter pack I used the equipment faultlessly for the full 10 days, the issues seem to have arisen since starting my next pack.

The app constantly crashes and looses connection between the phone and the transmitter which means that critical alerts aren’t received.

It also means you get constant alarms throughout the night, you cannot put your phone on silent or you will miss low / high blood sugar notifications.

(Anyone reading this not familiar with insulin dependent diabetics, this means if your blood sugar goes critically low and you are not aware, you will have seizure, collapse and even end up in a coma or worse)

It’s absolutely disgusting nothing is being done about this. I’ve used a freestyle libra a few times and although they have a few faults they are not things that are critical to life.

### 1/5 — Just won’t work

*2023-08-02*

Swapped out from libre on the NHS. Promised it was better as libre sensors kept falling off! They kept their promise, the sensors don’t fall off. Shame I haven’t had one reading in 6 weeks from dexcom. Despite scouring the internet, changing settings, deleting files to free up space the app won’t work. Sometimes it won’t open, sometimes it crashes. Over the last 6 months of using I’ve not had one consistent week of readings, just far too frequent alerts telling me that it isn’t working. Current status is I can’t open the app to start a new sensor. If it is a tech issue, then is this app just far too complicated for the average person to resolve or am I just being thick? High financial rewards to supply the nhs duffer products ☹️ please Dexcom, just get some techie to sort your app out!

**Developer response:** We're sorry to hear that. Please call us on 0800 031 5763 (UK) or 1800 827 603 (ROI) and we'll be able to help.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Game changer.

*2024-03-11*

Been using the Dexcom One for about 6 months now, so feel that’s long enough to give a review. Have to say, I have had very few problems with the system, with Apple Health connection turned on (using iPhone 14 Pro if that matters to anyone). Let’s be honest, if you want the bells and whistles of the G6 or G7, then buy those as the One doesn’t have them. What it does have is accurate, stable recording, I personally still use a manual meter at least once a day, as advised by the nurse, just to compare, as I have found that placing of CGM’s and knocks can affect the readings, and each meter is slightly different. However, that is environmental and doesn’t reflect on the app. I have had very few issues with disconnections and I swim for at least 2 hours a week, the app reconnects quickly when back in range of my phone. The alerts are loud.. good! And I use the iPhone focus so that I can still get urgent notifications rather than just muting, so that mute is for proper quiet times (like the cinema). Let’s be honest, it would be nice to have some of the other features, and I would like an iWatch app, so I could have it paired to both and get alerts while exercising. Honestly, if you are reading all the old bad reviews, like I did, before getting it, I would say give it a try, as my issues have been minimal (and mostly caused by myself!) and it has really, truly let me understand where my sugar levels are going at any point in time.

### 5/5 — This app now works great - November 2023

*2023-11-03*

I started with the app and CGM Dexcom one in June 2023 and to begin with it crashed very often. I found technical support and customer service to be excellent. They contacted me a day later to check all was still on after an issue was resolved.

After some independent research I discovered that it was Apple-Health app that I had agreed to share data with that was causing a problem. I could not switch off the ability to share so in the end I deleted Apple-Health. At this point all the problems went away and the app was stable and worked great. Furthermore I was able to link my Dexcom account to ‘Sugarmate’ app and use sugarmate for all the clever stats and recording what I ate/drank and other notes.

I can 100% recommend this app and more importantly the company having had 5 months experience now. I strongly recommend that this app is not linked to Apple health - stick with Sugarmate that is an approved partner of Dexcom. And yes - this app is helping me balance blood sugar and my metabolism is improving.

**Developer response:** We love to hear that! 💚

### 4/5 — Works well

*2024-07-10*

Works well despite all the poor reviews which I cannot understand.
It occasionally loses contact with the iPhone, usually a distance issue and nothing to do with the technology.
It does require recalibrating every few days, but is seldom far out. The advice to recheck an alarm reading with a blood test is sensible.
The only thing missing for me is to be able to see my blood sugar reading on my Apple Watch which would be very useful.
With the release of the ONE+ I hope the basic ONE remains available for a long time yet.

### 4/5 — Big improvement since update

*2023-10-25*

Please be aware that whilst I agree with all the older messages about previous frequent loss of connection and crashes, the most recent app update in the last few months had made a huge improvement to the reliability of this system and I am now experiencing very few problems. It has also added a calibration function previously missing.

Have been using Dexcom for a while as I prefer the continuous monitoring function without need to scan over the libre freestyle. I know there are better versions of both systems available but am using systems available on NHS prescription.

**Developer response:** We love to hear that! 💚

### 3/5 — Mise à jour pour iPhone 16

*2024-10-09*

### 3/5 — A quand Dexcom Follow

*2024-10-01*

### 3/5 — Dexcom trial

*2024-09-07*

I decided to give Dexcom a try as my Libre’s weren’t sticking to me. And although some things about the Dexcom are bit better. Like comfort. The app falls short. I cannot shut the app and have it do its thing in the background which at night I shut the app out of habit and lose a whole nights readings. Like who leaves apps open? We close them to save battery and this has to stay open. Which to me a really let down and annoyance. Also the time in target cannot be changed I liked to be a bit harder on myself and make the green smaller as imo 10 is a litttle high. But on Dexcom you cannot change that either. I at this moment in time will not make the swap because the app is letting it down imo!

**Developer response:** We are sorry to hear that. Please contact our technical support team who will be happy to help you resolve this issue https://dexcom-intl.custhelp.com/app/support_request/

### 3/5 — Mise à jour

*2024-08-03*
