DigiDecoder is a universal ham radio digital modes decoder and encoder. Use the built-in microphone or connect an audio cable directly for better input quality.

One app for all the signals! The correct digital mode is automatically recognized and decoded in real time with an animated waterfall display.

Quickly encode and send beautiful SSTV images, plus CW, FT8, and Packet messages. Bluetooth and network TNCs for Packet are supported as well.

### 5/5 — Missing waterfall fixed. Many decode modes

The initial version of this app did not fully function for me, not producing a waterfall. The updated version now works as it should. It can control your radio, but does not have general CAT control for expanded utility. UDP output helps with integration with Rumlog and other compatible loggers. 

We should very strongly welcome alternatives to the Macintosh version of WSJT-X with its silent, unauthorized, and permanent OS kernel modifications. Digidecoder leaves the OS alone and works quite well as a decoder.  It has allowed me to operate multiple bands at once by running multiple different digital apps. One interesting feature for these new Mac digital developers to add would be a mechanism to simultaneously operate more than one radio on different bands from one app.

Autodetecting and decoding as many digital modes as possible is exactly where I wanted it to shine, so I'm glad that came through.

On the waterfall: it's a core feature and works here in my testing, so if it's blank for you I'd genuinely like to find out why. It needs an active audio input (and microphone permission) to draw, and on the Encode tab it's hidden by design while you transmit. If it stays empty during normal listening, contact me over email and I'll help you track it down, or fix it if it turns out to be a bug.

On CAT control and logging: those are intentionally outside DigiDecoder's scope, but they're exactly the focus of my other app, ShackPilot. It adds CAT/rig control, built-in logging, and even remote control of your station from an iPhone or iPad. If that's the kind of integration you were after, you're very welcome to give it a try.

### 3/5 — Decodes modes. No waterfall

This is a basic app for decoding a wide range of digital signal types, and includes exchange protocol control for modes such as FT8. It will generate and send the digital modes, and key the radio via various PTT types—but does not have CAT control. There is no apparent direct log integration with RUMLOG or others. Transmitting is via the “Encode” tab,, hiding the waterfall. The waterfall does not appear to work at all, presumably a bug. This app’s strong suit is autodetecting and decoding a very large number of digital encoding types. Radio control and system integration, less so.

Caution nowhere either here or on the website does it say that there is a short free trail and then you’ll be forced to subscribe or buy. It mentions in app purchase but that usually implies some additional functionality over a free base that you pay for. This is tbe worst kind of deceitful marketing. Shame on you developer. Please reward him by not downloading this app.

**Developer response:** Apple's generic "In-App Purchase" label can read like a typical freemium app, so I understand the confusion. Back when you tried it, the free trial ended and then asked for a purchase, and hitting that paywall understandably felt like a surprise. That's on me, and I've since changed exactly that: the 7-day free trial is now built in up front, so there's no paywall after it. When the trial ends you can keep going with a low monthly plan, or pay once, not much more, for lifetime access. Nothing is charged during the trial and you can cancel anytime.
