### 2/5 — Goes off

*2017-09-04, version 1.1.1*

I love this clapper because if the style of it. But the software goes or should I say cuts off. In my opinion it needs a software fix. But that being said, I still think it's one of the best clappers at this price point.

### 3/5 — Not bad, but only good for video. Needs 24 fps option.

*2016-04-09, version 1.1.1*

So, the email requirement DOES go away after a bit. Not bad little app, considering it is free. It would be nice to be able to change the frame rates so you could you it for film as well as video work.

### 3/5 — It's exactly what you expect

*2016-03-07, version 1.1.1*

So, for the record: it DOES ask for an email.
You DO NOT need it — the app allows you to bypass it after 15 or so seconds of waiting.

Considering how annoying that is, and how annoying the clap down activation is (I THINK it's double tap) I'm giving it three stars. Otherwise, it works perfectly well.

### 1/5 — Breaks the rules

*2014-12-20, version 1.1.1*

Should not have been approved for the App Store. Will not run unless you provide an email address.

### 1/5 — Pile of rubbish

*2014-11-14, version 1.1.1*

In addition to what others have said about the email address, the actual operation is unreliable.

### 1/5 — Más basura.

*2014-10-12, version 1.1.1*

Sólo hace que solicitar el mail para inflarte a spam. Borrada, claro.

### 1/5 — Requests your email

*2014-08-21, version 1.1.1*

Requests your email then doesn't work, suspect!

### 2/5 — Style without function, start from scratch every time?

*2014-06-25, version 1.1.1*

Every time you open it insists on getting your email address for 5secs or so, then you can skip past it. Could never get to consistently open and close. Opens but won't close. Sound is a faint beep. Not a clap. Time starts upon open, not when it claps shut. Every time you strat the app you have sit through the opening. And worst of all start from scratch filling out the production and director, and other data. So you better track it on paper. What is up with that?

### 1/5 — Don't bother

*2014-06-20, version 1.1.1*

Total con, you need to provide your email in order to get a password to unlock the app. I, naively, did so only to never receive a password. Totally ridiculous.

### 1/5 — Don't waste your time...

*2014-05-19, version 1.1.1*

The app requests your email before you can use it, and won't unlock without a secret word from the email...which doesn't exist. So this app is entirely useless.

### 1/5 — Crap!

*2014-04-11, version 1.1.1*

Putting aside the data collection, the app is crap. Tried typing a title, it won't leave the text screen. FAIL!

### 1/5 — Deleted before use.

*2014-03-11, version 1.1.1*

Could not even test it. It wanted a email and password. Deleted it.

### 1/5 — Requires Email

*2014-02-27, version 1.1.1*

The app demands an email before you use it. I typed my junk email and got an email back. You need to type in the 'secret word' but the email doesn't have one. It just tries to get you to upgrade to the pro version. DO NOT DOWNLOAD!

### 1/5 — Untrustworthy

*2014-02-17, version 1.1.1*

Requires email to receive "secret" word. Says won't spam, but why else would you want the email address for an app like this... Be very wary...

### 2/5 — Needs to be louder

*2014-02-02, version 1.1.1*

A point of a clapper board is to sync audio but the sound isn't loud enough. Please make it louder and no excuses on the iPad's speakers as a limiting factor because I've heard other apps be louder.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Need update iOS 11

*2017-12-15, version 1.1.1*

Precisa atualizar para iOS 11

### 1/5 — Broken email “registration system”

*2016-04-04, version 1.1.1*

This app is useless. Do Not Download it! It requires you to enter your email address to get a secret password, though it promises not to spam you. Then it never sends the secret word to activate it.

It might be the best clapper app out there, but I’ll never know because I can’t get past the stupid registration screen.

The developer cares more about signing people up for his apps than he does about writing apps that actually work.

### 1/5 — does not work

*2016-02-16, version 1.1.1*

Asks for email address, so it can send a password. No password received. Useless download. Will delete.

### 1/5 — Stupid stupid app

*2016-01-17, version 1.1.1*

Stupid and useless. I typed in my info on the slate. And it scrolls to the bottom, and now I can't scroll back up. Stupid app

### 1/5 — Sieht nett aus

*2015-05-15, version 1.1.1*

Das wars auch schon. Wenn die Klappe "betätigt" wird, startet die Zeit. Und endet nicht, wenn die Klappe wieder betätigt wird.

### 1/5 — No good

*2015-05-09, version 1.1.1*

You are asked for an email address before you can use the app, then the app claims that an email was sent to the given address containing a secret code which you must enter in order to use the app... However, the email never arrived...

### 1/5 — Zwangsregistrierung

*2015-03-30, version 1.1.1*

Leider Zwangsregistrierung beim ersten öffnen, deshalb 1 Stern

### 1/5 — Delay

*2015-01-20, version 1.1.1*

The sound should be louder and there is a 7 frame delay between the animation and the beep.

### 1/5 — Email unlock doesn't work

*2015-01-08, version 1.1.1*

Downloaded Jan 8th, 2015. Email unlock doesn't work. Now I'm stuck with a dud on my iPad. Can't believe I paid for this.

### 1/5 — Zwangsregistrierung

*2014-12-21, version 1.1.1*

Ohne emailbestaetigung nicht zu starten.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — A mi me va de lujo

*2017-03-17, version 1.1.1*

Perfecta y gratis....no me pide nada de nada.

### 5/5 — Works fine! I registered my email address, all good.

*2015-09-24, version 1.1.1*

Clapperboard has been simple to use and I love that it can show a timer or the clock time (I use clock time).

I would love to change the field names or have it email me a list of clap times but honestly for free I have zero complaints.

While it was a bit of a surprise to be immediately prompted for my email address on first use, I checked out the developer website and saw nothing of concern.
I have only seen a few emails in the year or so I've had it, and certainly haven't been inundated with spam.
Being on the developer's email list seems to be the only cost of receiving the free app?

### 5/5 — Do NOT be deceived by these bad reviews

*2013-12-26, version 1.1.1*

I downloaded this app with a very pessimistic attitude because of the reviews posted from other users. It is true that the app does ask for your e-mail address so it can send you a secret key to activate the app, but in contrast to what others stated, I received my e-mail almost simultaneously when I submitted it through the app—virtually no wait time for the e-mail whatsoever. I entered the phrase that was sent to me and have had no problems with this app at all. It does not ask me to reenter the phrase to use the app when I re-launch it. I have also not received any spam e-mail from the app or its third-party sources (if any at all). If you’re worried about that possibly happening, you have the option to click the unsubscribe button in the welcome e-mail you receive once you enter the secret key that activates the app.

If you’re interested in a clapperboard app and do not want to pay for the others that are offered on the App Store, this app is a perfect option. I have no complaints from using this app. It may be because of an update to the app as to why I am not having any issues similar to those posted by other users, but all-in-all, this app very much deserves a solid five-star rating.

### 5/5 — Great

*2012-11-11, version 1.1*

Great free simple clapperboard, the Pro version is a great upgrade if you want something more serious

### 4/5 — Pretty good for me...

*2016-10-27, version 1.1.1*

Why all the comments about it being unusable without an email? Tap the 'skip' button and away you go. I like that I can edit a lot of the data however the 'beep' is a little quiet....

### 4/5 — Good for me

*2013-09-19, version 1.1.1*

A much cheaper option than a physical digital clapper board, which they are retailing at over £100!
I would like to see the whole clapper ( or at least a bit more of it) or be able to shrink it on the screen.
I am using it in clock mode to record a concert. This will sync a digital audio recorder up to an hd video camera. I will lay in the audio from the dar in post.

### 4/5 — No way I'd ever go back to a regular slate!

*2013-03-14, version 1.1.1*

I've tried (and deleted) quite a few slate apps but I use this one on a regular basis -- including today. Works quite well. The beep is loud enough to give the desired audio spike in the tracks for syncing external audio to the camera's. It has a Tail feature for those times you get so involved with shooting that you forget to use it in the beginning of shooting.

My favorite feature is the multiple slates. I usually have several ongoing projects, including assorted equipment tests, and being able to pull up a different slate for each is a real plus. It even keeps track of where you were when you bring up a previously used slate. Awesome!

I'd love a notes feature that's connected to each scene. I use the Notes app until that happens. There's a few other tweaks I'd like that I wrote the developer about.

Is it perfect? None of them are, but this app works for me.

### 4/5 — Digital Clapperboard

*2012-11-27, version 1.1.1*

For a free app, this is very useful. It does what it says on the tin, for simple syncing to time of day or time code run. Shame it doesn't sound like a proper wooden board, it's a beep. Also you have to tap the actual area where the board comes down. A simple button elsewhere called 'go' or similar would really help. other than that, what's not to like?

### 4/5 — Wish the upgrade had actually worked yesterday

*2012-10-15, version 1.0*

I loved this app… so when I was offered the upgrade for £4.99 via email.. I jumped at it…. until I spent 6 hours being told it was being modified and to try again later… so I kept trying until it went back to £6.99. Poo!

### 3/5 — I usually don't write reviews but...

*2016-07-24, version 1.1.1*

So this is really the first time I have used a clapper of any kind. However, I know what one is used for and for that, this app lacks the clap. It's got the minute tone which wasn't loud enough for my microphones to pick up on audio.
My solution for a possible fix is to add the option to change it. Either option the clap or the tone. And if you are going to use the tone, option to make it louder so you can actually use it.
Other than that, this app is pretty cool and useful for the grease board portion replacement and the time readout.
