But the software goes or should I say cuts off. In my opinion it needs a software fix. But that being said, I still think it's one of the best clappers at this price point. ### 3/5 — Not bad, but only good for video. Needs 24 fps option. *2016-04-09, version 1.1.1* So, the email requirement DOES go away after a bit. Not bad little app, considering it is free. Could never get to consistently open and close. Opens but won't close. Sound is a faint beep. Not a clap. Time starts upon open, not when it claps shut. Every time you strat the app you have sit through the opening. And worst of all start from scratch filling out the production and director, and other data. So you better track it on paper. Do Not Download it! It requires you to enter your email address to get a secret password, though it promises not to spam you. Then it never sends the secret word to activate it. It might be the best clapper app out there, but I’ll never know because I can’t get past the stupid registration screen. I registered my email address, all good. *2015-09-24, version 1.1.1* Clapperboard has been simple to use and I love that it can show a timer or the clock time (I use clock time). I would love to change the field names or have it email me a list of clap times but honestly for free I have zero complaints. While it was a bit of a surprise to be immediately prompted for my email address on first use, I checked out the developer website and saw nothing of concern. I have only seen a few emails in the year or so I've had it, and certainly haven't been inundated with spam. Being on the developer's email list seems to be the only cost of receiving the free app? ### 5/5 — Do NOT be deceived by these bad reviews *2013-12-26, version 1.1.1* I downloaded this app with a very pessimistic attitude because of the reviews posted from other users. It is true that the app does ask for your e-mail address so it can send you a secret key to activate the app, but in contrast to what others stated, I received my e-mail almost simultaneously when I submitted it through the app—virtually no wait time for the e-mail whatsoever. I entered the phrase that was sent to me and have had no problems with this app at all. It does not ask me to reenter the phrase to use the app when I re-launch it. I have also not received any spam e-mail from the app or its third-party sources (if any at all). If you’re worried about that possibly happening, you have the option to click the unsubscribe button in the welcome e-mail you receive once you enter the secret key that activates the app. If you’re interested in a clapperboard app and do not want to pay for the others that are offered on the App Store, this app is a perfect option. I have no complaints from using this app. It may be because of an update to the app as to why I am not having any issues similar to those posted by other users, but all-in-all, this app very much deserves a solid five-star rating. ### 5/5 — Great *2012-11-11, version 1.1* Great free simple clapperboard, the Pro version is a great upgrade if you want something more serious ### 4/5 — Pretty good for me... *2016-10-27, version 1.1.1* Why all the comments about it being unusable without an email? Tap the 'skip' button and away you go. I would like to see the whole clapper ( or at least a bit more of it) or be able to shrink it on the screen. I am using it in clock mode to record a concert. This will sync a digital audio recorder up to an hd video camera. I will lay in the audio from the dar in post. ### 4/5 — No way I'd ever go back to a regular slate! *2013-03-14, version 1.1.1* I've tried (and deleted) quite a few slate apps but I use this one on a regular basis -- including today. Works quite well. The beep is loud enough to give the desired audio spike in the tracks for syncing external audio to the camera's. It has a Tail feature for those times you get so involved with shooting that you forget to use it in the beginning of shooting. My favorite feature is the multiple slates. I usually have several ongoing projects, including assorted equipment tests, and being able to pull up a different slate for each is a real plus. It even keeps track of where you were when you bring up a previously used slate. Awesome! I'd love a notes feature that's connected to each scene. I use the Notes app until that happens. There's a few other tweaks I'd like that I wrote the developer about. Is it perfect? None of them are, but this app works for me. ### 4/5 — Digital Clapperboard *2012-11-27, version 1.1.1* For a free app, this is very useful. It does what it says on the tin, for simple syncing to time of day or time code run. Shame it doesn't sound like a proper wooden board, it's a beep. Also you have to tap the actual area where the board comes down. A simple button elsewhere called 'go' or similar would really help. other than that, what's not to like? ### 4/5 — Wish the upgrade had actually worked yesterday *2012-10-15, version 1.0* I loved this app… so when I was offered the upgrade for £4.99 via email.. I jumped at it…. until I spent 6 hours being told it was being modified and to try again later… so I kept trying until it went back to £6.99. Poo! ### 3/5 — I usually don't write reviews but... *2016-07-24, version 1.1.1* So this is really the first time I have used a clapper of any kind. However, I know what one is used for and for that, this app lacks the clap. It's got the minute tone which wasn't loud enough for my microphones to pick up on audio. My solution for a possible fix is to add the option to change it. Either option the clap or the tone. And if you are going to use the tone, option to make it louder so you can actually use it.
