Played the game for quite some time but it’s easy to see how many times you play against the same computer over and over. Also after countless plays it isn’t that you get worse rather the computer just won’t allow you to win. I played courses that were easy but once your score goes up all of a sudden you are bad at a course you could Always do well on but since the computer tries to make it “harder” you miss shots you’ve always made. In the end it’s a game fun to play for a short time but once they want to you pay money to get the add one the fun ends. ### 3/5 — Easy, Fun but could be soooo much better… *2022-06-17, version 1.22.41* This game is easy to play and is fun too. BUT, the game would be more fun if you could play multiple holes (18 holes would be great). It’s fun collecting new discs and it’s pretty easy to get better and better discs. If you win a match you win a treasure chest which takes either 4 or 8 hours to open. That wouldn’t be bad but you only have 5 slots to fill and you can only open 1 chest at a time unless you want to waste 50+ gems to open one without waiting. And once all the slots are filled you can’t earn anymore for winning matches. So, you either wait 4-8 hours to open a chest or you waste 50+ gems to open them immediately. They should provide more slots, or give money or gems for winning when you have no open slots, or provide 1 extra slot for every 500 gold coins you earn, or some combination of those. I used to play Golf Rivals and enjoyed it BUT I got bored with it because of all the same reasons I’m bored with Disc Rivals. ### 3/5 — Obviously reskinned golf game - not accurate *2022-05-25, version 1.22.41* OK. So game can be fun to play for a while. But as a disc golfer I keep being frustrated by just how inaccurate this is to the real game. After a while it’s obvious that this was just their golf game reskinned for disc golf without any major effort and by someone that didn’t understand disc golf. 1. Discs don’t have major curves like that always. And rarely roll afterwards unless you try hard to do that. And that’s far more advanced than just doing basic throws. It should have been designed to do straight throws mostly. And you upgrade/learn how to curve it for better placement. 2. The idea of sand discs. And rough discs. With limited range. Completely false. And definitely a port from golf. Makes no sense in Disc golf context. 3. The awkward “oops you can’t use your driver disc and now can’t reach the green” with artificial limits on what discs you can use is similarly frustrating. You can throw any disc at any time. Should be the same here. 4. the idea that hitting the ‘pole’ vs going in the basket should be worth scoring at al is just very wrong. Anyway. Worth some gameplay. But don’t expect physics / rules to be anything like real disc golf. ### 2/5 — Wildly Inconsistent and Unrealistic *2022-05-08, version 1.22.41* This game has promise, but it’s basically a ball golf game lazily reformatted to include discs. I’ve played disc golf for years and can attest that at NO time will your disc skip to the left or right as far as your throw was long… Also, one day the game plays fine and the next you can’t even play against anyone because as soon as an opponent is selected, it just kicks you right back out to the Home Screen. I’ve had five chests that I haven’t been able to open for three days now because of a glitch. I can tap on them and it takes me to the screen where you open them. When I tap on them it makes a noise, but the chests never open. Since the game is now, for all intents and purposes, unplayable, I’ll be deleting as soon as this review is sent. Very disappointing for a game that had some promise despite its shortcomings. ### 2/5 — This game has officially been abandoned *2022-05-08, version 1.22.41* This has been a really fun game that I have enjoyed for over a year now. Despite the relentless attempts to get you to spend money, I never did. I put the time into it and built my status up and now that I have gotten to a level 13, this game has been abandoned. It’s as if the servers do not work anymore. Searching for a match, even again let a robot who takes the same predictable shots, aren’t active anymore. It will not even let me open a chest. Again, this game used to be really fun. I enjoyed the challenge, even when I knew I wasn’t playing a real person. This game could have been so much bigger than it was. It would have been nice to see more more courses and less emphasis on the constant begging for money. This game is officially dead. Do not waste your time downloading it at this point. ### 3/5 — Entertains but lacking *2022-05-07, version 1.22.41* Disc golf using a “launcher?” What the heck is a disc launcher? This game also makes it impossible to throw a flat drive without an absolute ton of fade. No adjustment for height, no real disc selection during a hole, no angle of tilt of the disc, no hyzers or anhyzers. This is a convoluted mess that has very little in common with actual disc golf. But nevertheless, I still am enjoying playing it. At least for now. It’s been a week. Probably won’t last long. Hey developers….at least add a simple button at the end of a round that says “play next basket?” that would allow you to continue playing the same person, should you both agree. This should be an easy and helpful game addition. ### 2/5 — Not the best but not the worst *2021-06-08, version 1.20.13* This game is alright. I have a iPhone 12 Pro Max and the screen is cut off at the top so I can’t see how many gems or coins I have. You can’t upgrade your discs until you reach a higher prestige level so that puts you at a disadvantage to others who have played more. The courses are set up so end up in the rough more than the fair way. You also don’t even have to make it in the basket, you can just hit the pin and it’ll count which is a little les fun. You also don’t get gems fast enough to rush opening chests so you can’t upgrade your discs again. Have uninstalled yet but I’m getting pretty bored only after having the game two days. ### 3/5 — Harassing *2021-04-08, version 1.20.13* This game is fun but the option to make comments during an opponent’s turn is sometimes used as harassment by some users. You prepare to take a shot and your competitor has hit “hurry up” 20 times in 10 seconds. They will tap the comments constantly during your turn which is a form of bullying and harassment. If time is allowed to take the shot time should be given with out your opponent being a jerk about you using your allotted time. Remove the comment option or limit people to make only one comment per shot. Playful banter is one thing but being harassing is definitely different. The encourage and good sportsmanship comments are nice to see. I use those and congratulate an opponent on a good shot. ### 3/5 — Fun and addictive *2021-02-23, version 1.71.1* Update: the developers overhauled the game, changed the scoring and a number of other things and now it’s less fun and less interesting. Boring and repetitive hole selection, you might get the same bike for times out of ten. Not nearly as fun as it used to be, disappointing. It's got some flaws but the developers are constantly improving it and its a kick to play. And as you build skills you do better, and you are mostly paired against players with similar scores though abilities can wander within that as scores are not accurate reflections of skills. You can play lower challenge games repeatedly and build skills without advancing your score after a certain number of wins, so your"trophy" score is not so accurate an indicator of ability. I've beaten plenty of people with twice the championship scores as me. And lost to people who were just better though with lower scores and fewer games played. There are some cheats. But rare. One involves aiming at a spot on the water way off course, and the shot carries twice as far as it should. That's irritating because I don't know how to do it yet! But overall, it's a kick and the tournaments are a great way to really be challenged for a ton of games in a row. Great game! I'm 75. I don't play games, except this one and Tiny Wings. I like skill games. ### 2/5 — Fun, but designed to spend money *2021-02-02, version 1.71.1* If you’re looking for a fun game- this is it. But after about the fourth and fifth levels, you realize that you’re playing bots. A lot of them are just guests- yet some of them have profile pics. I literally play the same three bots all the time- a Sean, mahamood, and Kelly. You know they are bots because their rankings and stats drastically change everytime you play them. Plus they will magically be allowed to switch launchers mid game- or at the shoutout (which as a player you cannot. Once you select a launcher at the beginning of the round, you use that launcher the whole time. You cannot just select one when you need it which really doesn’t make sense). These bots will beat you with some crazy throws over and over again, until you either have to spend money or play the early levels to earn money basically starting the game over. Overall it’s a fun game to waste some time, but needs a lot of work and more actual person vs. person. ### 1/5 — Unrealistic! *2020-10-21, version 1.12.1* This game was clearly not made by people who understand disc golf! For the most part, the discs fly true to how they would in real life, with the exception of how this game makes them roll at the end of the throw. The 2 worst things about this game... 1) you can score by hitting the pole. This makes eagles and birdies way too easy and encourages lucky shots. 2) you must throw the fairway driver on the fairway but can’t use the same distance disc out of the “rough” or “bunker”. This concept is from the game of ball golf not disc golf haha. And you should be able to use any disc in your bag at any time. For instance, sometimes you land long on the green and need to throw a mid range, but you can only use the putter and sometimes it is out of range. And lastly, the coin amount to play a match is excessive compared to how much you win. It’s easy to get extremely low on coins when you have people scoring by hitting the pole all the time. ### 1/5 — Game is a complete JOKE! Don’t spend a penny with them til they fix it *2020-10-15, version 1.12.1* In a match today my disc hit the rim and bounced off. The guy I’m playing rolls it up and hits the pole and it counts it!!!! They know it’s wrong because they label it “birdie POLE”. That being said a DISC MUST GO IN THE BASKET to count in Disc golf. Period.. end of story. That is the very foundation of the game of disc golf. Apparently the game developers and programmers don’t understand this! Seriously! This has to be fixed! There are other flaws like throwing from the rough or bunker is made more difficult, again not realistic to disc golf. If you want to make the game more difficult add trees, obstacles, and lots of out of bounds area. That would make the game much better and authentic. I Refuse to spend money on the game until some of these issues are resolved. ### 3/5 — Ok, could be great *2020-09-24, version 1.12.1* So this game like many of these games is FTP up until you reach a certain # of games. For me it was around 300. I was winning 75% of my matches up to this point and the luck factor felt balanced. Since then I’m continually matched with players that have played 1000s of games to my 300 some. Needless to say it’s difficult to win when you are playing people who consistently have two or three levels of club on you. Needless to say the game wants you to spend money at this point and luck decisively seems to go against you about 75% of the time. I have spent some money on it because genuinely like the game but as with all of these if you don’t consistently spend to upgrade your discs then you’ll end up being frustrated being matched with OP players. I will say they are more generous with diamond and money than most of these types of games but it does really matter because the costs to upgrade seem to be exponential. Overall a good, it great game. I think a great solution would be to pair players of similar # of games played e.g. players that have played 1000 games or less, etc would even the field and actually encourage the player to want to spend more because the outcomes won’t seem so arbitrary. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Fun play, but set up for failure *2022-10-19, version 1.22.41* Game play in itself is a blast but the “game makers” need to do some serious and very much so obvious updates. 1-This game will set you up with other opponents for example that have 2x if not 3x the disc throwing power, making it impossible to win. (Solution-all opponents should be with in a 1,000 point radius). 2-The game takes forever. Once the button is released and the disc is in the air, there needs to be a fast forward button that the “thrower” can choose to press, this way it doesn’t take 7 minutes just to play 1 opponent. 3-If a player has made the round and the opponent doesn’t even have a chance to even get to the green based on the discs throwing power than the game should just end (there is no need to watch the inevitable obvious play out…it’s a waste of time). Lastly is 4-When playing a round you choose where to throw but unfortunately when you let go the flight pattern completely changes (glitches out) which is extremely frustrating and it messes up many shots. For some reason this happens the most on the “draw match.” This game is great for short term entertainment, but for term, it’s terrible. If the makers of this game want more game play and more money as a business they would take this review very seriously! ### 1/5 — Not a very accurate game that cheats *2021-11-25, version 1.21.20* This is another one of those con games that take your money. Don’t pay into this game unless you want to lose money $$. The shots don’t go where they show. But if you pay more money into the game, then all of a sudden your shots are more accurate and go further. But that only last for a few games and then the accuracy goes to pot again until you pay more money. After a couple of games the accuracy of the same shot with same direction and same strength goes in the ditch or trap or rough. So what it means is that the software controls your shots how it wants to. The game has to make you lose so that you get mad and pay in more money. This is another con game that should be taken off Apple store for ripping off the customer. ### 1/5 — *** MUST READ / FAKE REVIEWS *** *2021-03-10, version 1.19.10* The game developers are writing fake reviews to help themselves. This one was posted just days ago.. -“Love hate relationship: It’s a game. It’s not perfect but the developers seem eager and attentive to the community. I respect that above all. Thanks for hours of mindless fun.”.. This is a flat out lie. Absolutely no one that plays this game would say this about the most recent update, and it sounds exactly like what a developer would say about their own game that is tanking. They actually send you the exact same cut and paste response with every message you send them when they feel like responding. They DO NOT care about the community nor take the time to write an honest response. This game has become a joke and that are trying to make you pay to play their mediocre game. Money is all that they are concerned with, not your experience. I played this game for quite a while before the new update and would have given it at least 4 stars. I’m not going to get into why the gameplay is terrible now, but gameplay set aside, I’d give this game 0 stars if that were possible with my experience with their customer service. They should be embarrassed. ### 1/5 — Favorite game until 2021 update *2021-02-25, version 1.71.1* The new changes have really taken away so much of what made the game fun and exciting. Now seems boring and I always play the same competitors over and over again. I also seem to have been demoted since all levels were open to me and now I have to redo 8 and don’t have access to 9 or above. Please fix. Update: the recent update continues to be lame. To advance you are trapped playing three holes on the highest level you have achieved. You see “bots” all the time - same shots played against you over and over. The update reduced all earn value from the past and the rewards are so low now it will be years before I earn disc upgrades etc. All the rules and instructions provided do not correlate to the current game. I hopped that this update was a tiered approach but there has been zero communication from developers. Anyone who invested money in this game got taken to the cleaners with the update as there stuff is now valueless. Really appears to be a cash grab by developer and is borderline theft. ### 1/5 — This game used to be amazing, but after the latest update it is terrible. *2021-02-16, version 1.71.1* I used to play this game religiously at least an hour a day. You would play bots that had fake Facebook profiles often, however I still enjoyed playing. Every other week you could compete in a tournament which was a ton of fun. Had a ton of courses and was really challenging . It went through a recent update that took all that away. Not it is just a dull game and you play the same two holes over and over again. They don’t have tournaments anymore and they also made the holes a lot easier so it is not even fun to play anymore. I haven’t played the game I’m over a week and probably won’t play anymore unless they make big changes again. I was really disappointed because I really liked the game play in the old version. Hopefully I will find another disc golf game to play similar to the old version. ### 1/5 — You RUINED THIS GAME! *2021-02-13, version 1.71.1* You had a perfect game but your latest update ruined everything. Changed the mechanics COMPLETELY. Changed the coins earned COMPLETELY. Changed the attributes of the discs I have collected for a year COMPLETELY. Changed the attributes of the launchers I have collected and spent hundreds of dollars on this year COMPLETELY. I spent $100 in January to get 100 launchers with 5 spin. You took that value completely away. They now have a zero spin. The discs I have built up over the year you just scrapped and started over completely. They have completely different attributes. Almost impossible to upgrade any discs now with your new system. I have tried for two weeks to adjust. But the changed are HORRIBLE. I wish I could get all my money back. I will never play this game again. You have ruined it and cheated me out of a years hard work and hundreds of dollars. Discs you worked hard to get are no longer as good as they used to be. Whatever. I got over it and then got used to it. Now the game is glitching out. I was playing a game, and I made my eagle chip in first. My opponent then did the same thing. The game called him the winner. It’s supposed to go to a tiebreaker. But it just gave him the win even though we both got an eagle. Then, 3 games later, my ability to change from left to right disc, or to adjust my launcher or even my disc’s fade and spin. I was locked into the default left handed disc. The entire hole. So I decided I would contact the developers, but it seems the only way you can do that is if you have a FaceBook account. FaceBook is garbage. This game is also now garbage. So I guess I sorta get it. ### 1/5 — Game is now broken *2021-02-06, version 1.71.1* Before the major update that was just released this game was awesome. It’s now broken and unplayable. There have been several games where I’m unable to change the right or left direction and the curl/fade. The tours have no coin or trophy value so you have no idea what you’re playing for. There’s a new proficiency rating which makes absolutely no sense. Nothing is labeled well especially the new bag you create. Right or left are your only choices and it’s not intuitive to compare discs. In my last game I lost even though we both had an eagle. My shot went in by hitting the pole, the opponents went in the basket. Same score but because mine hit the pole I lost? 95% of the time you play against bots. You see the same 3-4 players and their stats change drastically even though it’s the same player. Before it was a 4 start game, after the massive update it’s now trash. ### 1/5 — Update *2021-02-03, version 1.71.1* I do not like the new version at all. I like the old version way better. What’s the point of having a bunch of coins if you can’t even use them when you play a course for 10 coins now and you no idea how much your playing against an opponent anymore to. Plus the left and right discs stuff is not warranted by me at all!! Now im forced to use and upgrade half the discs I don’t want to use or have invested in hardly at all. The previous version is much more user friendly and just plain much more fun to play. I play this game multiple times daily and now im kinda turned off from the new update and might not play much anymore if at all and just delete the app. Which would be to bad cause it was by far my favorite game I have played. Pretty disappointed!!!! ### 1/5 — No help with issues *2020-11-14, version 1.12.1* On 3 occasions in 3 days, I was cheated out of a victory by either the game glitching or by the person I was playing causing a glitch. The most recent happened last night I took multiple screenshots of the incident which showed the other player timing out then resetting at 5 seconds for the other player. I was never allowed to play because of this and after watching for 20 min all of a sudden the game finished and said I forfeited the game and gave the other player the win and coins. I sent all the information to the in game help desk. Never got a response to my complaint so my warning to those thinking about playing this game don’t expect any help if you get cheated this is why I gave 1 star on my review. This is a stupid game and the people running it don’t care about the issues in their game they just want your money. I would rather play disc golf valley and you should too. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Solid and engaging for “bite-sized” disc golf play *2021-11-24, version 1.21.20* The thing about some other apps is that once you start a round it’s a big commitment to finish. This is very playable in between things. The game setup is engaging and keeps you wanting to come back for rewards, chests, etc…. It’s a little bit of a money grab in some ways for pay-for-advantage items, but I don’t hate even that part of it. Overall this is a solid app to have, and fun to play without the time it takes to do a whole round on something like DGV. ### 5/5 — Great Game App runs smoothly! (I am not receiving any compensation of any sort to write this review) I play this game religiously one my work phone and my personal phone I have been playing the game since it was released, my only issue with this game is since it was released they have made an update which has made it much easier to get legendary discs unlocked prior to that update it was near impossible with that being said I do believe that there should be a tournament option as there was when the game was released and it would be wonderful if we could rematch the same player!! Please see if that’s possible GR!! thank you... ENJOY The game! ### 5/5 — New update *2021-02-02, version 1.71.1* Hey huge fan of this game but not sure what I think of the new update. The new proficiency system could be cool but I really don’t like the fact that one disc is specifically left and one specifically right. I have been playing for months where you could use any disc either way and really don’t like that now the disc I chose to power up because I like using it can only be used for one direction now. It will bring something different to the game I’ll give it that but I don’t like that the option to choose was taken from us. Slightly disgruntled but will still definitely play. Edit: also the money doesn’t appear to be working only the trophies did they stop using money? ### 5/5 — Quite Fun - One Recommendation *2020-09-17, version 1.12.1* Disc Golf Rivals is a unique take on an excellent sport. It is quite polished and in my limited time playing, I have greatly enjoyed my experience. Perhaps some users will become ambitious enough to try the sport out physically! 😜 However, I do have a recommendation. Disc Golf Rivals is essentially the disc golf version of Golf Clash. It shares many of the same characteristics. The one I would like to see the most is the introduction of some sort of “clan” feature. Playing with the same clan in Golf Clash has improved the experience for me and allowed for rival clans to compete with one another for points and positioning. I believe this feature would take Disc Golf Rivals to the next level! Regardless, the game is still quite fun and I look forward to future updates. Great job to everyone involved with creating it! ### 5/5 — Good game and two suggestions *2020-06-06, version 1.8.1* This game is a lot of fun for someone up to this point who wasn’t into any kind of golf at all. I like how the game allows you to obtain different discs and launchers. It’s nice that a lot of others are playing so you get matched pretty quick. There are two things that I’d love to see. 1. Either there be no time limit for a shot or more time to make a shot. I’ve finally been able to get several discs and launchers with that said there have been a few matches where I found myself trying to figure out what angle or type of throw/disc I wanted and before I knew it the clock was ticking past 10 seconds. This causes me to rush my shot so I don’t give up my turn. I get it that nobody has all day to wait for someone else, however I don’t think it’s fair to make the players rush. 2. It would be nice if I could change launchers/discs if I have more then one for any shot during a match. I’ve noticed that you only get to change discs when you tee off after that you can’t change the disc your using. I’ve watched a little real world disc golf and just like real golf most of the players have at least two discs to use for any given shot. I hope these changes/improvements could be added to the game to increase the fun to those who play this game. ### 5/5 — Not Too Bad *2020-05-09, version 1.7.1* Fun game so far did have a problem trying to get back to the home screen in game, just would not come up. But then when I started a game my menu screen was on the field. And the buttons were active. Had to completely log out and jump back in the game. Luckily I still won. 5-9-20 Thank you to support for taking fast care of the issue before, I have not experienced the glitch since the. Very quickly addressed...awesome. I’m loving this game so far, I love disk golf and I live in Wyoming so sometimes it’s hard to play with the weather. Very fun game indeed. Their are two issues though that I have noticed. 1: I did spend on two small store packages. Said I would get a play chest some gems and disks. When I bought it gave me a gold chest instead, so I bought another deal after that, but this time it gave me a play chest. Little confused. 2: I’ve notice that when your countdown begins for your shot and you run it all the way down, it ends your turn on the 2 sec. I’ve seen it mess people up because of those couple extra seconds that you don’t receive. Other then that this game is fun, relaxing and just what the doctor ordered for this crazy 2020. Have fun everyone hope to see you out their. ### 5/5 — Rein Tech has done it again! *2020-04-30, version 1.6.1* Right when I thought the end was near. I thought the constant desire to check my phone every couple of hours, for bonus chest time to upgrade my newly acquired toys was over in Golf Rivals, but Rein has saved me from the horrible feeling of having to find that one good go-to game again that everyone has in their phone. Right next to the 20 other games that you swear you will get around to try, but never even give a second glance since you downloaded. Disc Golf Rivals substitutes the golf clubs and balls, for a stack of frisbees, with new styles of play that you must master to stay on top of your game, and to stay ahead of the competition. I like that the game feels much like the very popular Golf Rivals, but with different strategies that come with their own set of frustrations that keep you playing to perfection. I can’t wait to unlock every possible Golf Disc, so I can wait to see what crazy shots/throws can be made. I am also very pleased that my #1fan has made it to these courses to cheer me on every time I get a “Perfect Shot!” Finally, keeping in mind the physical attributes of this wonderful new game, I can’t resist from ending me review with this slightly modified old school saying...Let the good times fly!!! ### 4/5 — Fun games but match making has been spotty recently *2022-05-08, version 1.22.41* It’s a fun game as a whole. When I first downloaded a few weeks ago it was quick to get a match. In the past week or two it seems like it matches then restarts constantly. It’s annoying. Sometimes it takes like 30 seconds to a minute to find a match As far as the actual gameplay, it’s pretty fun! It has its challenges but is easy to pick up. The under basket pole finishes are not a real rule in disc golf but it’s all good…it doesn’t take away from the game but actually adds a bit of strategy. If they can get this matchmaking thing worked out I would give it the 5th star but until then, it’ll be my #2 game behind Clash Royale ### 4/5 — Newest update grew on me *2021-02-23, version 1.71.1* I hated the new update at first. But after playing for a few days it’s grown on me. At first I hated the left and right handed discs. But in reality it doesn’t make much difference, even though it doesn’t make sense. I especially like that you don’t have to give up gold coins to play matches. I found that before I world play less because I didn’t want to risk gold coins. The new system without having to spend coins to play actually makes me play a lot more. So I’m enjoying playing this more often than before. I’ve lost so many games because it’s very easy to hit an eagle. You can tell it’s the computer as well. Any time I lose I go on a losing streak. Preventing me to level up as high as I want. It entices you to buy better equipment or coins to better your chances of position. Ultimately, it’s very fun to play. I’d wish it was more realistic. Also it needs to be tweaked a bit because it kicks me off in the middle of my shot. I get so upset at this game. You only get mad when you truly like something and I truly like this game.
