## What is DietAssistant for PKU?

DietAssistant for PKU

DietAssistant is the perfect Phe/Protein Calculator for people with the inborn congenital metabolic disorder PKU.

Get the Phe/Protein content of your consumed products conveniently calculated by DietAssistant. Add eaten foods to your daily protocol to always have a perfect overview of your daily diet. All content of your daily logs will be stored on your iCloud, in order to have all data available on any device, connected with your Apple ID.

Thanks to the progress bar, you always see how much Phe/Protein you can still eat.

With DietAssistant it is possible to calculate your daily Phe or Protein consumption. You can change your calculation mode from Phe to Protein and vice versa anytime in the app's settings.

You can access past days and edit them in the calendar. Edited days are marked in the calendar, if you exceed your phe level/protein level the according day will be marked red, otherwise it will be marked green.

With DietAssistant it is possible to export your daily log to PDF and share with your doctor or print it.

With more than 1300 foods and products from many popular manufacturers DietAssistant offers you a huge selection, which can be supplemented by your own products.

For the supplement of the food database with own products you don't even have to know the Phenylalanine content, it is enough if you enter the protein content, so that DietAssistant can calculate the Phenylalanine content related to 100 grams for you.

To add own products you can just scan the barcode of a product. DietAssistant will get you all the nutritional facts of this product and enter them in the form. All you need to do is pressing a button. 

Store and edit your blood values and have them displayed in a chart to monitor and track your diet.

You can change the units used for blood values anytime in the app's settings.

Just create and edit reminders so you never forget to take your amino acids.

Die App ist sehr hilfreich im täglichen Einsatz und auch sehr intuitiv. Leider klappt die Synchronisierung mit anderen Geräte nicht

Leider kann ich keine eigenen Produkte mehr absichern, sobald ich auf speichern drücke, übernimmt es keine Daten.  

Dann gibt es auch ein Problem mit dem Barcode-Scanner. Sobald ich den Barcode des Produktes scanne, bekomme ich die Daten, doch kann diese nicht absichern. Da sie auch sofort wieder gelöscht werden sobald ich auf ,, als eigenes Produkt speichern“ gehe.

Es wäre sinnvoll, wenn man die App mit anderen teilen könnte, z.B. bei Nutzung der Daten für ein Kind.

Ich finde die App super was ich blöd finde das ich nicht mehr als 2 Produkte in meinen Favoriten hinzufügen fügen kann. Wenn ich noch eins hinzufügen möchte wider es nicht angezeigt und auch nicht gespeichert. Sonst ist die total super und ich kann sie nur empfehlen

Find die App super. Man kann alle Mahlzeiten tracken und hat einen guten Überblick. 
Finde es super das man eigene Produkte hinzufügen kann.
Hier fände ich es schön, wenn man auch ein eigenes Bild für das jeweilige Produkt hinzuzufügen könnte, damit die Tagesübersicht mehr Spaß macht und noch übersichtlicher ist :)

Die App hat fast alles, was ich zur Begleitung einer PKU-Diät brauche. Toll wäre es noch, -- - wenn ich auch im Rezeptbereich eigene Rezepte hinzufügen könnte.
- wenn ich die einzelnen Einträge zu Mahlzeiten zuordnen/zusammenfassen könnte, z.B. Frühstück, Mittagessen, Zwischenmahlzeit, Abendessen, Snack.....

Ich muss leider anmerken dass bei der Neuanlage von Produkten / Gerichten , die Gewichteingabe (Gramm) nicht mit Komma möglich ist. Zum Beispiel bei den Hipp Reiswaffeln

Diet assistant has a pretty large database of foods right out of the box that you can search and pick for your PKU food. It also has a switch between measuring phe and measuring protein, which is handy for someone in the UK as myself who doesn’t measure in phe 😂 it also has a blood spot tool so you can keep track of your progress on your PKU diet. All on all a very good app!
