## What is DiscipleDeck?

DiscipleDeck is a Bible study companion. Not a library you browse — someone to study with.

STUDY WITH SOMEONE
Ask about any passage in your own words. Answers are drawn from Matthew Henry's commentary on every chapter of the Bible and more than 600 classic sermons, and they say which source they came from. When there's nothing in the library on your question, it says so rather than guessing.

TYPE A REFERENCE, READ IT
John 3:16, Rom 8:28-30, Ps 23. Straight back, no searching. Or describe what you half-remember — "the verse about the mustard seed" — and find it that way.

BRING YOUR OWN MATERIAL
Photograph a sermon note and it becomes text you can keep and study from. The photo is read on your own phone and never uploaded. Every scripture reference in it becomes somewhere to go.

PREPARING TO TEACH
Work through a passage one question at a time: what it's about, your big idea, the structure, where it lands. It won't write the sermon for you — it helps you find what you see in the text.

READ THE BIBLE
The full text offline, with commentary on every chapter, cross-references and topics.

DAILY READINGS
A devotional each day, and reading plans to follow. New to the Bible? Start with an orientation to what it is and where to begin, before anyone hands you a passage.

READ TOGETHER
Two to five people who already know each other, reading the same thing. You see whether the others showed up — never what they wrote. No feeds, no likes, no follower counts.

SPEAK AND LISTEN
Talk instead of typing. Dictation runs on your own device — your audio is never uploaded, only the words you decide to keep. Listen instead of reading, with lock-screen controls for the commute.

YOUR NOTES
Write as you read. Every scripture reference in a note links straight back to the text, a note can be read aloud to you, and you can share one with someone if you want to.

Free to use.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 2.4.0 (146) — 2026-09-26

• Start a fresh chat with the pencil, and reopen past ones from the menu. Each is titled from the question you asked first.
• References are tappable. A Bible reference or a library title inside a reply now opens the passage, sermon, book or plan it names.
• Cards work. Sermon, devotional, book, audio, video, plan, journey and note cards all open the right screen — several of them used to do nothing at all.
• Your reply to today's devotional is kept. It saves to your Notes, with Undo if you would rather it did not.
• Ask for a reminder in your own words — "remind me at 7pm to read" — and cancel it from the card.
• See what you have left. "12 of 15 replies left today" sits above the box, and tapping it explains how inviting someone adds five a day.
• Profile shows the milestone you last reached, with its date, and the next one with how far along you are.
• Nothing fails silently any more. A message that does not send tells you why, and offers to retry.
• Season challenges appear on the home screen.

### 2.3.10 — 2026-09-01

Your plan now sets the pace.

• Start a devotional plan on any day you choose — not only day one.
• Daily reminders and the morning email now follow the plan you're on, so the
reading you're told about is the reading you'll find when you open the app.
• The notification bell is back. Catch up on anything you missed and tap
  straight through to it.
• Email is now yours to control. Settings → Notifications lets you turn the
daily devotional email on or off, along with the rest.
• Your reading activity and points have moved to your Profile, and settings are
grouped so the things you change often are easy to find.
• Uses noticeably less storage and mobile data. Commentary now downloads only
when you open it, and the full library is still available any time from
  Library → Storage.
• Fixed devotional plans disappearing, and being unable to start a plan from a
  chosen day.
• When something can't load, the app now says so — instead of showing an empty
  shelf.

Thank you for growing with DiscipleDeck.

### 2.3.6 — 2026-08-11

Voice notes, a faster offline experience, and a much more reliable app.

DICTATE YOUR NOTES
Tap the microphone and speak — your words become a note as you talk. Dictation runs on your device, so your voice is not sent to DiscipleDeck. For higher accuracy, or dictation that works with no connection at all, turn on offline dictation in Settings and download the optional voice model.

HIGHLIGHT TO SAVE
Select any passage in a devotional, sermon, commentary, or book and save it straight to a note, with the reference kept for you.

BUILT TO WORK OFFLINE
Devotionals, Scripture, and saved content now load instantly from your device instead of waiting on the network. A weak or stalling connection no longer leaves you on a blank screen.

MORE RELIABLE SESSIONS
Fixed the reload loop that could restart the app on launch, and the sign-outs that lost your place. Your home screen and Bible no longer come back empty after a poor connection.

PLANS AND NOTES
Devotional plans now advance when you actually read the day, not only when you rate or share it. Sermon notes can be grouped by preacher, and note edits sync reliably instead of being overwritten.

ALSO IN THIS UPDATE
• Books and devotionals read aloud properly on iOS.
• Settings reorganised so destructive actions are grouped and Log out is always last.
• Sharing a sermon now sends a real link, not just the title.
• Fewer, better-timed reminders.

DiscipleDeck now requires iOS 15.6 or later.

### 2.2.3 (123) — 2026-08-03

Our biggest update yet — new content, smarter tools, and a faster, smoother app.

WHAT'S NEW
• Sermons — a growing library of sermon notes, including 300+ classic sermons from George H. Morrison.
• Smarter Notes & Journals — your notes now automatically detect and link the Bible verses you mention, and sync to your account so you never lose a reflection (even on a new device).
• Improved Books — listen to any book with built-in text-to-speech that reads paragraph by paragraph, so you can follow along or go hands-free.
• Devotional Plans — browse guided reading plans and start any plan from day one, or jump in at any day. Your home devotional follows your plan and picks up where you left off.
• Better reminders — a gentle nudge at the right time of your day, with no more repeat notifications. Tap one to open that day's devotional instantly.

FASTER & MORE RELIABLE
• Plans and devotionals now load quickly and reliably.
• Fewer sign-outs and smoother, more stable sessions.
• Lower memory use, performance improvements, and many bug fixes.
