Seems to me that you don’t all start out as the same “dinosaur” at the start of the level and some seem to have more advantages than others as to access to meat.  For example, I saw a player at several lower levels than myself and it was the beginning of the level where we’d barely begun. Of course I ate them…but…they should have at least been the same species at the start. 

There’s a few dinosaurs, but only about four or five until you become  a pterodactyl and then you evolve into two mammals and then some kind of mutated freaks of nature

You’re against AI. No real players. You can be in a game, and mid game a higher level dino can just spawn in on top of you and you’re dead instantly. It’s not like they’ve locked on to just you (they do) but just joining mid game.
