Unfortunately, there is no better an alternative as of this writing. The building with INVEA logo should process all INVEA related documents but when you show up they direct you to another place which directs you to other end of the city. American passport is a $130, ID/ Driver’s License in America is from $8 to $20, Birth Certificate in America is from $15 - $35. Ethiopian ID card by birth is $400. Are you out of your mind? Unfortunately tho we are dealing with yet another corrupt and incompetent government system that is literally stealing money in broad daylight. Apparently, if you don’t have a green card you aren’t eligible to get your Ethiopian passport renewed. YES I’m not kidding! The irony is that they ask you to fill out a form and every step seems normal then you make a payment of either $350 or $450 depending on your choice. Then comes the punch in the gut they will send you an email the next day saying your form is incomplete, because you need to provide your green card information. So if you don’t have a green card apparently you are not eligible to get a passport renewal yes you read that right! It’s a complete joke on citizens that reside in the United States without being a green card holder. Why do you charge people money first and then ask for the green card requirement! They tell you to get a support letter from the embassy which is a joke since they don’t respond to email or phone calls. THIS IS A STATE SPONSORED CORRUPTION DESIGNED NOT TO HELP CITIZENS BUT STEAL THEIR MONEY IN A BROAD DAYLIGHT! People if you are not a Green Card holder please be very aware do not complete the payment you will never see your money again and you will not get any support letter from the embassy. It’s a spider web of corruption! They will not refund you at all. Many customers have been complaining about this. There is a class action Lawsuit against vidtrue.INC in the U.S for stealing customers money. It was unpleasant experience to witness how some employees were treated when they advocated for the truth. My yellow card was unscathed clean. The people who wanted to make the new government look bad, insisted that I should bring my old passport from the early 90s. I was able to provide, but I had to make about 6 visits to the embassy. The process was very much straight forward for all the way until submitting the request. The email and text message follow ups were very helpful providing feedback on each steps of the renewal process. Where I was blown away is the fact that I got my yellow card literally 7/8 days after I’ve submitted my requests. For this document to get processed in Ethiopia and sent back via DHL in a timely manner just shows how far we’ve come in the digital era.
