Dictionary for 53 language combinations, usable with or without an internet connection (offline dictionary). Vocabularies can be downloaded and updated within the app for free.

German-English dictionary: more than 1 million translations
All dictionaries are bidirectional, so German-English doubles as English-German. Just type in your keyword in either language.
The following languages are available in combination with German and English:

I like the app very much.  German has been a special interest for me since I was in college but I‘m still learning.  I can read novels with little need to look up words to follow the storyline but eagerly look up every word I‘m not sure about.  The program makes it easy to improve my Wortschatz!

The “submit” button is unresponsive!!!

seit über sechs Jahren benutze ich diese App täglich. sie ist für mich eine der besten im App Store. Zusatzfunktionen wie der Kartei-Kasten oder das Quiz sind eine sinnvolle Zugabe. Die Liste für die Übersetzung eines gesuchten Wortes ist überwältigend.

Der Vokabeltrainer mit seinem Fächerprinzip ist ein super add-on, ich übe immer mal wieder damit. Vielen Dank an den Entwickler! Ich hatte vor Jahren mal eine Frage und er hat umgehend geantwortet. Die App ist unkompliziert und richtig gut!

Wirklich super tolle App, leicht zu bedienen, offline verwendbar, großer Wortschatz.
Am meisten schätze ich die Möglichkeit Vokabellisten zu erstellen und damit zu lernen.
Eigentlich ist die App viel mehr als nur ein Wörterbuch und für das eigentlich geschenkt.

I have been using this dictionary (German-English) for several years now. I’ve found that it’s the best one out there for unusual words, technical and scientific terms, old fashioned words, etc that many other dictionaries do not cover. Been using the paid version for quite a while now because I like the offline functionality.
It is the one I recommend to other peope who use German for work or speak it as a second language.

Ich verwende die App täglich, vorwiegend um schwedische Texte zu verstehen. Diese App hat mehrere herausragende Merkmale:
1. Sie ist weitgehend auch offline nutzbar. Im Offline-Modus fehlt die Möglichkeit der Sprachausgabe, was aber nachvollziehbar und tolerierbar ist.
2. die App bietet nicht nur Ein-Wort-Übersetzungen an, sondern, bei Mehrdeutigkeit, ganze Listen von Möglichkeiten, Idiome, Metaphern, Sprichwörter und sogar Übersetzungen von Buch-und Filmtiteln. Oft erschließt sich die Bedeutung eines Wortes aus dem Zusammenhang, und die Entscheidung, welche der angebotenen Bedeutungen passt, kann ich in der Regel anhand der angebotenen Übersetzungen schnell treffen.
3. Die App reagiert auch auch inflektierte Suchbegriffe. Das finde ich besonders hilfreich.

Sehr selten fehlen Übersetzungen. Das kommt schon auch mal vor , aber die Häufigkeit der Lücken ist so gering, dass es nicht nervt.
Mein Fazit: sehr empfehlenswert!!!

I began a lifelong study of German in 1962 and have used every brand of dictionary, but, obviously, nothing ever approached DICT in ease or thoroughness. I have the full off-line dictionary and am always amazed at how easily I can find a definition and can cross reference words to get at the shades of meanings of words.

I have used DICT for years now and greatly appreciate how it has continued to develop.
