## What is DietTribe NZ?

DietTribe is a directory of dietary-friendly products and venues, built for people who need to get it right: coeliac disease, food allergies, and strict medical or religious diets. Choose New Zealand or Australia in Settings.

PRODUCTS
Scan a barcode and instantly see whether a product is verified gluten-free, dairy-free, or suitable for other dietary needs. Browse ingredient lists, nutrition values and allergen declarations contributed by the DietTribe community.

VENUES
Find restaurants, cafés and food trucks near you, and see which dietary options each venue offers and how well that information has been verified.

CONTRIBUTE
Help grow the directory by submitting photos of product labels or sharing venue information. Every contribution is reviewed before it is published.

CONFIDENCE RATINGS
Listings are marked Verified, Unverified or Unknown, so you always know how much to trust what you're seeing. We publish facts, not reviews or opinions.

NEW ZEALAND AND AUSTRALIA
New Zealand is our home market, with the deepest coverage. Australia is a preview and growing. If something's missing where you are, submit it and help fill the gap.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.0.8 — 2026-10-02

DietTribe is now Australia-ready.

• Choose New Zealand or Australia in Settings. Australian coverage is a preview and still growing, so you can help by submitting venues and products.
• Scan results now show the full ingredient list, nutrition values and the terms that matched your dietary needs.
• "May contain" trace risks are now clearly separated from products that are fully compatible.
• Fixed read-aloud for ingredients and opening hours not starting.

### 1.0.7 — 2026-08-24

NEW: Instant Product Check
Scan a product we don't have yet and get an immediate preliminary read — coeliac, gluten intolerant, and lactose intolerant compatibility, plus nutrition traffic lights — usually in under a minute, while your submission goes to our team for full review. Clearly marked as preliminary and not yet reviewed by DietTribe, with a retake option if your photo can't be read.
NEW: Markets
Farmers markets and food markets are now in the app — browse by location, see upcoming dates, and jump straight there from any venue that also sells at a market.
NEW: Report an inaccurate venue location
If a venue's pin is in the wrong spot, drag the map to where it should be (or use your current GPS position) and send us a correction — right from the venue page.
NEW: Vegetarian and vegan preferences
Added to your dietary profile for nearby venue alerts.
NEW: Gluten Free Auckland Show 2026 (NZ)
Exhibitor list and Masterclass Arena schedule for the show on Saturday 31 October at Due Drop Events Centre, Manukau — right in the app.
IMPROVED
Old shared links to a renamed product or venue now redirect automatically instead of showing "not found"
Ingredient photo text detection is more reliable, including for non-English labels
Fixed the scanner camera not resuming properly after returning from a submission
Food-court venues now show their vendor list on the venue page instead of only linking out.

### 1.0.6 — 2026-08-12

What's New in 1.0.6

• Read Ingredients aloud — product pages now have an audio reader for ingredient lists, with adjustable text size and playback speed that's remembered between sessions.

• Hear a venue's hours — tap the speaker icon next to a venue's open/closed status to hear today's hours and the full week read aloud.

• Get Directions — one tap on a venue page now opens it directly in your maps app.

• Easier-to-spot Help button — it now has the same pulsing highlight as the filter buttons, so it's harder to miss.

• Fixed the text-size preview in Settings — each option (Default/Large/Larger/Largest) now shows what it actually looks like, instead of every option changing size together.

• Clarified that the "Load images" setting also covers venue photos, not just products.

• General stability and compatibility updates under the hood.

### 1.05 — 2026-08-03

Accessibility, straight from the label:
• Listen to a product's ingredients read aloud, with adjustable text size (14–36pt) and playback speed — handy if small print on packaging is hard to read.
• Tap the speaker icon on a venue page to hear today's status and opening hours instead of reading the table.

Getting there is easier too:
• New "Get Directions" button on venue pages — jump straight into Apple Maps, Google Maps, or Waze.

Also recently added:
• App-wide text size setting, for easier reading throughout the app.
• Venue pages now show whether a place is open right now, with today's row highlighted in the hours table.
• Clearer "More filters / Fewer filters" button when searching venues.
• Product pages show when the ingredient list was last checked.
• "Venues" tab renamed to "Venues & Menus" for clarity.
• Menus can now refresh automatically for venues that opt in.

Bug fixes:
• Fixed the "Venues & Menus" tab label wrapping oddly on some screens.
• Map now tracks your live location instead of a one-time snapshot.
• Fixed share/save icon overlap on product cards.
• Fixed some correct dietary results showing as unsafe by mistake.
• Barcode scanner guide no longer implies you need pixel-perfect alignment.

### 1.04 — 2026-07-25

What's New in 1.0.4

• Venue menus now group into clear sections (Breakfast, Mains, Drinks, etc.) with a quick filter bar, so you can jump straight to the part of the menu you care about instead of scrolling one long list.

• Improved the accuracy of dietary compatibility badges across search results and product pages, so coeliac, gluten-free, and lactose-free indicators reflect the correct status more reliably.

• Product pages now show when we last checked the ingredient list, so you can judge how current the information is at a glance.

• Various under-the-hood stability improvements.
