I’ve checked my phone settings to make sure my alerts are on. Yet I’m finding missed messages only after launching the app. **Developer response:** Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review. This sounds like a notification issue - we recommend logging out of the app, uninstalling and reinstalling to resolve the problem, but feel free to reach out to us at support@usechalkboard.com if the issue persists. ### 3/5 — Complicated *2023-11-13* While I want to like the app, I find it confusing to go through the process of applying to text only to have to provide a n ad or example of how I would advertise. I don’t advertise. I use this as a business adjunct and my clients are assigned to me by the Courts. So while google may be pricey , it it’s not counterintuitive nor does it complicate things. **Developer response:** Thanks for your review - unfortunately the requirement to register for outbound messaging in the US is now set in place by The Campaign Registry and the US networks, so it's out of our hands. We do hope the process improves and speeds us over time to improve the user experience. ### 2/5 — Update Killed it for me *2023-09-13, version 4.4.0* This was a great app up until the recent update. I can’t use my templates as I can’t edit them. I’ve noticed there is a character count on texts so I have to split them up, something I used chalkboard before to avoid having to do. Such a shame. Guess I’ll have to look elsewhere again and cancel my subscription. ### 4/5 — Missing key features *2023-09-02* I switched away from Google Voice for business and ported my phone over to Chalkboard and am saving a bundle. I love the product because it lets me and my partners truly share 1 phone number across multiple devices to better manage the CRM side of our business. It’s missing a few KEY features to get 5 stars. 1. Notification badges - this is a must. I’ve been less than responsive to some clients because wi didn’t see the pop up notification when a message came in…I REALLY need those badges! 2. Text is VERY small and cannot be adjusted. Please add support for dynamic text size. 3. I need a web version so I can use this on my laptop. I often do much of my business work there and it’s disruptive to have to go back and forth between laptop and phone. 4. Mass delete messages 5. Spell check seems to be British?? Let the OS spell check…the app doesn’t need to provide this. For example, if I type the name “Mark”, it suggests “Marc”. If I type “color”, it suggests “colour”. **Developer response:** Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review! Thanks! ### 2/5 — Doesn’t send messages 👎🏼 *2023-08-31* I like this app for my work like but the messages never send. I always get undelivered error messages. It also doesn’t send photos. Kind of the whole point of being able to text people and only works half the time. Disappointing for a business owner. **Developer response:** Hello, thanks for leaving us a review. It’s been going on for some time and I’ve contacted support a few times. Also, when media comes in, I can’t see it or save it. That is a good. Also, I can’t increase the screen size so I can actually see the text message. So having a bit of trouble with it even though I’ve had it for a while. Thanks! ### 2/5 — Good idea but doesn’t really work *2023-03-06, version 3.8.2* Good idea but the call quality is poor and there seems to be a delay from the time you answer until you can hear the caller, comes across very unprofessional so doesn’t really work for business use. Best I’ve seen so far as for price and features… some of the stuff that giving for the price other apps wanna charge extra. That alone set this app apart from those guys.. so far everything that I’ve tried is working so far, so good! Only thing that I’m hopping they do, is add a option to make fonts or text msg bigger as for now you need 20/20 to read chat.. and also a mass delete button.. rite now I have to keep up with deleting msg or I’ll be overloaded with pass texts n call logs…/ if that’s ever updated to y’all will have my full stars and loyalty.. ????? Well was loving it till wake up to this morning it locked me out, no warning, couldn’t get no one.. so I was forced to move on to another. But- I’d very much like to see an auto response function to text messages we receive, that mirrors the auto response to missed calls. Can’t be that hard to do guys? Surely? ### 5/5 — Impressive *2022-06-09, version 3.2.0* Was very excited to discover this app as we are currently deliberating between continuing to use personal mobiles at work or supplying staff with a dedicated work mobile with all the additional costs that that involves. This app seemed to be the answer to most of our prayers. My initial experience was mixed; it was dead easy to download the app and import contacts, but for some reason I had problems making calls. However, support from the developers has been superb and I am now a definite fan. The app has some great features… I love that it includes voicemail, but also that I can send a text response to missed calls. Receiving voicemail messages as both a sound and text message is brilliant. Being able to ‘broadcast’ text messages to lists is really useful. Being able to add multiple contact details and notes is a recent much appreciated development. My only gripe is the size of the font, which is very, very tiny, but I gather the team at Chalkboard are working on this! ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — RUINED THE APP *2025-08-19, version 4.5.3* Constantly asked to do KYC and when you guys want the KYC you completely stop the app from working which means I am MISSING important messages and unable to respond. Very silly design. I understand we must upload but give the user time don’t just suddenly stop and ask for KYC whilst I am on a current plan. Found alternatives ending subscription today. ### 1/5 — Horrible app *2025-06-10* This app never updates, I often times have to sign out and back in multiple times and it’s not worth it. I just tried to open the app this morning to reach out to some customers and it just says “failed to load” payment is up to date and no issues there. But you cannot receive a third party verification SMS into your Chalkboard chat. This means that I cannot have my business number in Google or Twitter or any other platform or app that uses text verification. Cancelled. ### 1/5 — SCAM!!!! *2022-03-14* If you are using this service for fun then go for it but if you are looking for a reliable service to run a business then you are out of luck. Their support is truly great. Apple canceled my Chalkboard account, so the number I had publicized was canceled.
