WHAT IT’S ALL ABOUT Following on the highly successful WDR augmented reality app covering history from 1933–1945, which was downloaded 1.5 million times, the German broadcaster is releasing its “Die Klima App” (The Climate App). Digital education will never be the same. Use a tablet or smartphone and learn in a thrilling and hard-hitting new way. The app offers a choice of four different modules: - Receive a virtual classroom visit from survivors of the flood disaster in Germany’s Ahr Valley. As they stand face to face with you, they’ll describe how they were trapped by the rising waters and feared for their lives. The augmented reality technology lets you experience the deluge and destruction for yourself. - When you play the Save the Sea game, your classroom turns into an ocean, with plastic waste floating in it. You dive through a portal into the water and use a gripper to fish out the rubbish and earn points. At the end, you’re awarded a medal. There are also bonus bottles with animated information. - Step into a virtual environment and experience the devastating regional forest fire in Gummersbach, Germany, as well as the dangers faced by residents and volunteers during the rescue operations. One firefighter recounts what it was like being up close to the blaze. - Four young people join you virtually in the classroom to talk about the different ways in which climate change has impacted them. Anna is a farmer from Overath whose cows suffer from the heat. In Dinslaken, Aaron is cultivating a forest. Tina lives in Kuckum, a village affected by lignite mining. A Fridays for Future activist, Leonie talks about flooding in Uganda. On top of that, there are facts and additional information (i) on the various topics. Unser Fazit ist sehr positiv: Das Team war hervorragend vorbereitet, sympathisch und hat schnell einen guten Zugang zu unseren Lernenden. Besonders überzeugt haben uns die tolle Gestaltung und die sehr gute Qualität der Videos. Die Inhalte werden anschaulich vermittelt und die Lernenden waren begeistert. Als Anregung für die Weiterentwicklung würden wir uns wünschen, dass die Aufgaben aus dem begleitenden Lehrmaterial stärker direkt in die App integriert werden. Denkbar wäre beispielsweise ein Quiz- oder Rätselprinzip, bei dem die Lernenden die Videos aufmerksam verfolgen müssen, um Fragen zu beantworten und im Lernprozess weiterzukommen. Dadurch könnte die aktive Auseinandersetzung mit den Inhalten noch stärker gefördert werden. Mit der Klima App haben sich heute 15 Schülerinnen und Schüler beschäftigt. Sie konnten Einblicke in das Thema Fake News vs. Fakten erhalten und sind mit der digitalen Variante des Unterrichts äußerst abwechslungsreich beschäftigt worden. Die App eignet sich hervorragend, um sie im Unterricht zu verwenden und wird an unserer Schule gewiss zukünftig genutzt. Die App ist einfach Hammer!!! Ich wollte sie zu Hause ausprobieren, da ich das Klima und vor allem den Klimawandel ein sehr, sehr wichtiges Thema finde und versuche immer mehr darüber zu lernen. Die App sah total vielversprechend aus und hat meine Erwartungen auch noch übertroffen! Das Wissen wird total lebendig und transparent rübergebracht und man hat wirklich da Gefühl alles durch das virtuelle Erleben noch besser nachvollziehen zu können. Die App selber ist auch sehr ansprechbar gestaltet. Damit können Kinder erfahren was Extremismus bedeutet und wie man mit Propaganda Medien Material umgeht. Es ist immer schwierig mit Schülern über den 2.WK zu sprechen und Ihnen eine Vorstellung davon zu geben wie so viele Menschen im Namen des Guten so etwas schlimme Dinge unterstützt haben. Hier kann jeder Schüler die Erfahrung parallel machen. ### 1/5 — Nicht empfehlenswert *2024-09-25* Ich war sehr interessiert, was diese App an Wissen vermittelt. Muss allerdings sagen, dass ich sie für Kinder ( empfohlen ab 4!!!!! ) und Jugendliche absolut ungeeignet finde. Eine mit Horror Musik untermalte brennende Erde an Nord und Südpol. Was soll das ? Außer Panikmache. Ich, mit Mitte 50, war absolut abgeschreckt von der Aufmachung. Das Wissen das angeblich vermittelt wird ist nur negative Stimmungsmache. Kein richtiger Fakten und Zahlencheck. Das scannen des Fußbodens, damit eine sprechende Person erscheint ( mit Flammen im Hintergrund ), holt evtl ältere Menschen ab, aber keine Jugendlichen. Ich kann nur von der App abraten. Was ich absolut ärgerlich finde, dies wird mit den GEZ Gebühren der Bürger bezahlt. ### 5/5 — Erstaunlich gut *2024-04-30* Der Rudi und ich hatten heute diese fantastische App gefunden und direkt ausprobiert. Wir haben uns sie gründlich angeschaut und festgestellt, dass sie sehr gut programmiert und wir trotz unseres Vorwissens viel gelernt haben. Technisch hat es uns sehr überzeugt. Ebenso wurden wir emotional sehr mitgenommen und konnten sehr viel lernen.
