In the meantime, Dictionary Universal was the best among the Stardict dictionaries. However, Dictionary Universal has been lagging behind with recent improvements (the app still does not support Split view). At this time, Dicty is well-formed to be more than a substitute for the Dictionary Universal. I would like to expect only two improvements to this app. First, I would like to be able to use the pronunciation voice files as supported by Dictionary Universal. Secondly, I hope that the search interface is improved so that one word at a time can be easily converted into multiple dictionaries (in Dictionary Universal I can swipe fingers left and right to change the dictionaries). ### 5/5 — Fantastic thanks *2017-08-11, version 1.5.1* Seems to work as described. Very nice to be able to select your choice of dictionary from the many online and combine them into one app. In case anyone needs an example I'm using the GNU Collaborative International Dictionary of English. ### 5/5 — So handy! *2016-04-15, version 1.2.0* Performance and design of this app is so adorable, I use it all the time for my French learning. iOS 9 slide over support made this app really indispensable. It would be still better if word suggestions of iOS default keyboard was active. Hope to have it in the next update. Хотелось бы увидеть поддержку dsl-словарей в следующих версиях ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 2/5 — Some sorts of issues *2019-01-08, version 1.6.0* At first glance, the app looks great, esp. in the working speed, behind the fact of no ads etc. comprised that counts a lot. However, I found significant imperfections: - in my case a half of dictionaries were able to be imported, though they all are stardict - almost each dict article is cut off when displayed. That looks as a markdown serious bug revealing in different places of the complex text. - No suitable contacts to communicate this to a support/ developer. For example, the ‘History’ and ‘Dictionaries’ tabs overlap each other when they are touched. Just one Complaint: The 4 little icons at the bottom left don’t fit on my iPad mini because of the words next to them. For me this is definitely the best stardict application. It is reliable and quick when loading several large dictionaries at the same time. It is elegant and easy to use. The UI is clear, typesetting comprehensive and customisable. It is free and free of advertisements. Powerful and elegant. Except for this one. It supports and makes it easy to install free stardict dictionaries and there appear to be no ads or other forms of in-app nagging or harassment.
