### 4/5 — Not enough dinosaurs

*2021-10-11, version 1.9.1*

I would give this a 5 star review but there is one major problem with this game and that is that it doesn’t have all the animals ever on the show and I want all of them

### 2/5 — Should be free or $.99

*2018-06-29, version 1.9.1*

Not worth $2, it's cute and have a Dino for each letter in the alphabet, with a fact from each but that's all it has nothing more.

### 3/5 — Sporadically closes and restarts

*2017-06-13, version 1.9*

The app has a glitch where it will just randomly close and restart. Very annoying.

### 3/5 — Not very good for reading.

*2017-05-04, version 1.9*

My son loves dinosaurs and it's ok to learn about different dinosaurs. However it's not effective for teaching letters and sounds (which is why I got it). Not a lot to do in the app either

### 2/5 — Disappointed

*2015-07-08, version 1.9*

My kid loves Dinosaur Train and most of all the A-Z song. So of course I bought this app (and the other two DT apps) however the A-Z song is NOT on the A-Z App!!!! Are you serious? Please do something about this!!! PLEASE ADD THE SONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

### 3/5 — iPad 5 star/iPhone 1 star

*2015-02-16, version 1.6*

Works great on our iPad and my almost 3 year old loves it and really gets a lot out of it (she loves the tv show). However on my iPhone 6 it is a completely different story: the buttons and commands don't work for many functions and the iPhone app does not recognize the extra dinosaur in-app purchase from our iPad.

### 2/5 — not iPhone 6 Plus compatible

*2014-11-21, version 1.6*

I noticed there are a number of reviews for older versions saying it won’t run on the kid’s old iPad or old iOS or whatever. We had a similar problem the other direction (with the current version). It works OK on the iPads we have around, but when I had to loan my iPhone 6 Plus in a pinch (using Guided Access to protect my stuff!), we discovered it doesn’t work. The image is about 60% of full screen, and then the buttons don’t seem to work.

### 3/5 — Great app!

*2014-06-27, version 1.4*

My son loves this app. Hate that a lot of the more common dinosaurs you have to buy in a pack (lost a star) AND we've been waiting on the marine pack to release for awhile (lost a star). Hurry up already!

### 4/5 — Great app

*2014-06-17, version 1.4*

The reason why this app does not get 5 stars is because we have been waiting for the water animals for a long time. Other than that is amazing!!!!

### 4/5 — Great app, but in need of updates.

*2014-04-03, version 1.3*

My 2.5 year old son loves this app and the show. Pretty intuitive and loaded with features and good information. My son's favorite is to feed the dinosaurs(particularly giganotasaurus ) in X-ray mode and watch the bone go into its belly.
The downsides are 1. once you have bought a bonus pack if the phone gets turned off, you have to restore the packs which involves signing into your apple account. Also, had the app for awhile now and have not had any more of the 'coming soon' bonus packs become available. Some of the creatures that should have been there from the beginning are: pteranodon, peteinosaurus, quetzalcoatlus, plesiosaur, dinosuchus, archelon, paleopetrocus, spinosaurus...

### 1/5 — App still doesn't work even with version1.3

*2014-02-26, version 1.3*

When I read that I wasn't the only one dealing with this, I knew it wasn't my iphone 4. Nope it is the app that has made my son very upset... Please fix now!!!
I want my money back. Please.

### 1/5 — Does not work

*2014-02-23, version 1.2*

With all positive reviews, I hate to be the negative person, but this app simply does not work. I realize that says it needs iOs 5 or newer.... we got that, the app successfully downloaded, ( which it should not if its incompatible with our system), and still does not launch. I can't even find out how to write to the app developer or ask for a refund. I hope this review gets your attention. Buyer beware !

### 4/5 — Great!

*2014-02-20, version 1.2*

At first I had trouble getting the app to open. After restarting my iPad and redownloading it it works great! My son LOVES it!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Not a game

*2019-05-31, version 1.9.1*

I was under the impression it was a game for education, sorting, and more but it only tells you the names of dinosaurs.

### 1/5 — In-app purchase not working

*2018-11-20, version 1.9.1*

We purchased additional dinosaurs in the app. Every time my child closes the app the purchased dinosaurs disappear. Even when I do restore purchase and they show back up, they disappear when I go back to turn off access to the store.

### 1/5 — Freezing up

*2018-01-08, version 1.9.1*

My son loves this app, but it freezes up constantly and he cries and cries. I ended up deleting the app because he got so frustrated. If they could fix that, I’d get it again.

### 1/5 — Only crashes

*2017-01-15, version 1.9*

So far cannot get this to open at all. Just crashes. Angry to pay $2 (really?!) for this garbage. Already annoyed about absurd in app purchase costs and initial cost. To have it not load as well adds insult to injury. Demanding a refund.

### 1/5 — Poor design and poor value

*2016-07-10, version 1.9*

Though our little one likes the show, there is very little to actually do in this app, and the extra $4.99 cost to access all the dinosaurs will annoy most parents. Some people might consider selling an educational dinosaur app that forces the user to pay extra to access show favorites like triceratops, tyrannosaurus, and stegosaurus as clever marketing; I consider it a rip off.

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2015-08-28, version 1.9*

What is this? There is nothing to do in this app. Only a random voice giving information about Dinos that is way too detailed for kids. And some letters ... That you can look at... I guess...

### 1/5 — Disappointed

*2014-08-18, version 1.5*

My daughter is almost 4 and loves watching Dinosaur Train. She was excited about this app but was fast disappointed that there wasn't any actual game to play. The app is basically an encyclopedia, not at all what we were expecting.

### 1/5 — Doesn't even load

*2014-04-22, version 1.4*

I'm so disappointed because I bought this since my son loves dinosaur train and it said it requires 6.0+ but it won't even load on my sons iPod touch running 6.1. Goes to "PBS kids" screen then crashes so just a waste of money to upset my son.

### 1/5 — Won't work

*2014-04-04, version 1.3*

Logo will come up but app won't load on iPod touch. Everything is up to date. Tried reinstalling app and restarting device. Still wont play. Upsetting since I paid for this app.

### 1/5 — doesn’t support iPad 1

*2014-03-01, version 1.3*

I’m very upset, that this app does not support the iPad 1. My nephew is using his mothers old iPad because she upgraded to a new one. Most people do this. They buy and new one and give the old one to a toddler. You really should make this app to support all iPads.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great encyclopedia & exploratory app!

*2015-10-25, version 1.9*

This app is a vibrant, fun and great exploratory experience. (If you’re expecting a game, this is not what you’re looking for.) My kid LOVES Dinosaur Train and has fun playing with all of the dinosaurs on their pages, and spelling things on the screen with Buddy. The Ultimate Dinosaur pack was well-worth the money as an in-app purchase.

### 5/5 — Great for Grandkids

*2015-09-27, version 1.9*

Still loving this app... My grandson loves feeding those dinosaurs and he is still learning new facts! We love it.

### 5/5 — Great learning tool for kids!

*2014-09-15, version 1.5*

This app is one of the best I've found. What a perfect app to teach my child letters and dinosaur facts. So much educational information in here! Thanks PBS KIDS!

### 5/5 — Best dinosaur app for kids!

*2014-09-13, version 1.5*

My kids love Dinosaur Train and they've had so much fun with this app. So many dinos to learn about. They love feeding them!

### 5/5 — Love it!

*2014-04-12, version 1.4*

We love these dinosaurs! Feeding and seeing the X-rays is our favorite. Great app for our family!

### 5/5 — Great app!!!

*2014-02-25, version 1.3*

My four year old, who loves dinosaurs, absolutely loves this app. It much more about dinosaurs than A to Z or trains. There are 26 dinosaurs that you can choose with the option to buy more. Only drawback is every time you go back to the train it resets to the A car. But the app is well worth the price if you have a dinosaur fan in the family. Here's hoping they keep adding on more dinosaurs.

### 5/5 — We love it!!

*2014-02-19, version 1.2*

Downloaded the app with no problems, hasn't crashed at all like other reviews have stated. My 3 year old loves dinosaurs and this app is excellent! He loves seeing the skeletons of them and feeding them and it has a lot of educational info! Highly recommend.

### 5/5 — Works best for my iPhone 5

*2014-02-17, version 1.2*

Got this for my 2nd gen iPad and it crashes immediately after you open the app. Downloaded it for my iPhone and works great. Guess it's better suited for the newer models. If it ends up working on my iPad I'm changing my rating to 5 stars.

...amending this previous review after updating my iOS on my 2nd gen iPad. Now the game works perfectly. Anyone operating with an older iOS are probably having crashing issues.

### 5/5 — I like it

*2014-02-16, version 1.2*

I like this app it has every thing about dinos

### 5/5 — My kids love it! A fantastic resource.

*2014-02-16, version 1.2*

Yay! This is my 5-year-old's favorite new app. We used it this morning while driving all the way to the Natural History Museum. We had a great time learning cool facts about all our favorite dinosaurs. Each time he named a dinosaur, we could easily find it and feed it... the movements made him giggle every time! Even my 2-year-old loved how the different dinosaurs came CRASHING in! What an awesome resource... we will be using this app for a long time.
