Not on the remote!!!! ### 2/5 — Frustrating *2020-10-03* I’ve had this app, off and on, for a few years now, in the beginning it worked great! Found all of my DirecTv boxes then there was an Apple update, think it was the iOs11 or ?? and it stopped working completely, so I deleted it and after a few months, guess they fixed the issue and again, worked great, seamlessly. BUT here we are again, another Apple update, what are we on now iOs 14?? But again, app stopped connecting and can’t find ANY receivers no matter how many times I delete and reinstall or try to manually connect, still says I’m not on “network” but clearly I am. Gonna delete and hope they update so I can reinstall and use it again. ### 2/5 — Big Step Backwards *2020-06-24* Used to work fabulous with only hardcoded ip addresses. Now it is terrible. Discovery doesn’t usually work. App forgets my hardcoded ip addresses. If the system is off and I try to add back a hard coded address, it doesn’t work. Because of all this, the app is worthless unless the directv Box is already turned on. It may or may not work on any given day. Don’t be fooled into thinking that if the free version works then this paid version will work. While the free version has limited functionality, at least it actually works. This paid version is at best a crap shoot not worth the gamble. It may accept manual entry of a reciever’s IP address when auto-discovery doesn’t work, however it usually fails to retain the address. The app’s HELP menu is currently a blank page that doesn’t even provide an email address to contact the developer to report issues. How convenient! Unfortunately, it only allows control of one DTv box at a time. I downloaded this app to control multiple DTv boxes, and this app does not scan the network successfully. I went to app settings to select “allow manual”, and that makes the “manual” tab disappear entirely!! It can be a little slow at times to refresh all the DVRs on the Home Screen, and sometimes have to restart a DVR to refresh the IP to the remote app but for the cost this has been an incredible resource for our business. Been using it for years 3+ years now. I have it on my phone as well as a couple managers and the hosts have it on an iPad. The latest updates makes it useless. 3 Directv receivers in my house, all online. The app on my iPhone discovers 0. The app on my iPad Pro finds 1 and the remote has now been changed to resemble nothing close to my DirectV remote Thanks for the updates]. You should have left it alone. Useless now. Update: Never could find the settings link. Finally read a review. Go into your Settings> Find the app and select ‘allow manual setup’. Now set up your Directv receivers. Great. You can easily look at your router for a list of IPs connected to it. Just go down the list. I tried the first 2. 3rd time was a charm. Simple setup. Was exactly what I needed to watch DirecTV without my remote. ### 5/5 — Must Have App *2016-01-23, version 4.1* This app is so convenient! It works like a charm! The reviews that pointed out that you need a specific IP Address really helped. I knew that my IP Address was capable, so I did not bother downloading the free "lite" version. I don't even bother looking for the remote when my kids misplace it. I just use my phone app for all four of our receivers. Now, I just need to find an app that will control the volume for each type of TV that we have. ### 5/5 — Great app *2015-11-19, version 4.1* Update: New version works great. Nice option to change remote skins. Best direcTv iPhone app by far. The new interface and functionality are great! Is simple to use now that it looks exactly like the remote. Love that I can now see what's on & what's next for my bookmarked channels. Another review says it doesn't work on latest direcTv platform 2.0.24. That was either before an update or they can't read to set it up right. It works fine for me on latest platform. People wanting volume control: the iPhone has no infrared transmitter. No app can control your TV without that! There's a gag app for that claims to control your TV. You can waste a couple dollars on that one if you don't believe me. ### 5/5 — Looks great on my iPhone Plus *2015-11-19, version 4.1* I love this app! Works fantastic even when the regular remote is acting up. For 99 cents it's cheaper than buying batteries for the old remote. I download the free version first just to make sure my equipment was compatible. It took me about 90 seconds to configure it for my house. I don't know why people moan and groan when they tell you to try the free version first? Looking forward to more versions - they seem to update it pretty frequently. ### 5/5 — Awesome! *2015-05-04, version 4.0* With 4 kids, we were always hunting for lost remotes. No more! I downloaded the free lite version first to make sure our receiver was compatible, per the instructions. Once I was confident it worked, I bought the full version. So nice! It's always at hand, it's backlit, and our phones are a lot more likely to have a charged battery than the physical remote. Why didn't I get this ages ago!?? ### 5/5 — Shared App Now Works *2015-04-07* UPDATE: I wrote to the developer of this app. They were quick to respond and fix the family share downloading. I have up the star rating to 5 stars. Best app for Direct TV I've used. I use it much more than the regular DTV remote. I really like this Direct TV remote. I don't have to have my phone in the exact right place for it to work like with the Direct TV remote. After initial setup, the app "just worked" like it's suppose to. Easy setup also. What makes this app 3 stars is the other person on my shared account can not download the app. They can see and download all other apps I have purchased and I can do the same with theirs. Just not this app. I will give 5 stars if/when the app is downloadable for others on shared accounts. ### 5/5 — FOUND SOLUTION FOR GENIE *2014-08-10, version 4.0* If your other receivers other than your (main) won't give you the IP address from (NetWork Setup) which it says *You cannot make changes to Network Setup from this location. Simply go to Settings & Help>Settings>Info & Test>Server System Info>IP Adress. Which is should be towards the bottom if you scroll down. Hope this Helps! ### 5/5 — This is an amazing app! *2014-01-02, version 4.0* This is a great app! It's just as easy if not easier to use than real remote. I never have to worry about connection issues because it connects to Wi-Fi so anything blocking it won't interrupt the signal! I can also use multiple remotes, in multiple houses, On multiple receivers! All I do is select which room and use the remote! It tells me what's playing, bottom line it rocks! I mean, it instructions and everything! Plus I can use it at night because I can see my phone screen!
