Major hardening of local storage and cloud sync: collections can never
be lost by sync glitches, deletes stick across all your devices, and if
anything ever goes wrong the app now restores your routes automatically.

**Better race-file imports**
GPX files from ExpertGPS now import with proper track names, and shared
course waypoints show up everywhere — on the map, in the lists, and
editable with a tap.

**Offline maps, your way**

PreRun 4.1 adds Group Ride Chat, smarter offline maps, and a new way
to combine routes.

**Group Ride Chat**
Text your entire group ride from inside the app — no jumping to
another app to say "stopped for fuel" or "washed out ahead." Presets
for common messages, on-the-fly voice-to-text dictation for gloved
hands, and optional audio announcement of incoming messages so the
driver never has to look at the screen. Works alongside the existing
live location map so you can see and hear your crew.

**Merge Items**
Combine two or more routes, tracks, or runs into a single new item.
Tap once, pick the items in the order you want them, and you get a
new runnable file with all the tracks and waypoints in one place —
perfect for stitching multi-stage races together or joining recorded
sections into a master route.

**Smarter Offline Maps**
Route downloads now follow the actual shape of your track in a
10-mile-wide corridor instead of a giant rectangle covering empty
desert. Detail level auto-scales to fit within Mapbox's storage
limits so long routes actually download. A new Storage page shows
every downloaded map, its size, and its zoom range so you can see
exactly what's on-device and free up space. And when you go offline
mid-race, the map silently caps zoom to what's downloaded so it
never goes white.

**Accurate Distance Off-Route**
Distance-to-next-waypoint now reflects the true distance from where
you actually are — direct to the closest point on the route plus
distance along it — instead of pretending you were already on the
route. Plan a Baja pre-run from your garage and see honest mileage
before you leave.

**Cleaner Merges + Sharing**
Merge Waypoints reworked to a single three-dot picker (no more
hiding items and re-running to line things up). Shared route links
now open in the app reliably from Chrome. Discover search drops a
tappable map pin so you can see exactly where the result is before
you commit.

**Custom Icons That Stick**
Imported PNG icons no longer disappear after app updates. Existing
icons come back automatically on first launch of this version.

**Universal Go To**
Tap any destination and get a route. Discover page with search: businesses, POIs, coordinates. Long-press anywhere on the map to save as a waypoint or navigate to it. Tap a group member's puck to Go To them. Automatic fuel-range gas stop insertion for routes that exceed your rig's range.

**Photo Waypoints Overlay**
Show My Photos toggle in Map Overlays. Every geotagged photo from your library appears on the map as a clustered pin. Tap to view. Automatically refreshes as you take new photos.

**Group Ride v4 — Persistence + Public Discovery**
Your group ID persists across sessions so you don't have to share a new code every day. Set a friendly group name that everyone sees on join. Optional "Public" toggle lists your group in a discovery view so anyone nearby can join without a code. New Join screen with dropdowns for Public groups (sorted by distance), your Recent groups, and manual code entry.

**OHV Trail Routing FIXED**
Dirt bike / ATV / UTV trails on USFS/BLM/state land are now routable via Build Route. Previously the routing engine could only route on full-size 4x4 trails. This release fixes that for every OHV-only trail in the country.

**Trail Overlay Tap Fix**
Tap any trail to see its full length highlighted in red — no more "only 1/4 of the trail lights up." Fat-finger-friendly tap detection so you don't have to hit the exact pixel.

**Baja-Scale Performance Pass**
Everything from 3000-waypoint prerun routes to 100k-trackpoint logs is now handled without frame drops. GPS teleport glitches no longer freeze the app. Long recording sessions save without stalling the UI.

**Follow-Camera Consistency**
Chase Cam (double-tap Find Me) and the group ride "Follow Me" mode now use the exact same smooth camera behavior — adaptive frame rate for 10Hz Garmin pucks, compass-driven rotation when stationary, puck-bearing switching so the arrow always matches the camera direction.

**Fixes + polish**
- Long-press map during a Run now drops a pending waypoint (same as Quick Keys during a Run)
- Track log save moved off the main thread so long runs save instantly
- Weather / Tour Mode toggle now cascade off with Audio Callouts (master switch)
- Better landscape support in follow mode (location puck no longer disappears on rotation)
- TTS survives phone calls (audio session interruption handling)
