### 4/5 — Pay App

*2026-09-06, version 2.71.0*

Not worth

### 3/5 — Some flaws in concept

*2026-09-04*

This is a fun attractive food tracking app and scanner. But the flaw is that ultra processed foods haven't been well defined yet. There's controversy with the NOVA classification, and there's still argument over whether nutrient-dense ultra processed foods can be helpful, even with diabetes. Although research in general has shown increased risk of diabetes with UPFs, those studies included mainly fatty/sugary UPFs. This app rated a low-carb protein bar as a poor choice even though it's great for my blood sugar, but rated a homecooked meal of brown rice fish chickpeas tomatoes (no sauce) as awesome even though that significantly spiked my blood sugar. So it may be misleading for folks with diabetes. It makes assumptions that whole minimally processed foods are all fine for diabetes, but we know now with CGM use that plain oatmeal, too much fruit, whole-grain pasta, etc. can sig spike blood sugars. If someone weren't checking blood sugar or using a CGM with this app's recommendations, they'd never know that.

### 3/5 — Warning

*2026-07-21*

I did the trial but got no warning to cancel and it took the money still thought I had a couple of days left looks ok

**Developer response:** Hi, I'm very sorry to hear this. As you started a 7-day free trial you were charged after 7 days - you should have received an email reminder 2 days before. Please reach out to us at contact@gococo.app so we can sort it out, and walk you through a refund if that's what you would like !

### 2/5 — Didn’t try it

*2026-07-18, version 2.67.1*

I personally will not install any app that requires subscription. I would definitely purchase the app for a one time payment but I won’t subscribe. I can’t stand the subscription model and I refuse to participate in it.

### 2/5 — This is not a diabetes food tracker

*2026-07-17, version 2.67.1*

This is a weightloss app. I want to track glycemic index and couldn’t access the app without giving my age, weight, gender, etc.

### 2/5 — Help

*2026-07-14, version 2.67.1*

This app is so frustrating. I enter breakfast fine. Then, when I want to enter Lunch, it calls IT breakfast. 😡

### 3/5 — Condescending

*2026-07-10*

Useful for getting some idea of what you’re eating and whether it’s ultra processed. Doesn’t recognise most of the food I eat and have to put it all in manually.
Very difficult to set in “my foods” for things you eat regularly (managed it once but can’t repeat that trick!)
However, the most annoying part of the app is just how condescending it is. You could eat the perfect meal and it would still find something to berate you for. As an example, I had baked beans, and the comment was “next time swap them for low sugar variety” - they were! Eating slices of whole meal bread, “nice slice of wholemeal bread, next time swap it for the wholemeal variety”. Just get fed up with being moaned at with every single meal. Even eating some fruit, “next time have some nuts” - this app makes me want to just go to eating junk food and not worry about my health.

**Developer response:** Hi, thank you for this detailed feedback, it helps a lot. We're sorry to hear that the app seems condescending, it is not what it is meant to be ! Please reach out to us at contact@gococo.app so we can discuss your feedback. We would also be more than happy to help you get a refund and assist with anything else we can.

### 4/5 — Miss important Activity Level

*2026-07-09, version 2.67.0*

I am disabled and confined to a mobility chair, on oxygen 24/7. You don’t have a program for the disabled

### 4/5 — Question

*2026-07-08, version 2.67.0*

This is my second day, but yesterday I took photo of breakfast and that was good, but at lunch it called photo breakfast again. Odd.

### 2/5 — Needs more food

*2026-06-29*

I feel like I should’ve used the trial period as much of the food I scan isn’t recognised . I’m not tracking food or meals I eat , I just use the barcode reader for info on the score and any blood sugar warnings of the food I buy . Another downside ( not the fault of the app ) while in supermarkets actual network connection is patchy so it can often have problems connecting .. unsure they can fix that.
Update - the more I use it the more I find bugs , the more I note brands and foods are missing, the more it frustrates me . Has potential but maybe in six months and more bug fixing .

**Developer response:** Hi, thanks so much for your feedback and willingness to try the app.
We are actively increasing our database as there are some regions and supermarkets that aren't fully covered yet. We appologize for the frustrations you have had.
Additionally, we do have an "offline mode" so that when you have connectivity issues you can still use the app, perhaps it wasn't toggled on in your case.

Please reach out to us at contact@gococo.app we are committed to improving and learnign from our users.

### 1/5 — Awful app management

*2026-06-28, version 2.66.0*

What a terrible app that forces you to go through a long drawnout process to remove it

### 2/5 — Timing out

*2026-06-22, version 2.66.0*

While uploading meal it times out all the time I have to retry many times then give up

### 4/5 — Skeptical

*2026-06-22, version 2.66.0*

I haven’t used this app yet, but I am skeptical about its application. I’m wondering if they’re going to charge me I’m wondering if this is really about helping me lose weight are them scamming me for making money but I need to do something before I just flat out die so I’m gonna give it a chance. Here goes nothing, well here goes everything.

### 3/5 — Just ok

*2026-06-21*

It’s missing many foods and many brands and it does track fibre which is critical for managing diabetes.

**Developer response:** Hi, we’re sorry to hear that. Please reach out to us at contact@gococo.app so we can discuss your feedback.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Cancel

*2026-09-06, version 2.71.0*

How do you cancel this app?

### 1/5 — Horrible app

*2026-08-28, version 2.71.0*

I read a bunch of reviews and the app providers keep responding that there’s
a free tier but I just downloaded it this morning and I scanned 7 items and now it won’t let me scan anything else without subscribing. Very disappointed

### 1/5 — Required account after wasting time

*2026-08-25, version 2.71.0*

I don’t want you to track every single thing I do. No need to force an account. Let me do local storage.

### 1/5 — Payment?

*2026-08-14, version 2.70.0*

I looked to see if it was free before downloading the app, but I can’t see it anywhere. I deleted the app because of that. I am not paying. It may be good but no thank you

### 1/5 — Questionable Results

*2026-08-12, version 2.69.0*

This app seems to mark any product with 5g of sugar as High, and doesn’t at all factor in the fat, protein, and fiber content of a product that greatly affects the absorption rate of sugar.

Not helpful for shopping

### 1/5 — Privacy policy

*2026-07-30*

Nowhere to hide with this app

**Developer response:** Hi Alan, we're sorry you're feeling that way. All the questions we ask are meant to personalize the app based on your needs. Your data isn't sold or shared for advertising (see our privacy policy). Please reach out to us at contact@gococo.app if you need any help, we always reply to our users.

### 1/5 — Way too many subscription requests

*2026-07-27*

I really can’t say much about the app itself because I couldn’t get past the repeated enticements to subscribe to a paid platform. I’m not one to jump through multiple pages of required pages wanting to get me to upgrade just to use the free platform. After I got through the first time I thought it was over, but it continued to require me to tap through pages on the second use just to attempt to use it. I immediately deleted it and unsubscribed from their email list.

**Developer response:** Hi, I'm very sorry to hear this. If you see an upgrade offer in the app, just close it, you're all set. Please reach out to us at contact@gococo.app for any questions or help you may need getting started.

### 1/5 — Free

*2026-07-22, version 2.68.0*

This is not a free app like it advertises

### 1/5 — Scan

*2026-07-19, version 2.67.1*

The food I had on my plate was not the food that showed up on the scan

### 1/5 — A great idea that is not ready

*2026-07-11*

I thought this app would help me with type1 diabetes management and weight loss but it fals far short of what it could do. The database is not ready for the UK and it is too USA centric for British or indeed European users. It would not recognise a meal I had pictured and for all its good intentions is not fit for purpose yet.

**Developer response:** Hi, I'm very sorry to hear this. Please reach out to us at contact@gococo.app with any details you can share about the incomplete database.
