Delivery driver was very nice and got exactly what I asked for. The app was easy enough to use, but it gives you no ETA and has no way to revisit past orders, so after reading these reviews I was questioning if anyone would even show. Their drivers substitute your items, and then try to charge you for still the same price even though your replacement order cost less. Your drivers are argumentative, don’t wear their masks properly, are not social distancing at all, and are intentionally trying to rip off their customers. It had no expected arrival or anything. I’m still not sure if I would have gotten it the same day or not. I waited for half an hour for a call to confirm that I would receive my order the same day while keeping an eye on the time so lcbo doesn’t close on me. When I had 35 minutes before the lcbo close (30 minute walk) I called and canceled. The lady I talked about it started fighting with me while I’m trying to explain why I’m canceling. To her it was a waste of her time. Before she cut me off to say “goodnight” she told me that I’d be blacklisted and no longer aloud to order stuff using the app. Btw I ordered a bottle that totalled $15.25 before a tip my total was $25.25. I thought the idea of this app was an amazing idea, however the app that was created is useless and definitely would not recommend. Just Yourself the headache ### 3/5 — Well... it works? *2020-11-29, version 1.2* Placed an order in Victoria, BC. Received no confirmation of any sort. After about an hour I decided to simply head to a liquor store myself. As I’m on my way out the door, a rather lovely older woman shows up with my order. We were both confused. I paid. She was nice. Fees were rather high. This app overall seems like a giant mystery box to both patrons and delivery people. ### 1/5 — Needs competition *2020-10-31, version 1.2* Very unreliable, and way overcharging for their delivery service. Varied delivery times. Sometimes deliver in an hr, sometimes in 6 hours. Depends on how busy they are which is completely understandable but would be nice to have an estimated time of arrival. I’m almost always overcharged for my order with no receipt, because some of my items aren’t available but if you aren’t able or don’t want to go out to buy booze, this is a good option. The drivers always notify if your stuff isn’t available and ask what you’d like instead. Honestly all the ones I’ve had have been super nice. It was my first time using the app so I didn’t know. I called to cancel as I wasn’t sure if it’d take hours or would even be delivered the same day. The woman I spoke with continued to interrupt me (“order number, order number, what’s the order number?!!”) continuously sighed in annoyance after I had asked to cancel the order, and was overall just rude. I kept things straight to the point but it didn’t matter, she just continued to show how annoyed she was. If you’re not able to follow basic responsibilities of being in customer service, you shouldn’t have a job that requires you to do so. ### 1/5 — Very rude staff, app is very hard to track. *2021-12-01, version 1.2* Used them a few times and was willing to deal with the fact that you’re order doesn’t show up until hours later. However this time will be the last time I use this service. The customer service staff is very rude and the guy even berated me for ordering a lot of things. He actually called my order ridiculous and rudely told me that my order wouldn’t get to me for another 3 hours. There are many other drink services out there, I will be using those in the future. (Which you need to do to place an order) it said my number was in use even though I’ve never made an account before and then I had to create 5 different TextNow accounts just to find a number that worked. And then it said my email was in use and I had to use a different email. Then after all that, I finally placed my order - no confirmation so I was waiting around and my order never showed up. The text was white (or light grey) on a white background and was almost unreadable. And even after filling out all the necessary fields it would not let me register. The only thing that happened is a pop up appeared that said “Dial A Bottle” and a button to press okay.... and then the entire order disappeared. I called customer service and told them what happened but I don’t think they understood what happened (or happens) with the app and just offered to reorder over the phone, but after reading the other reviews I’m worried I’ll just end up with twice my order! They really need to fix this app and have some sort of function to view orders, or confirmation within the app.... so weird. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Excellent Service *2022-10-22, version 1.2* I have been using Dial a Bottle for several years now. I have noticed that there are some bad reviews here. I just don’t understand why there are some negative reviews. I have always found the Dial a Bottle staff to be very friendly, professional, dependable and punctual. The Dial a Bottle app is also very intuitive and easy to use. I am so grateful for this service and the reasonable price they charge for delivery. It is just so convenient for everyone! ### 5/5 — Best delivery service I've ever used!!! *2021-03-10, version 1.2* This is by far the best delivery service I've ever used. Period. Easily a 5-star review to write. I initially called the 1-866 number to get some basic information on how the service works and they have excellent customer service staff at the call centre. I placed my first order which had some difficult to find wines and they found them no problem. I have been using them regularly ever since. They will bring me wine, liqueurs, craft beers and even stop by the convenience store for pop etc. My orders always arrive in a timely fashion and I question the people on here complaining, but I guess you can't please everybody and I realize some of these people may need their alcohol in less than an hour if they are addicted to alcohol. Even with the current Covid-19 situation I have still gotten my orders the same day! The drivers have waited in long lines for us to pick up our orders and still arrive with a smile. Kudos to a great company and the great service they provide at a competitive price point. I have now discovered they have this APP and I have been using that. It has been super user friendly! Driver was really friendly and order was perfect. Will definitely use again. It was about 15 for the service plus tip but worth it to not leave the house - not sure why all the bad reviews. They always arrive earlier than I expect (which is a good thing) and the delivery drivers are always super friendly. I totally recommend giving them a try, you won’t regret it! Don’t judge it until you try it yourself :) ### 5/5 — Excellent service and quick delivery time! *2020-06-28, version 1.1* I was incredibly skeptical about using this service after looking at the reviews for the app, but honestly I was pleasantly surprised at how great the service is! Keep in mind, I believe this service works similar to Uber Eats or Skip, in that the delivery drivers you get are going to be dependent on your location. For context of my review, I placed my order in Oakville, Ontario. With the COVID-19 pandemic, I try to avoid going out as much as possible (and without a car, it’s a pain to get places by transit). So I gave this service a try to avoid having to wait in the long lines at LCBO. Here are the details of my experience: I placed my order for 6 coolers, and 6 hard root beers, with the order coming to $33.45 before tax (which is in line with the price of LCBO costs). The delivery fee came to $10.62 (which seemed to remain a flat cost when I experimented with adding more to my cart, so it seems like this service has the best value with the more you order). Since I used a credit card to pay, I paid an additional $2 POS fee (which applies to both debit and credit purchases). Tax came to $1.38. I wasn’t charged upon ordering, but instead paid upon delivery (similar to ordering from Dominos). For timing, I the entire delivery took only an hour. I placed my order at 7:58pm, and received a call at 8:31pm from my driver informing me that the hard root beer I had ordered was out of stock, and asking me if I’d like to replace it with something else (to which he picked me up a different brand that was available for the same price). He then arrived at 8:58pm. I paid using the POS machine (which thankfully gave me options for tipping that was based on percent so I didn’t have to calculate anything myself). The price before selecting my tip was exactly what the email I got for placing my order said it would be. Everything I ordered came, with no damages. I couldn’t have asked for a better delivery. If I could critique anything, it would just be the app itself. You can’t view your past orders, or current orders in progress. While I’m not too concerned about the lack of tracking available for your order, it would be nice to see past orders and even be able to place reorders. Also, it’d be nice to be able to give feedback in-app for the delivery - this might be able to help the company with these past orders that went badly identify what order it was and who the delivery driver was so they can investigate. Overall, great service, and I’m definitely planning to use this service again! ### 5/5 — Good service despite bad reviews *2020-05-24, version 1.1* I was a bit skeptical about using this service because of the bad reviews, but I was pleasantly surprised. Order came in approx. 2 hours, and was given a call by the company to confirm the order. However we used a landline phone to place the order, and not the app. Both times the order arrived in the proper quantity, and after only about 2 hours wait on a Saturday night.
