There is no way to increase the volume of the clap from inside the app. i had to exit the app and go to another app with sound and increase the volume to maximum. After doing this I could go back to the app and get the clap at full volume of the ipad. The clap can be initiated via volume buttons but use of the lower volume button will lower the volume of the clap, but the reverse for the increase volume button is not so repeatedly have to exit the app and find some other clip with volume to reset. The scene increment only seems to work with a single finger swipe through integer numbers and not as the app says to two finger swipe to do number letter scene increments. Lastly, the timecode display option will only do 100ths of a second in time of day mode. It will do frames in the timecode, but there is no option to set the time of day with frames. Again, this is not ties to any real master timecode generator so the frames would not be accurate anyhow. Instead of using the volume buttons to avoid the changing volume issue is possible by swiping across the screen to initiate the clap, but getting your hand in front of the slate when clapping is just bad technique. ### 3/5 — Decent *2021-07-22, version 1.95* Not very intuitive for such a simple app. Also I am unable to control the volume of the slate. Soft clap is inaudible ### 4/5 — Great app, Music mode could use adjusting *2020-11-30, version 1.95* Please display the music cue timecode as soon as the cue is selected, not just when the clap is triggered. With music videos, there is not enough time to leave the slate in the shot, so we need to see the cue timecode way before the clap. ### 4/5 — bug report *2020-09-14, version 1.95* In the middle section I enter 200914_0004 which is a filename I need to display, but the app inserts a space between the 9 and 1. Is that a bug? I want exactly what I type to be displayed. Fix that and I would rate this useful app 5 stars. ### 3/5 — Visual is too short *2020-06-02, version 1.95* Good app except the visual clapper disappears too quickly. This is suppose to make synching audio and video easier but that really doesn’t help much when you’re spending precious minutes trying to synch and still end up being off. It’s just a second too short. I would definitely purchase the add free version if they could fix that little issue. I would hate to give this such a low rating for a small but vital problem. ### 4/5 — Really good. Some suggestions. *2020-05-13, version 1.95* This is really good and really easy to use once you get used to it. I didn’t realise at first that you could edit the field titles - that’s nice. I also went through 3 days of intensive shooting before I realised you can save different slates - which would have been such a useful feature if I’d known! I’d like to be able to choose a different (more normal looking) font for the main red section in the centre. It’s fine for numerics, but for text it’s too hard to read.. Also ability to see seconds from the system time would be nice. And finally I’m not too clear on making sense of the different modes for the centre (red) part so would be nice to have an explanation for that somewhere, plus the ability to cycle backwards through them as well as forwards OR even better, a small icon for each so I can jump directly between them... But overall this is a small, pretty simple but immensely useful little app and I was more than happy to pay the nominal amount to remove the ads. There doesn’t appear to be a method to get timecode in or out. ### 4/5 — Very useful but *2019-11-14, version 1.93* One small irritation is that the auto take increment only advances after the clapper. It would be far more useful to have it advance on the first button press of the volume with a second press starting the countdown. ### 2/5 — Clap not loud enough *2019-11-02, version 1.93* I really want to like this app but I am frustrated by the seeming inability to adjust the volume of the clapper. The clap and tone volumes are far too quiet to be of use. I even paid for the no ads version thinking that it might solve the problem. No dice. It’s a shame really because it’s an otherwise very well designed app. I hope that I’m overlooking something and open to suggestions but for now I’m afraid I have to rate this app “low.” ### 4/5 — Help *2019-06-02, version 1.93* Is there another way to teigger the clapper? When I use my volume up button immediately after the phone goes into the alde to tuen phone off mode? ### 4/5 — Pretty Good App BUT *2019-03-07, version 1.93* Would give 5 stars, but the fact that you can’t edit slates is a real drawback. I can’t figure out how to add new slates. Needs an update REALLY bad!!! Difficult if not impossible to plan a multi-day shoot. ### 5/5 — The app everyone in film and video should have *2019-02-05, version 1.93* When I’m ready to film this is the tool I turn to. It gives me more data for each take and that makes logging easier. The quality and reliability of this app make it outstanding. If you do any editing make sure it’s being used every time the cameras are running. It saves time and money and reduces the piles of hair around the editing bay. ### 4/5 — Very useful, would like to see iCloud integration *2018-09-07, version 1.92* I use this clapper in my video studio where I have several ipads. It would be useful to sync via iCloud. I don't get it. ### 2/5 — Can’t hear the clap and can’t change volume *2024-10-21, version 1.95* Downloaded it, set up frame rates and how to alter text, worked out how to clap… but it’s really quiet, so no chance of a neck mic picking it up and having read through the (very hard to find) instructions, it just says that the system will control the volume and I don’t seem to be able to turn it up at all?! Useless, and pretty embarrassing in front of a client. ### 2/5 — Some things don’t work *2020-10-17, version 1.95* If you make more than 1 project with the same name, even if you edit the second one, after visiting the main screen it reverts back to the original you duplicated. So you can’t save multiple slates with different scene names but with the same project name. Edit: actually the system is all kinds of messed up, you can’t save multiple slates. They all default to the first one. Deleting them causes issues too. Also if you click the + to go to the project selection, you can only click the create new project button before touching anything, if you scroll your projects, the create new button greys out and you can’t click it, so you have to go into a project and leave again and not touch anything. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Digislate is a nice app *2023-11-24, version 1.95* You can do different sounds of the digislate in settings in this app ### 5/5 — AMAZING APP with a very tiny flaw *2021-08-01, version 1.95* This app is everything i needed and more but syncing audio is hard with the clap vanishing the second it claps. If it remained on screen for a second after the clap it would make it a thousand times easier for audio syncing. That is really my only pet peeve with it and I use it daily on the film sets that I am apart of. Thanks! ### 5/5 — Quite happy *2020-05-21, version 1.95* I started using DigiSlate to help determine audio offsets when doing live streams. Quite helpful with that and I’ve subsequently started using it when actually filming live streams. By then I know what my offsets need to be but using the slate let’s me confirm that my camera and mixer settings are still in place. Also useful to have the text (on the slate) put into my raw video file. I also purchased the $2.99 remove-ads in-app purchase. The cost is trivial and programmers should get something for their work. ### 5/5 — You should Probably Upgrade *2020-01-10, version 1.93* It’s a great app, but just know that the free version has ads, and the ads DO HAVE AUDIO. I found this out the hard way during a shoot and had to quickly exit the set. ### 5/5 — Perfect for my class *2019-08-06, version 1.93* I teach video production and as the students rotate through the various positions each day, I have magnets on the board to show what each student is doing so that when we watch it later, we know who was doing what. When we shoot outside, however, it’s hard to fit all the names on my traditional slate (which uses chalk). This is a great way to list the key positions. When on-location, we are typically in very noisy areas (school plays and such), so the triple-clap is great. Also, being able to switch from a black slate to a white slate is perfect, since cellphones look very different outside vs. inside. I spent the few bucks to get rid of the ads (it’s really much less than a Starbuck’s latte). Well worth it! ### 5/5 — SUCH A GREAT APP *2019-04-08, version 1.93* This app is awesome.
