### 3/5 — It’s ok

*2024-02-21, version 13.15.2*

It’s frustrating to change frequency of a task, I can’t edit names of rooms etc. but it’s fine

### 3/5 — They contacted me and expressed concern

*2023-02-18, version 13.15.2*

I tried to contact the developers and the email address isn’t good. I hit the button to get the app before I realized there was a fee. They don’t post it up front like many other developers. I am quitting as of this moment and will refuse and dispute any charge to my account.

I got upset too quickly. The cost for the app was correctly posted. I apologize and hope my review didn’t do any damage to the company.

### 2/5 — Love but subscription ruined it

*2022-08-28, version 3.15*

The app is a great tool, perfect for someone who has a problem focusing and getting things done. The one problem was after a week of real progress it tells me I need a subscription to continue the use. I’m a student and really can’t afford another subscription service that isn’t school related and I’m disappointed that something so helpful is now useless to me.

### 3/5 — Needs a couple tweaks

*2022-01-25, version 3.15*

Overall, I find this app helpful and motivating, but there are a few things I dislike:

1. I can’t find a way to retroactively record chores. Just because I forgot to tell the app I did a chore doesn’t mean I didn’t do it.

2. I don’t like that I can’t customize the chores without developer approval. They’ve tried to explain to other reviewer that this is to prevent duplicates, but if a list of suggested chores popped up to try to match a new chore being typed in, that could take care of a lot of that. Not mention there are already a lot of near duplicates (“sweep floors” vs “clean floors” vs “wash floors”)

3. There doesn’t seem to be a way to search for certain chores overall—you have to add a room, and then you can only search within that room’s list of chores.

### 2/5 — Can’t Find Where To Cancel Free Trial

*2021-05-31, version 3.10.1*

I’ve decided that this app is not for me. I thought it was going to help me declutter. It’s really a home maintenance app for houses that are already clean. Now that I know it’s not what I was looking for, I can’t find where to cancel the free trial.

### 3/5 — No so personalized

*2021-03-20*

This app is really good once set up and it fun to use however the big downfall is you can not customize the rooms or add customized tasks. You can only select from a pre written list. If you could do this the app would be fantastic

**Developer response:** Hello there! Thank you for your kind words! We're happy you have enjoyed using our app and it's helped you with your cleaning chores!

We are constantly reviewing feature requests, and will definitely review having the ability to add custom named tasks and areas as well.

In the meantime, we hope that our app has most of the tasks you are looking for and if there are any that you'd like added in a future update, feel free to reach out to us at feedback@dirtfree.net.

### 3/5 — Cant sign up with apple so not sure

*2021-01-17, version 2.5.1*

It looks good, asked me about my flat etc and came up with a plan but the I tried to “sign up with apple” and it crashed and now it won’t open

### 1/5 — no free option

*2020-09-14, version 1.5*

you must pay to use it which is terrible.

edit:
exactly, there is no free version, only a free trial of the paid version

### 1/5 — Have to sign up for very expensive subscription?

*2020-07-12*

Can’t figure out how to do anything in the app without a very expensive subscription. Maybe there should be a few features built in or at least that you can see before signing up?

**Developer response:** Hello there! That’s understandable! For the reason you mention, we offer a free no risk 14 "cleaning day" trial. You can try not just a few features but every feature available during that time. We are regularly bringing updates to the app and making it better. We hope it’ll bring value to you as it has to others. Thanks for your review and please feel free to reach out to us via email at feedback@dirtfree.net if we can help in any other way. If this has resolved your concern, we’d appreciate an update to your review. Thanks again!

### 5/5 — House is cleaner!

*2020-06-01, version 1.0.2*

I love this app! It’s a great way to make sure all areas of house are cleaned on schedule! Some things I wasn’t aware I needed to clean but with this app, I can feel good that I’m keeping my home clean as it should be! Able to customize the schedule and earn badges the more you stick to the schedule. Thanks Dirtfree!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — It will not work right

*2024-06-10, version 13.15.2*

Just don’t like it I need something to use that works .

### 1/5 — Clearly not finished yet

*2023-04-01, version 13.15.2*

Just downloaded this today. I was really excited as I started playing with it. That was short-lived, however. There is no way I would pay for this app in its current state. The concept is great but the process of setting it up is frustrating. It doesn’t work very logically or smoothly. And it’s missing some obvious things, like: when I start the focus mode, I don’t want to see the last task first. Reordering can be done in the edit mode but that doesn’t stick. The list goes back to alphabetical order (why?), so every time I focus, I have to do the same reordering. And the focus timer is totally trial and error, but mostly error. My best-guess of how much time I needed was wrong, but the app won’t give me a chance to extend the time slot, let alone save the true duration once that is known. A task that is done every thirty days automatically gets pushed out a month, even though it needs to be done today. It’s possible that I am doing this all wrong, but without any instructions, I’m doing what seems logical. And that ain’t working. Several maneuvers during setup caused the app to crash. There are other bugs I noticed but I’m not going to keep typing. Bottom line is: $60 for this app is totally absurd. It should be free for now because it works like a beta version.

### 1/5 — App is to confusing

*2022-02-03, version 3.15*

Very cluttered and there is not an every Wednesday or Thursday option

### 1/5 — No custom tasks

*2021-05-16, version 3.9*

It looked like the perfect app...until I realized I couldn’t add any custom chores. You can only select from their list. You can “suggest” other ones, but apparently the developers have to review tasks before you can add them? No thanks, I’m an adult who can figure out what she needs to clean in her own home without someone else approving it.

### 1/5 — Buggy

*2021-05-09, version 3.9*

I downloaded this app but could barely get started. When authenticating with Facebook, the app froze and won’t restart. It is stuck on the loading page with the logo. I hope they get this fixed because it seems like a great app.

Update: Dirtfree asked me to update this review because they fixed the issue. I am no longer using the app because it was too frustrating to use and customize to my lifestyle.

### 1/5 — New update

*2021-03-08, version 3.0*

This update is terrible!! All my tasks are gone and now have different settings that I did not pics!! All my rooms disappeared!! I was living this app until this update!! I wish I had not paid for the whole year!!! Now it is worthless to me!!!

### 1/5 — Froze opening screen

*2021-02-05, version 2.7.1*

Have downloaded the app several times to see if it will beyond the opening screen... but nothing changes ... it freezes and does not go beyond the opening screen...please fix!!

### 1/5 — Crashed

*2021-01-16, version 2.5.1*

Looked like a decent app, but as soon as I marked which rooms I have in my house as part of the quiz, the app crashed and would never re-load.

### 1/5 — Expensive

*2020-12-01, version 1.5*

Over priced app

### 1/5 — NOTHING free about this app

*2020-11-28, version 1.5*

Hey look, a time management app that has managed to WASTE MY TIME! Guess what: if you can’t even enter the app without giving up your credit card info, I don’t care if there’s a free trial period, IT’S NOT A FREE APP. Click “get started” on the first page and it takes you straight to a paywall for Premium service (which currently costs $60/year). Not sure what makes it Premium if there is no Basic version. Misleading practices like this only makes me more certain that these app developers care more about making money than they do about user experience- not worth my time or money.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Wonderful

*2023-12-29, version 13.15.2*

I have severe ADHD and depression today this app help me get through my whole house in just a matter of a few hours. I cleaned up after all of my depression stuff, and it actually looks like a home now.

### 5/5 — An ADHD Gal’s Best Friend

*2021-05-03, version 3.7.3*

As someone who is neurodiverse, I often struggle with maintaining regular housekeeping routines and often find myself overwhelmed when trying to tackle it all. The dirt free app has been incredibly helpful with helping me breakdown tasks by area. I love that there is a list of tasks that I can choose to add to my routine since I can easily forget certain things like, rescaling my coffee maker! I was like, “oh yeah, that’s important!” Now dirt free will put it on my task list every 30 days. I also really enjoy the little motivational awards and “streaks.” Making housekeeping a game makes it way more fun and ensures I’m more likely to continue using this app. I would love it if there was a way to share my stats with an “accountability buddy” kind of like how Fitbit does with their steps so you can “compete” with friends. Oh, I also love the colorful pie charts and scales that show my apartment’s house cleanliness % as well as each room’s individual cleaning score.

I’ve tried TONS of task and to-do apps and this one by far has been the most ADHD friendly. I highly recommend it to anyone & everyone ☺️

### 5/5 — LOVE IT!

*2021-03-12, version 3.0.2*

It keeps me accountable for daily tasks and helps the house stay tidy even with a hectic lifestyle.
It's also a great reminder for those cleaning jobs that tend to get pushed to the side for weeks or months. Completely customizable to your home and schedule! Layout is clean & easy to navigate.

SUPPORT STAFF are wonderful! I was having some trouble getting the app to work on my iPad mini, but after a few emails and a quick update - voila!! Super grateful for that!
Best cleaning app ever.

### 5/5 — The App You Need

*2021-03-10, version 3.0*

This is it! This has everything I’ve been looking for in a chore app. Maybe I want to add specific-to-my-house chores but I really don’t want too much freedom. I have ADHD so I can spend hours setting these types of apps up with super specific things that just set me up for failure. This keeps the chores clear and consistent and rotates them so your day is never impossible. Looking at my long long long list of chores makes me freeze in fear. But Dirtfree takes that option away and gives me daily tasks that I can pick out to fit my home. With the last update, I can now assign chores to my family members which is amazing!! So helpful! And I love how they can either make an account on my phone (my daughter) or have their app linked to our house I set up on their own phone (my husband.) I really enjoy the badges. I need little collections like that to feel any positive reinforcement at all. The percentages of how dirty or clean each room is help too because it lets me prioritize if I won’t be able to get to every chore that day. And I love that the chores automatically roll-over when I do take a day...or two...or a week off from chores and I gotta know where to start to dig out! Any “bug” I’ve found has been tiny and fixed in minutes after I asked for help. I can’t wait to see how this app expands and keeps it fresh because I’m in love!

### 5/5 — More helpful than just a to do list

*2020-07-30, version 1.3*

This app is thoughtfully designed so that it prompts you to clean but if you don’t get to do that job on the day it pops up it’s not a huge fail. And what do you know, after a couple of weeks my kitchen and bathroom are cleaner than ever and I make my bed every morning. It’s also got me cleaning parts of the house that usually feel like a massive chore, like baseboards and doors. It took a few days to get into it but now I’m really enjoying it and it’s quite relaxing knowing that at some point I’ll be prompted to rotate my mattress and dust my light fittings and I can just do it.

I do wish it was cheaper but I’m going to subscribe for a while as it’s helping at the moment.

### 5/5 — Perfect if you don't know where to start cleaning

*2020-07-26, version 1.2.2*

I am the first to admit I have had a long history of neglecting the care of my home. I grew up in a household that cleaned as a marathon chore before visitors arrived so I never established a habit of regular tidying and maintenance. This app is really perfect for people like me who are intimidated by the sheer volume of tasks that need to be done around the house. After requesting a bit of basic information about your home, it suggests a thorough list of tasks and corresponding recurrence on which those tasks are usually completed (daily, monthly, etc.). Once you've set it up, the app provides a short list of tasks to do each day and you mark them complete when you're done. It prompts you (surprisingly gently) if it looks like you forgot to do any tasks on a particular day. There are even badges!

Dirtfree is new so there are a few features missing that I wish were included, such as custom tasks (you're limited to the ones included) and list sharing. The interface can also occasionally be clumsy, e.g. if you have multiple bedrooms or bathrooms it's a little tough to know which one you're supposed to be cleaning. Also, be aware there IS a subscription involved, but the price is very fair for the work put into the app.

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2020-07-09, version 1.2.1*

Really enjoy Dirtfree and all the helpful reminders. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a structured cleaning routine that’s fun/intuitive.

### 5/5 — Clean your house

*2020-07-04, version 1.2*

I like this app because it motivates me to keep and maintain my house clean, I can follow my own schedule , this helps me no to view the chores as a burden , with this in mind I can enjoy cleaning
I’m planning to continue this routine. Thank you dirtfree for thinking about us who wants to be organized and clean .

### 5/5 — An Organizer’s *~Dream~* Cleaning App

*2020-06-12, version 1.0.3*

Thoroughly impressed and here’s why...
I’m a pretty organized person with a busy life who loves her to do lists and living by an agenda. Dirtfree was simple to navigate and understand and this “smart” app took the thinking out of scheduling my cleaning routine. Dirtfree keeps account of my tasks while allowing me to switch up my schedule and I can trust the task list it has built for me for the day- a personalized planner (NO BRAINER!!!). I don’t feel nagged or guilted into cleaning and doing chores! I feel inspired to keep my home clean and tidy and in tip top shape!
Can we also talk about the clean look of the app?!? Love!!! These guys are getting it right and helping me feel accountable and great about keeping my (and my fur babies’) home... “Dirtfree” 😉.

### 5/5 — Dirtfree is a Great Fit!

*2020-06-06, version 1.0.2*

Dirtfree really works for my personality. I really, really want and love to keep things clean. But, if I don’t establish a routine, I know things will get done haphazardly and inconsistently. To make matters worse, I’m also not a self-starter. What I really like about Dirtfree is it makes creating a routine easy. I’m good with running the schedule but not creating it. It’s painful to even try sometimes. 😆 To have that schedule created automatically while allowing a bit of customization as I get adjusted works for me. For people with my “cleaning profile”, Dirtfree would definitely help!
