## What is Dibs?

Dibs splits a restaurant bill the way you actually ate it — by item, not by an awkward even quarter that leaves someone subsidizing everyone else's drinks.

Photograph the receipt and Dibs reads it on device. Review the parsed items (the scan is best-effort, so you always get the final say), tag who had what, and Dibs computes who owes what — distributing tax and tip PROPORTIONALLY to each person's subtotal, reconciled to the exact penny.

When it's time to settle, Dibs hands off to Venmo with a pre-filled request, or shares a plain-text "pay me" message for anything else. Dibs never moves money and never holds it.

FEATURES
• On-device receipt scanning — offline, free, nothing uploaded
• Manual entry and correction — you review every item
• Assign items to diners; shared and unassigned items split evenly
• Proportional tax and tip, with penny-exact totals
• Pay hand-off via Venmo deep link, or a share-sheet message
• Local history of past splits, revisitable
• Remembers people you split with for quick re-picking

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
No accounts. No backend. No cloud. No tracking. Every split stays on your device.

If Dibs saves you the after-dinner math, there's an optional tip jar — entirely your call, and it unlocks nothing. Dibs works fully without it.

## Version history (last 3 releases)

### 1.2.0 — 2026-07-28

What's new in 1.2.0:

• Keep track of who's paid you back — mark each person paid as they settle up, right from a saved split. Swipe or long-press their row.
• Your home screen now groups splits into Active and Settled, so the bills still owed stay front and center and the finished ones tuck away.
• Each active split shows how many people still owe you and how much is outstanding at a glance.

As always, everything runs on your device — no accounts, no backend.

### 1.1.0 — 2026-07-22

What's new in 1.1.0:

• Split a shared item across the table — divide a multi-quantity or shared line into equal shares with a tap.
• Dibs now flags when scanned items don't add up to the receipt's printed total, so nothing slips through unnoticed.
• New "How Dibs Works" walkthrough in Settings — a quick tour of the scan, assign, and settle flow.
• Added a link to our website in Settings, plus polish throughout.

As always, everything runs on your device — no accounts, no backend.

### 1.0 — 2026-07-08
