However separating free gems from paid gems is rather shallow. Especially when the paid versions always offer more/better pulls or odds. I understand they need to make money, and the amount of free gems you can obtain is still fairly generous, but you will hit a point where the free gems are drip fed to you. The game play itself is a blast, and I always have something to do even when I run out of energy. (Item world). The sprites are well done (Kudos to their hard working artists) and aside from a few sentence structure issues for the English version, the stories have been a blast to read/progress through. You will enjoy the game most (if you are like me and have very little disposable income) by resisting the FOMO when new characters come out. And by not spending your freebies after you pull the character you really wanted or was added. (Don’t go for N.E. Extras) ### 3/5 — Was having an amazing until. *2022-10-02, version 3.2.6* For some reason after I connected my phone to my friends wi-if and opened the app, it made redownload the game even though I didn’t delete it, and after it was done I lost everything! I lost my Future Plenair, 2 Future Usagi’s one half nether enhanced, and most of my other characters I had backlogged. I tried re-acquiring my data and it still did the same thing. Please, is there anyway to get my old account back? ### 4/5 — Great(but one issue) *2022-09-29, version 3.2.6* For IOS players, my only issue with the game is the accessibility in terms of the UI/menu options when rummaging through my party/equipment, but! Overall, I love the nostalgia and the crossovers. Doesn’t really require micro transactions either! Hoping to pull more 4* units with all the gems I’ve accumulated! ### 3/5 — Drop rate is sooooo bad *2022-08-26, version 3.2.3* Bad thing: Drop rate is so horrible, I can’t get a character unless I get a paid gem, there is no way to summon the character you want unless you pay for it. Also to level your character you need a lot of time. I was here at launch got burnt and came back about a month ago. I love this game so much when I got my new phone I even transferred my account to continue vs not doing that for many other games. In the short run this game can be really fun. My biggest issue w this game isn’t your normal gripes bc the game showers you w rewards and events. My problem is reincarnation.. I’m literally out here reincarnating for example level 2500 > now your level increase to 2600 ( in increments of 100 ). Despite having daily mat stage limits I’ve never run out of materials but the amount of xp needed will cause this to take time . Not to mention to get to 9999 YOU swill have to repeat this process 99 times .. so in a normal gacha you can choose to grind your unhealthy mind off to max a unit in a day or two if you really want to. But no matter what that’s not happening here. I have so many cool characters I wanna use but it’ll take months to get them even close to ready for endgame content , by then they have been power crept by a new version of their own self. I love Desco for ex but before I can build desco now there is swimsuit desco who is even better. Not to mention after you’ve maxed a unit end game content is buff team debuff enemy one shot. All the cool strategies in their kits is virtually useless when cleave is all that matters. Very sad to uninstall but I’ll just play the actual games that are more balanced and fun in general (TT__TT) ### 4/5 — Thoughtful Disgaea Game, Gacha Nightmare *2022-03-24, version 2.16.5* Disgaea RPG does try to build consistent storylines in the “spirit” of the series. While not exactly canonical, it does find reasonable means to bring all of your favorites to the game…. even if it’s hard as heck to get them on your team. The “gacha engine” behind Disgaea RPG is atrocious. They incentivize burning through thousands of gems for 5 or 10 pulls that guarantees a 4 Star Character - not specifically to the 4-5 characters in collabs or otherwise. While you can grind for free gems through storylines and tasks, it’s never “enough” to get what you’re looking for without some good ol’fashioned RNG Luck. My suggestion: enjoy the game and try not to get roped into landing those exclusive gacha pulls. It’s genuinely not worth it (financially or emotionally/mentally). The game itself, outside of absurd RNG factors, is pretty fun. They have recently thrown in more “time sink” components, but I’m assuming it’s to occupy the folks (like me) who have played since it’s release. ### 1/5 — Bad system not explained *2022-03-21, version 2.16.4* Gems are not posted as free.. when u think there paid. And charter cyrstal are only for tiering up..and not to get the unit…like some other games ### 3/5 — Play at your own risk *2022-03-20, version 2.16.4* Pros: + More scenarios with your favorite characters from Disgaea in many situations not addressed in the main franchise + The crossover events are fun + Once you have a powerful unit, you don’t have to worry too much about being power crept as long as you focus on that one unit. Con: -Gatcha rate is the worst I have ever seen. A focus character is only 1.00 maximum and it doesn’t increase with each full summon, you have to spend over 200 dollars if you want to be able to get a unit for free -Won’t update the summoning pool even as new units start coming in. Axel should be in the main pool now instead of being stuck on an item banner below a .20 chance. - The “fallen” banner is locked to paid gems only now which is a huge middle finger - Game frequently updates with no real fixes. Game crashed my phone forcing me to restart. Issues don’t get addressed - The packs are a complete rip off. They are so stingy with what they give you that it’s insulting how near 100 dollar packs are the ones where they decide to give you everything that should be given in a smaller pack. ### 2/5 — Constantly Closing App *2022-03-07, version 2.16.4* I love this game but it constantly crashes and closes the app at first I thought it was an idle issue but then it started happening while I’m in the middle of battles or draws and I really want to give this 5 stars but when I can’t even play for more that 2-3 minutes I just can’t even enjoy the game let alone recommend it. Nothing like dropping 40 k on a new banner just to get all launch characters. Their banner system is horrendous and a travesty. Even the special ones putting out launch and first year characters. And not by my doing. I tried reaching out to them and I get the 404 error. I’m seriously unhappy I lost ALL MY HARD WORK. So that’s also false advertising! ### 1/5 — .. *2022-08-16, version 3.2.3* I can’t select the 4 characters in the start of screen what is going on is this some sort of glitch? ### 1/5 — Account Issues *2022-07-08, version 2.16.10* I can’t log into my acc every time I use Facebook it says “App Not Setup: This app is still in development mode, and you don’t have access to it.” ### 1/5 — drop rates are horrendous w/ too many banners at once with overpriced gems *2022-07-04, version 2.16.10* Drop rates are absolutely horrible for this game for featured characters. Guaranteed pity for most banners is at 30 10x pulls which is about $700 usd. Yeah it says increased rate of the featured character is at 0.5% vs 0.27% for the non featured characters, but its almost if that increased drop rate doesnt matter when theres 22-30 non featured characters to drop instead, meaning you have 6-8% chance on getting a non featured character vs the 0.5% of the featured character. Also, Boltrend constantly changes the guaranteed pity for featured characters on banners where one will be every 5 10x roll, or every 20 10x roll, to every 30 10x rolls. Just stick with one like seriously. Another issue is that you will have 2-5 mini banners alongside major banners with of course their own pity rates. So if you want to pull on multiple banners, gotta pay up on some overpriced gems with the odds nearly completely against you. Of course, if you are free to play, then the only worry is going against the drop rates, but I personally would not recommend this game either way. You're better off with another gacha like Genshin Impact as its believe or not, cheaper than this with better drop rates while we're at it too. ### 1/5 — I cant even play for 2 minutes *2022-05-11, version 2.16.7* I really dislike it when it just crashes and I'm unable to do anything, even if I uninstall and reinstall it the same thing happens… ### 1/5 — Lost game progress! *2022-05-06, version 2.16.7* Just lost all my game progress after downloading the latest version! Been playing and enjoying this game for over one year. If I cannot get my data back, I’ll never play this game again. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Disgaea fun, in a gacha game *2022-11-03, version 3.2.8* Disgaea RPG (I'm gonna shorten it to DRPG for the rest of this review) is one of only 2 games on my phone that I actively play every single day. That's saying a lot, since I love trying new games and I have literally tried hundreds if not thousands of mobile games over the years. DRPG has all the fun and humor of the mainline Disgaea series, with all your favorite Disgaea characters, but instead of a strategy RPG it's a turn-based gacha game. Several other reviews say DRPG has awful drop rates compared to other gacha games. This, in my experience, is just completely false. I've tried a ton of gacha games, and DRPG's rates are among the best. That's not saying much, because all gacha games have pretty low rates, but at least it's one of the best available. A normal banner usually has a 3% rate to drop a 5* character, which is not terrible for a gacha game since many have 3% rates and some games even have a measly 1% rate. Sometimes DRPG has boosted banners where you have a 6% drop rate. However, what sets DRPG apart is how much currency you can earn in the game. In a lot of gacha games, you can do a few pulls then you're out of gems and it's hard to earn more so you're just kind of stuck with nothing to do unless you pay for more. DRPG lets you earn a ton of "quartz" (DRPG's premium currency) just by playing through the story and participating in events. If you save your quartz and don't spend it on every single banner, you'll have plenty to make sure you get the units you want. Event banners have a "pity" system where you can choose a unit you want after twenty 10x pulls, and sometimes there's additional levels where you can get more copies at 30 pulls, or boosted rates every 5-10 where you might get lucky. Overall DRPG is easily the most generous gacha game I've ever played, and I've tried them all. The gameplay is fun if you like to grind. It's pretty repetitive, and you can actually just let it auto-battle if you want. For me, the fun comes from building up teams, getting my units up to level 9999 and getting good gear for them, picking units that work well together. It's more about the strategy of designing a team than the actual combat. I also like seeing some of my favorite Disgaea characters in New stories with cool new outfits like Tyrant Overlord Etna or Santa Seraphina. If you like gacha games, this is the best one available, hands down. And if you like Disgaea, I'd recommend giving it a try. It's not perfect, at the end of the day it's a gacha game, which are all basically just built around loot boxes. But as long as you're able to control yourself and not spend too much money on a mobile game, this is a fun one. ### 5/5 — Overall *2022-09-05, version 3.2.3* RN Jesus is always with me so I was able to get all the characters I wanted, gatcha system is alright but the game offers so much in game currency your pretty much guaranteed to get the character you want just grind enough. Team building is very fun in this game and character designs are super cool. 10/10 would recommend for a pocket game ### 5/5 — Generous Currency *2022-08-13, version 3.2.3* Anyone complaining about summon rates and the summon currency is simply mad they can’t pull every single new character from every banner. It’s very easy to save enough currency (even for pity amounts) when you know a character you want is coming up. To date, I have not missed a unit that I want. Especially the interactions between characters who usually would never meet. It’s very exhilarating. The extra side stories from the events are pretty neat. On this front, 5/5. As a long time gacha player I gotta say I can’t wait until they implement the pity’s on banners. JP has it but global is waiting on it. After that I’m pretty happy with the game. I gotta say the stars on normal/hard mode are rather tedious to get and the massive gap between exp gates is jarring. 2700 and the next one is 3700. It’s quite a gap. That’s about all the things I have issues with. The gameplay is fun the story is good and the devs are generous with the daily. Too be honest I don’t like very many Gacha games because I got bored after a few hours but this one is different. Not only did they take a game series that I love but this added a different type of gameplay. Because you level up quickly it feels rewarding to play. And for people that are fans of the Disgaea series YOU GET TO BASICALLY PICK YOUR FAVORITE CHARACTER. I really liked this because If there’s a character you really liked from the original series you can use them here at the very start. Honestly for new players could be a little confusing at the summons showcase, cause actually it shows a lot of paid banners, but IT’S TOTALLY UNNECESSARY TO PAY IN THIS GAME, you can get every chracter without paying cause they make two banners one free with the free diamonds that you won in the game, and the same banner with just a little higher rate for 4 stars characters, i’ve been playing this past 10 days that the global server comes. And is definitely amazing, you got tons of gameplays, stages, the artwork is freaking cool, the history is hilarious an amazing, the history gives you a lot of diamonds to make summons, and the characters rate in the free pools are not to low, so... Gacha games run as a service, meaning the revenue they get is only achieved by actively adding new content into the game. The devs have been extremely generous AND transparent with its community in what it’s trying to achieve. They love this franchise as much as it’s fans, and they want to release the best product they can. It’s extremely important to remember however, that this is a BUSINESS! They need revenue to be able to keep the game alive. As for the gameplay, it is extremely fun. Simple, easy to hop in and out of, and no rush to min-max since there isn’t any pvp. With a satisfying layer of complexity thrown in via equipment, N.E.
