## What is DinoTrivia?

Dino & Animal Trivia — the friendliest trivia game for families, kids, and animal lovers. A huge collection of game modes packed with questions about dinosaurs, wild animals, ocean creatures, birds, bugs, and more.

SEVEN HUBS, 47 GAMES

Trivia — four animal-knowledge games: Road Trip team trivia (perfect for car rides), Challenge Mode (category grid with steals + wagers, up to 6 players), Category Classifier (tap the right category fast), and Who Am I? (five clues, revealed one at a time — Classic, Speed, Survival and Pass-and-Play, 500 animals with fun facts).

Word Games — four puzzles where you uncover hidden animal names letter by letter: Critter Code, Anagram, Guess the Word, and Word Search.

Puzzles & Brain Games — seven brain teasers: Free the Animal sliding-block puzzles, Match Cards memory, Maze (three sizes, 200 levels each), Critter Copy (watch and repeat the pattern), Marble Solitaire (peg-jumping on English, European, and Diamond boards), Sliding Tile Puzzle (reassemble a picture, with star ratings), and Critter Sort (sort mixed towers into single colours — 100 levels plus endless random puzzles, scored on moves and time).

Board Games — eight classics: Tic Tac Toe, Four in a Row, Checkers, Dots and Boxes, Find the Animals, Reversi (flank and flip, four AI tiers), Roll (pass-the-phone board race with dice, power-ups and special spaces), and Mancala. Play 1v1 hot-seat or against AI — most offer Easy through Legendary.

Party Games — five pass-and-play group games: Don't Say It, Draw It (full color palette and brush sizes), Animal Charades, Drawing Telephone (draw + guess + chain reveal), and Create a Story (fill in the blanks for silly stories).

Arcade — fourteen action games starring unlockable animal characters: Dash (endless runner), Hop (vertical climber), Drop Quest (cavern dive with power-ups), Critter Pinball (unlockable themes and ball skins), Critter Crossing (collect & dodge), Labyrinth (tilt-marble maze, 100 levels × three difficulties), Stack-em (physics stacking), Breakwave (brick-breaker, 100 levels per difficulty plus endless), Feed the Zoo (flick food to the right animal, four difficulties), Catch a Critter (tap fast, dodge skunks, chase golden hamsters), Critter Pop (animal match-3 bubble launcher), Critter Chomp (grid snake with four modes and 100 levels per difficulty), Dino Chase (carry eggs home across 50 caves while hunters search — they only chase what they can see), and Marble Volley (paddle game — solo, two-player head-to-head, endless rally). Tilt, drag, joystick, or arrow-button controls.

Critter Sports — five sports games: Critter Bowl (up to 6 critters), Basketball Hoops (Arcade, Free Throw, HORSE), Soccer Penalty (Arcade, Shootout, Trick Shot), Critter Football (Arcade, Field Goal), and Critter Sluggers (Arcade, Classic Slugfest).

READ ALOUD FOR EARLY READERS

A built-in read-aloud feature uses your device's voice to read questions, answers, clues, hints, and fun facts in every trivia mode and Create a Story. Speaker buttons on every question and answer so kids who can't yet read can play fully on their own. Toggleable in settings or the pause menu.

UNLOCK EVERYTHING WITH DINOCOINS

Every game you finish earns DinoCoins. Spend them in the Store on more than 750 cosmetics — themes, name styles, win celebrations, sound packs, badges, trail effects, board themes, card backs, marble and ball skins, bubble palettes, critter packs, hunter packs, paddles, courts, and animal characters. Some are shared — buy a Pinball ball skin once and it works in Labyrinth, Breakwave, Drop Quest, and Dino Chase too.

ACHIEVEMENTS & STATS

Over 600 achievements organized by game. Per-game stats, top-5 leaderboards across family profiles, and completion tracking for every Arcade animal.

Built for ages 4 and up, but deep enough to keep older kids and adults engaged. Perfect for long drives, waiting rooms, screen-time sessions, and group game nights. Supports iPhone and iPad.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 3.0 — 2026-08-14

Version 3.0 — four new games and a lot of new things to unlock.

DINO CHASE
Roll your marble through a cave, collect eggs, and carry them home to the burrow while hunters search for you. The catch is the carrying: you can only hold a few at a time, eggs only count once they're banked, and the more you're carrying the slower you move. Grab one and dash back, or fill up and risk the long walk.

The hunters don't know where you are. They wander the cave looking, chase the moment they spot you, then search where they last saw you before giving up. Break their line of sight behind a rock and you're gone. Where they wander is random every run, so there's no route to memorise.

50 caves, each with its own layout and colours. Four difficulties from Easy to Legendary — the harder tiers don't move faster, they see further, remember longer, and rarely take a wrong turn.

MARBLE VOLLEY
A paddle game with three modes. Play solo against a critter, go head-to-head with two players on one device at the same time, or take on Rally mode, where hazards keep arriving the longer you last: bumpers in mid-court, then a rock ridge sliding along the top wall, then two more down the sides at 130 and 150 returns. Eight power-ups including shields, sticky paddles, and an Extra Marble that puts a second ball in play.

CRITTER CHOMP
Grid snake, reimagined. Eat, grow, and don't hit yourself — across four modes including Endless, Marathon (the pace climbs with every bite), Time Attack, and 100 levels per difficulty. Wild mode adds power-up fruits and combo streaks. Play with arrow buttons, a joystick, or swipe. 55 critter skins and 44 board backgrounds to unlock.

CRITTER SORT
Six towers of mixed coloured blocks — sort them so every tower is a single colour. Tap to lift, tap to drop, and undo as much as you like while you work it out. 100 levels with par move counts and star ratings, plus Random mode for a fresh puzzle at any difficulty. Every solve scores on how few moves you took and how quickly you finished, with a top-5 board per difficulty.

OVER 200 NEW THINGS TO UNLOCK
Hunter packs that swap all four Dino Chase hunters at once — Deep Sea, Safari, Arctic, Mythical, Spooky and more. Egg and burrow styles. 30 Marble Volley courts and 30 paddles. Critter Sort backdrops, tower styles and block symbol sets. Plus marble trails shared with Dash and Hop, so anything you already own works right away.

More than 80 new achievements across the four games, with full stats pages and top-5 leaderboards for each.

REFRESHED SCREENS
The new games get setup screens built around your name, your cosmetics, and a proper look at your best scores. Level pickers use a clean grid with progress rings. Pause menus include sound, haptics, a How to Play shortcut, and a Back to Setup button so you can tweak a setting and jump straight back in.

Level progress is tracked per difficulty — clearing every level on Easy doesn't unlock anything on Medium or Hard. Each one is its own run.

CRITTER SLUGGERS
The baseball game has a new name. Same game, clearer name.

FIXES
• Critter Sluggers wasn't awarding any DinoCoins at all — it now pays like the other sports games
• Basketball Hoops couldn't be hidden from the menu in Settings
• How to Play, Stats, Achievements and the DinoCoins guide all updated for the new games
• Assorted wording and count corrections throughout

Thanks for playing — and a special thank you to Nora, who this whole app is for.

### 2.9.2 — 2026-05-29

Added 18 hand-painted animal portraits to the Pets & Friends roster, ordered right after Benji. Each animal is fully integrated across the four board games (Checkers, Four in a Row, Dots & Boxes, Tic-Tac-Toe), the sliding-tile puzzle catalog, and every cosmetic store (match-card backs, pinball/labyrinth marbles, marble-solitaire marbles, mancala stones, maze player markers).
New animals (in order after Benji)

Prehistoric (6): Ankylosaurus, Stegosaurus, Brachiosaurus, Velociraptor, Triceratops, T-Rex
Wild (5): Sloth, Bobcat, Giraffe, Cheeky Monkey, Penguin
Ocean (4): Hermit Crab, Blue Crab, Mudskipper, Starfish
Creature Kingdom (2): Surf Unicorn, Unicorn Crew (group portrait)
Pets & Friends (1): Otter Pals (pair portrait)

What's new in each game

Sliding Tile Puzzle: Catalog grew from 14 to 37 portrait levels. Solve the puzzle and the picture reassembles into the painted portrait.
Match Cards: 18 new themed card backs, each with a species-matched accent color (sloth brown, raptor green, hermit-crab orange, etc.).
Pinball + Labyrinth: 18 new image marbles with custom halo colors.
Marble Solitaire: 18 new painted marbles.
Mancala: 18 new painted stones.
Maze: 18 new player-marker portraits.
Four board games: All 18 appear in the picker alongside the existing pets and arcade animals.

Pricing
All new cosmetics: 150 coins (same tier as Benji, Cosmo, and the rest of the painted-portrait pack).
Technical notes

36 new image assets added to Assets.xcassets (18 card + 18 marble variants).
18 ArcadeAnimal entries appended to boardGamePets in ArcadeManager.swift.
90 new StoreItems in CoinManager.swift (18 × 5 cosmetic catalogs).
54 cosmetic entries in CritterCopyMarbleMancalaCosmetics.swift.
18 card backs in MatchCardsCardBacks.swift, 18 pinball skins in PinballBallSkins.swift.
Five existing emoji-arcade animals (Brachiosaurus, T-Rex, Giraffe, Monkey, Penguin) now have painted-portrait counterparts. To avoid id collisions, the new portrait variants use the _portrait suffix (e.g. pet_trex_portrait) — they coexist with the original emoji entries, which remain unchanged for arcade-runner gameplay.
No changes to SlidingTileManager — the level catalog rebuilds automatically from boardGamePets.

### 2.9.1 — 2026-05-28

Soccer painted field and balanced keeper
Basketball painted hoop

### 2.8 — 2026-05-14

New game: Critter Pop
Match-3 bubble launcher. Aim, bounce off side walls, pop clusters of 3+ matching critters. Six animal colors, three difficulties, per-difficulty top-5 leaderboards. Bigger clusters score quadratically more.
Progression mechanics
Three ramps lerp over the first 100 shots: descent cadence speeds up (Hard: 8 to 2 shots between drops), new rows get denser (60% to 90%), and specials spawn more often (up to 20% on Hard).
Special bubbles
Locked bubbles need two direct hits. Anchor bubbles only fall when their support is dropped. Both spawn on Medium+.
Shot timer (every difficulty)
Stepped budget tightens at shots 50/100/200. Easy 60s to 30s, Medium 30s to 15s, Hard 15s to 8s. 3-second grace on the first shot. Auto-fires at last aim if timer runs out. Pauses with the game.
3-2-1-START countdown before every run.
End-of-run leaderboard placement on the over sheet — #1 crown, #2 silver, #3 bronze, #4 and #5 ribbon.

New game: Catch a Critter
Tap critters as they pop out of bushes — rabbits, otters, koalas, and rare golden hamsters score points. Skunks and porcupines cost points and stun you. Combo meter, 5-second Feeding Frenzy at meter-fill, 90-second runs, three difficulties.

New game: Reversi
Classic strategy game. Place a disc to flank and flip your opponent's pieces. Most discs at game end wins. Four AI difficulties from Easy to Legendary, plus 1v1 hot-seat. Best-of-3 series with running score.

New game: Sliding Tile Puzzle
Slide tiles to reassemble a picture. Multiple difficulty grids, star ratings based on move count and time, and a per-difficulty pet/animal catalog to complete. No-peek solves are a bragging-rights bonus.
Sound effects everywhere Reversi, Sliding Tile Puzzle, Critter Pop, and Catch a Critter all have full sound effects — placements, flips, slides, catches, combos, frenzies, pops, drops, locked-bubble cracks, and the shot-timer warning tick.

58 new achievements 11 Reversi, 12 Sliding Tile, 13 Catch a Critter, 22 Critter Pop.
New stats pages for Catch a Critter and Critter Pop — lifetime totals, per-difficulty leaderboards, recent run history.

Cosmetics — 49 new store items, all render-live
Critter Pop (28): 6 bubble palettes, 10 launcher color skins, 7 backgrounds, 5 aim guide styles, 4 critter packs (Ocean, Dino, Mythical — swaps the animals, match mechanics unchanged)
Catch a Critter (12): 7 lane backgrounds, 5 bush skins
Feed the Zoo (13): 5 belt skins, 4 food packs, 5 happy-effect skins

Free Classic defaults match the original visuals exactly.
Coin economy High-score coin bonus removed from Catch a Critter and Critter Pop — earnings now scale purely with score + difficulty bonus. ROLL section moved under BOARD GAMES on the earning guide.

Fixes
Guess Animal correctly awards DinoCoins (longstanding bug)
Achievements for the newest games show in the Achievements view
Hub game counts on the main menu are correct
Settings — Hide Games can toggle the new games
Settings — About reflects the current lineup
DinoCoin earning guide documents all formulas
Hub overview help sheets show all games
Critter Pop iPad layout — playfield now centers correctly with visible wall rails so you can see where bubbles bounce
Critter Pop coordinate rework — fixed a latent bug where descents could randomly drop bubbles
