## What is Diarium Journal?

Keep a private diary and daily journal for memories, photos, mood, travel, gratitude, and everyday notes without ads or subscriptions.

Diarium helps you capture what happened today, add the details that matter, and build a personal timeline you can return to for years. Write quick reflections or longer entries, attach rich media, and keep everything protected with password, PIN, Face ID, or Touch ID.

What you can do with Diarium:
• Write a personal diary, daily journal, gratitude journal, bullet journal, photo diary, or travel journal
• Add photos, drawings, audio recordings, files, tags, people, ratings, and locations
• Track mood with star ratings and tracker tags
• Revisit memories in calendar, timeline, and travel map views
• Use lists and text formatting for notes, reflections, routines, and daily logs
• Set daily reminders to make journaling a habit
• Add useful day context from camera roll, calendar, weather, tasks, Apple Health and other fitness activity, social activity, and entertainment activity
• Import from Apple Journal and supported diary apps such as Day One, Diaro, Journey, Daylio, Diarly, Daybook, and Evernote
• Back up your diary database and export entries as Word, HTML, JSON, or plain text

Your journal can continue with you across supported phone, tablet, laptop, and desktop versions. Optional sync uses your own cloud storage, including iCloud, OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox, or WebDAV, so no separate Diarium account is required.

Diarium is designed for long-term journaling: daily thoughts, family memories, trips, photos, gratitude, feelings, and the small moments that make up your life. It stays personal, flexible, and secure, whether you write every day or whenever something is worth remembering.

Diarium is free to use with optional Diarium Pro for advanced features such as sync, unlimited attachments per entry, Word export for printing, connected feeds, custom fonts, widgets, and weather in entries. Pro features can be tested for 7 days after installing.

Diarium Pro is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. The purchase is linked to your Apple ID and unlocks Pro for iOS/iPadOS; a separate Pro purchase may be required on other platforms.

Great App

### 5/5 — Great App

*2026-08-15, version 3.3.2*

I’ve tried several journaling apps over the years and Diarium meets my needs by far. Even better is that there’s no ongoing subscription.

### 5/5 — Love love this journal app

*2026-08-14, version 3.3.2*

Diarium has everything that I’m looking for in a journal app, including the On This Day. I’ve used the app for less than a week and have no issues. I love that it’s available on both iOS and Mac. This app encourages me to write a journal entry daily which has always been my goal. This price is also very reasonable.
I recommend giving this journal app a try!

### 5/5 — Great so far!

*2026-08-12, version 3.3.2*

Just started to use Diarium, and it’s doing just what I want so I can keep track of holidays and a prayer diary.

### 5/5 — Really great!

*2026-08-10, version 3.3.2*

I have spent hours looking for some kind of good diary app, and I had certain things in my mind as far as what I wanted them to do. I tried out several, and none of them were very close to what I had in mind. They were too bulky, too labor intensive to use and just didn’t feel intuitive to me, and this one is pretty close to what I would’ve designed if I knew how to write software myself.

### 5/5 — Excellent diary app

*2026-08-10, version 3.3.2*

Reliable, ad-free and subscription-free. If only more developers made apps this way.

### 5/5 — Secure - Data protection: Number 1

*2026-08-07, version 3.3.2*

I strongly recommend Diarium the app for your consideration. I used another app for about four years, with very good results — until the addition of features caused a data loss, as I was typing / scribing. For me, that was what made me try Diarium. Since using this app, there has been NO data loss. There are visible reminds to manually save your entries. That’s all that I ask for: keep my carefully crafted ideas “safe”.

But in addition — editing features that make the app visually appealing, and having those features readily available (iOS mobile) (iOS tablet - 2 sizes) (MacOS) —> yes, I am a paid user for both MacOS and iOS —> paying in this way for the app is a small price to pay for secure, cross-platform access to my thoughts, my ideas in a way that makes me feel completely free to scribe.

Many thanks to the app developer… Sometimes simple and effective goes a long way.

Another bonus: friendly to on-screen virtual / Apple keyboards / physical keyboards. The devs include most typing / word entry conventions typical for iOS PadOS MacOS. This is not the case for other apps…. Ask yourself: Does my current journal app allow me to scribe the same way I would input text for non-personal writing? Diarium the app DOES - and it’s worth giving a try.

### 4/5 — Excellent, but….

*2026-08-05, version 3.3.2*

I really like this app. It has pretty much everything that I have been looking for and I use it to record mundane events (as a “when did I last…?” app) and diary/journal/social events.

The one thing I don’t like - and this is purely a personal opinion - is the inability to manipulate photos within an entry. In other words, if I have, say, a journal entry for a particular day and if a lot happened that day, there may be 10 or more photos that I want to include. At present (and I don’t know whether there are plans to address this), all photos appear along the bottom of the entry. This is similar to Card Diary, where the photos are along the TOP.

As a journal, I also use Diarly. There, I can place (and manipulate) photos in and around the text of an entry. So, if I have a paragraph about a particular event, I can include a photograph relating to that event within that paragraph.

However, I like the interface of this app far more than that of Diarly. This app is cleaner and simpler to use and, at the initial level, sets out the data better.

Again, purely as a personal opinion, an ability to manipulate photos within the app would make it pretty much impossible to replace.

It is only for this personal preference that I haven’t awarded the app 5 stars, which it probably deserves.

UPDATE: Thanks to the developer for getting back to me so quickly. As I suspected, adding the ability to manipulate photos presents its own unique challenges. I do hope that this could become a feature in the future. Notwithstanding this, Diarium has become, and will remain my main app for setting out the notes, photos and data relating to my routine events and my travel and social events and I can heartily recommend it.
