These and other features like metadata removal, layer flattening, and anonymous filenames let you share images on your terms, not theirs. Face Masking Features • Optional: Automatic masking / Manual masking / No masking • Built in Mask Editor: • Add and remove masks • Precision edits to the mask size and position • Change each mask's shape and style Automatic face detection is done privately on-device using two different face detection algorithms with combined results for better coverage. Automatic privacy features • Removes tracking metadata - including date, time, location information (GPS coordinates), camera settings, equipment, operating system, editing software and more. • Simplifies the filename to a two digit number like "01.jpg" (to help prevent source tracing) • Flattens PSD files • Removes hidden TIFF files • Removes video from Live Photo These all help prevent unwarranted data mining and reduce the data available for digital fingerprinting. Same for difficult lighting conditions I think an option for an even more sensitive face detection program would be nice even if it increases “false positives” and puts censors where no one is there. I’d rather have an overzealous program that catches everyone (and more!) than one that’s a bit conservative and doesn’t obscure everyone properly Thank you for all the hard work you do! You’re working on something that’s way more valuable than you think **Developer response:** Thank you for your review and your kind words. Discretion currently combines two different face detection algorithms, both of which are provided by Apple. Unfortunately, the sensitivity of these algorithms is currently not adjustable. However, if I find a way to improve or enhance this process, I’ll try to integrate it into Discretion. The Mask Editor (activated by tapping the “Edit” button) was included within Discretion to provide a manual override to overcome any limitations imposed by automatic masking.
