### 4/5 — 🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨

Can you Please add a setting where we can reverse position of the pads like you did on DigiStix2 you don’t have to modify the app if you don’t have a button for it just add it in the Settings app

### 4/5 — Très bon mais...

*2020-05-28*

Bonjour,

### 4/5 — Almost perfect, I have a wish list...

*2020-05-19*

This is great value, and has a ton of great features to bring your drum patterns to life.
After using it for a while, I can’t help but wish there were a few simple improvements and new features that would make this easily the best drum app on the market...
1. Double click on any parameter to reset to default, whether it’s the mixer, effects controllers, anything. This is becoming standard in apps now, and it really stands out that you can’t do this here. Especially as a lot of the controls are small and it’s fiddly to get them back to their original setting.
2. Add an endlessly randomising function, so that with every loop of the pattern, the selected drums randomise again. This is a game changer for me, and would create endlessly humanising and moving elements to a pattern. Just one little button could change this app into something extremely powerful (Patterning and Playbeat have this function)
3. Add chorus send for individual instruments (like you’ve done with reverb and delay send)
4. EQ per instrument would be amazing!
5. Sample splicing and assign, so that you can take a drum loop sample, break it up and assign to pads without having to do each sample individually from scratch each time.
6. Add a fill button, and assign a pattern. So you hit that button, it plays the fill and immediately returns to the last pattern again.
7. Pattern switch sync mode. So that when you change patterns, it waits until the end of the pattern before switching. At the moment, it interrupts the current pattern causing messy changes. This is more of a performance mode, but still - fantastic to have.
8. Song record mode. Allows you to record manual pattern changes and build up a song that way... much more of a performance based way of creating a song, rather than programming.

A lot of these I can do with the help of other apps, leaving Digistix to handle the guts of a drum pattern. But with these features, I think Digistix could do it all.

Lots of new ideas there from a fan of this app!
Thanks

### 4/5 — Almost there.

*2020-05-07, version 1.22*

Special high fives for AUv3 sequence arranger for you own kits -and super special high fives for the redundancies built into how to get your samples into a pad and the option of replacing or layering sounds and how multiple layered sounds will be triggered.
I tend to default to Arturia iSpark for my staple beats with my own tweaked kits, but only because iMPC 1&2 have midi issues in most iOS DAWs, so I can’t help but compare this app to iSpark, which it immediately kills by how fast it loads. I wish it were a little more intuitively streamline - or I wish i had more time to make its UI second nature - either way I’ll have to give it more attention and get over the weird split in the interface. It is nice that the manual is right there at the bottom of the interface, but scrolling through to reach each part of the UI can be a pain in the ass - don’t know why, it just doesn’t always want to scroll down.

Compared to the other sequence arrangers out there, I’d say 4/5 with definite potential for the full 5 just because of its AU status.
There are crashes that have been consistent and annoying, but I’m sure like usual there’s a fix that I haven’t found yet short of reinstalling.

### 4/5 — Is there a step repeat or drum fill button??

*2020-04-06, version 1.22*

Killer drum machine!! Can’t find the fill button though.

### 4/5 — Perfect drum app for the Auv3 community

*2020-03-18*

This app keeps getting better with every update. I just have one request it’s fairly simple but I’m not if it’s going to happen. I need an attack knob (ADSR) I know there’s a decay knob but no attack knob. The work around would be in audio editing which is to fade in the audio this can be a little annoying sometimes. So please if it’s possible can we get a basic (ADSR) or should I say (A=attack knob)

### 5/5 — YES!

*2020-02-20*

Thank you to the developer, this app single handedly made it possible for me to produce all of my music on my iPad like I’ve been wanting for a long time. I hope this app is maintained for eternity.

Thanks again!

### 4/5 — Great app very flexible

*2020-01-24*

Love the app has practically everything you need for creating your own beats and drum kits. There are a couple of workflow road blocks that need improving.

.1 Drumkit Wave form window should reflect the last pad tap and Change for every other pad tap.

.2 Audio Editor: when using Select tool, taping PLAY should play the selected area and not the entire sample. This important when editing and cropping to ensure we get a good start end for playback and crop.

### 3/5 — BUG MIXER

*2020-01-17*

When The sound mixer example pad snare set to 0 on the mixer this sound not zero because the sound not mute update please....

**Developer response:** You can tap in the header on the drum pad name in the construction grid to mute a pad. I intentionally use a logarithmic scale which doesn't fully eliminate a sound as the "mixer" is more of a balance control which amplifies or reduces the level based on slider position. Since there is a mute I suggest you use this if this is what you are attempting to do.

### 5/5 — Really cool throwback Workstation style drum creator

*2020-01-07*

It has the workflow reminiscent of getting drums out of old workstation keyboards of 25 years ago before desktop DAWs became king, but armed with a tonne of cool new features. If that isn’t enough, check out the creators videos showing how to integrate them with his other apps and you’ll be a happy owner of DigiStix soon enough. Keep an eye out on certain app price trackers and grab the devs well designed effect suites and replace your stock DAW effects, you’ll thank yourself in no time.

### 5/5 — Great, but add sample import prelisten!

*2019-12-27*

This is the best and most straightforward beat making app for use within a DAW like Cubasis. The one thing I‘m missing is pre-listen samples in the import directory. This is a must for bulding a kit fast.

P.S. Thanks for the hint from the Development team: now I understand that it is possible to prelisten by „import from documents“. Five stars for a great app!

**Developer response:** If you copy your samples to the DigiStix documents folder and use the dedicated 'Import from Documents' option you can click on a sample to preview. Alternatively use drag and drop directly from the filer to a pad. There are lots of videos available deomonstrating this on YouTube. Checkout the Paul the Musicman channel.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Too many defects

*2024-09-20*

For one, I think the drum kits all sound like garbage. I hate that high-torque smack snare drum sound. Even when you try to tune it down, then it sounds lull flat like a snare drum you would buy at the Salvation Army, or the Goodwill. For having so many parameters and points of adjustment for tuning, there is very little flexibility. You’re stuck with what is basically the stock drum sound… you just get it in different pitches

The delay and the reverb, neither work at all. The flanger is okay, but there is no adjusting the timing, only the saturation. For creating beats and arranging them, it’s very difficult. This day and age, applications should be self-explanatory. This one is isn’t. Just when you think you have it figured you, you realize you screwed it all up

And the beats i cannot get them to save despite receiving the confirmation that it was saved. I go to open it, and nothing

Yeah, this application is highly overrated. I warned you all

### 1/5 — I would like to have my money back

*2019-11-23, version 1.12*

This app crashes every time I try to use it. I would like to have my money back. Thanks
When importing samples you can’t preview them? Big stupid

### 2/5 — Read this

*2021-12-01*

As a drum machine for teaching it’s great. The sounds are also good. But it stops there. Problem 1, if your iPad goes to sleep or you use another app then return to DigiStix it plays with no sound, so you need need shut the app down and start again and reprogram beat. Problem 2, I’ve saved a few ideas and I get the same issue, it plays but with no audio.

Sound 10/10
Functionality 2/10

### 2/5 — Verification

*2021-02-15, version 1.27*

I purchased this but it’s not suitable for my needs. I have received no receipt therefore I am unable to get a refund.
?

### 2/5 — Has promise but poor documentation

*2020-08-23, version 1.25*

I paid for this app because it specifically states in the description that it allows for round-robin functionality. Although I found where to turn it on, there's no way (that I can find) to stack the sample layers to allow for this. And in the help section of the app, there's no mention of it. The 4pockets.com website appears to be from several years ago with absolutely nothing on there about this app. I wasted my money basically, unless someone can explain how to get round robin to work.

### 3/5 — Possibly a great app but difficult for swing rhythms

*2025-07-15*

This is a very intuitive and flexible app. It’s well laid out and has lots of great drumkit sounds for all musical tastes. As an AUV3 plug-in it’s also very easy to use.

However, there is one maddening thing. When I set the 8th note swing to 100% on a 4/4 meter, it does not produce the proper swing effect of a 12/8 meter. In the long-short pattern of a beat, the long note is slightly shorter than two thirds of the beat and the short note is slightly longer one third. I have tried resolving this by using a 6/8 time meter instead. This produces the swing effect, but the metronome’s BPM still only measures quarter notes. I cannot find a way to make it measure the triplets. This makes the app not ideal for slower swing rhythms especially when synching with some AUV3 hosts. Will give 5 stars if the developers can offer a solution to this.

### 3/5 — Not yet complete

*2022-07-20*

If you play Drum-Breaks with slices you expect that you can switch between kick and snare, so that the kick stops when the snare is triggered and vice versa. This function is called „cut itself“ in fruity loops and it‘s a standard since 2005 (free version). It’s even known from 80ies Atari/ C64-Sequencers. It is different from „retrigger sample“, which only works for one sample, not between all of them.

I am disappointed that an app which could be the most useful for live drumkits is stuck 20 years behind this basic playability, because if you like more realism, for example with modern breakbeat, you can‘t find anything in the app-store. „Cut itself“ would bring this app to a whole new level.

A) Should we really return to hardware sequencers, if we love sliced drumbreaks?

B) Or should we wait until apps that can do it already like samplist or koala are fully compatible with DAWs?

I would give it four stars if it would be updated in version 2, even though i would like to get a refund and wouldn’t update. But if it would be added also in this version, i would give it five stars and update to version 2.

### 3/5 — Disappointed

*2022-01-24*

Lovely app with loads of hidden features. Really wish Developers could fix the song mode as buttons for repeat patterns don’t work at the mo unless I am doing something wrong..

I wrote this review but no response and still the song mode does not function properly so can’t really use it be great to have this fixed thanks !

**Developer response:** Thanks for the positive review. I wasn't aware of any issues with the empty patterns but I will take a look and get it sorted if I find a problem no worries.

### 3/5 — 4pockets = hard working = mysupport

*2021-10-13*

I’ve watched this blossom from its infancy into a superb and extremely useful ios drum app. The dev works quickly at squashing any bugs and has added a ton of useful additions, darn impressive actually. All the apps have a solid and similar design ethos. You know when you are using a quality app because you can dive in and you have some familiarity with certain features and the overall look. I really do like the app design templates, for lack of a better word, with all the 4pockets audio & effects apps. Ok time to play with the newly added auv3 multi out feature! ☮️ edit- please fix the upgrade price it’s more than just buying it outright to digistix 2

### 3/5 — Amazing workhorse with stunning flaws

*2020-03-13*

I've updated the rating as a result of you at least responding here - I'll trade half a star for each of my complaints from here on out...

I sent detailed emails with screenshots showing how there clearly is space on the screen for the control systems and the control knobs, we'll have to agree to disagree on, I've heard those instructions a few times from various sources but they don't stop the cutoff knob from snapping to values of it's own making as I'm trying to make fine adjustments... Great that you're thinking of export options and the other one is probably not as important... I'd rather have these discussions in private over email but needs must I suppose. Thanks for getting in touch :)

I don't normally leave reviews unless I'm praising a product but with this one I feel I must. I want to love this wee drum machine as it can sound massive and had some of the best programming features I've seen but I've removed a star from the five star review it deserves for each of the following flaws.

 1. On the iPhone version, the buttons that affect the notes aren't visible while you edit the notes, you must latch a setting for triplets, reverse etc on a separate screen - there's room but for some reason they're with the drum pads...

2. Export loops from standalone - unless I'm missing something this seems like an obvious one...

3. Automation graph doesn't line up with the note grid so when you're editing stuff there's a real disconnect in the process.

4. Basic envelopes - that can be automated, even just attack/decay, really simple and for me necessary to drum pattern editing.

There's actually one more thing, the parameter knobs on this and all of this devs apps just seem 'sticky' to me and I end up simply not using them. If and when any of these things get looked at by the dev, I'll up my rating by a star for each and lavish as much praise as I can. I have reached out to the dev via social media and email to no avail so far.

**Developer response:** I'm not sure why you have had issues contacting me I am very active on YouTube and Facebook answering any queries I see. I have to say a 1 star review is hardly fair based on your comments. I'm always looking to add new features and implement them quickly if there is good demand. The iPhone has very limited screen space so we have no choice but to limit what is on screen or reduce the physical size which I was not prepared to do. IKt wasn't really developed for iPhone but I didn't want to restrict its use. Exporting loops was something I've been considering, along with envelopes (although this feature was not on the top of users priority lists). The parameter knobs work fine, but don't try and turn them. Drag either up/down or left/right and they will work fine.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great value

*2022-01-01*

An inexpensive multi sampler for my phone? Wow!

Really enjoying making layered instruments from found sound recordings and when paired with Velocity Pad i can have dynamics that rival an acoustic instrument in my pocket.

Just one little weird problem maybe you can help me understand. When loaded as an audio unit and connected to a roli lightpad the samples trigger in reverse. I have tried 3 auv3 hosts and used every midi filter in AUM to no avail. I tried another Bluetooth midi controller and it was normal
Also if i run the app in stand-alone mode the problem is gone. Thx for reading

### 5/5 — Finally Good Drums for Garage Band

*2021-10-13*

I’m about 30 minute into this app. I always felt Garage Band drums just sucked. Maybe I don’t understand how to use them properly. This app makes it easy to get good samples and adjust their volume with its mixer. Finally I can work on some good sounding drums within GB. Hardest thing to figure out was. Slide up to get to the good stuff.

### 5/5 — Awesome app

*2021-09-02*

I was looking all over for a app that could play custom percussion backing tracks at my shows. This app is it and more. Thanks you 4pockets fo such a great app. Just one thing to add in future updates- please let me choose the different patterns with midi control. That would be awesome if I can select patterns hands free with a midi pedal etc.

### 5/5 — Great Drum Machine

*2021-06-29, version 1.31*

Powerful sample-based drum machine with a nice intuitive sequencer. I wish it was easier to map the sequencer to external drum machines, but that’s just me.

### 5/5 — 使いやすい

*2020-10-17*

使いやすい。
指でポンポンとできるのも好み。

### 5/5 — Brilliant App

*2020-06-25*

would even shine brighter if:
- it was possible to switch patterns via Midi Program Change
(like in Digikeys)
- if you could group notes for probability (if Tom1 isn’t played, Tom2 also will not be, for example)

### 5/5 — Best drum machine app on iOS

*2020-05-13*

This is most definately the best drum machine app on iOS and so easy to use.

The only thing that would make it better is if I could switch to controlling different drums on different midi channels, just linked to an incoming note or chord as a trigger.

That way I can play rhythm patterns live from the bass side of my accordion assigning different drums to single bass notes on one channel and chords on another. Ie if I hit a single bass note on say channel 2 it sounds one drum and if I hit a bass chord on channel 3 it sounds another drum or drums.

There is hardware that will do this but it costs hundreds of pounds and I’m sure a man of your genius could put a switch in to do this Paul.

Who knows it might even open up a complete new untapped customer base for this most excellent app.

### 5/5 — Very Nice, But

*2020-05-06*

The power & precision of this beast packs a punch for your rhythm tracks it’s a must have for serious producers .Feature Request instead of just using my finger to write in triplets once hold is activated can we use the pads to trigger the triplets as we play the pattern in the workflow similar to beatmaker 3 & BeatHawk.

### 5/5 — Love this app , one request

*2020-04-24*

This is my favorite auv3 app so far for sequencing drums. Works great standalone and in a daw. Many options and it’s simple to sample your own sounds. My only request would be to add a 1/64 note modifier button for trap style beats. It has everything else, though.

### 5/5 — Empfehlenswert

*2020-02-21*

Wollte mir noch den Sequenzer im Bundle kaufen.
Irgendwie verstehe ich die Preispolitik nicht.
Sieht aus wie ein bug!
DigiStix gekauft 8,90
Bundle kostet trotz gekauften DigiStix 14,90 Euro
Sequenzer kostet 9,90 Euro
?????
