### 1/5 — Horrible

*2026-07-19, version 1.2.4*

Horrible app. Break constantly. Terrible Interface

### 1/5 — Not working with iOS 26

*2025-09-28, version 1.2.4*

### 1/5 — Sooo frustrating.

*2025-01-26, version 1.2.4*

My very expensive Disklavier (and baby grand Yamaha) do NOT work MOST OF THE TIME unless I get tech help (M-F only!)
I would NOT HAVR MADE THIS PURCHASE HAD I KNOWN!

### 1/5 — Reason to not buy a disklavier piano

*2021-09-16, version 1.2.3*

Please improve this terrible, difficult to use app.

### 1/5 — It does Not find my Disklavier

*2020-05-15, version 1.2.3*

While i want to connect it to my Disklavier? It can Not find my Disklavier name on this app, and there is No any good technician to support, come on Yamaha the world is Not only the place to make money.

### 1/5 — Not functional

*2019-10-15, version 1.2.3*

Does not connect to the instrument without a firmware reset

### 1/5 — Abysmal

*2019-02-13, version 1.2.3*

Never connects. You would think a company like Yamaha with those who invested 40k in a piano could migrate from the crappy palm to an iPad with ease...not even close...ugh!

### 1/5 — Really awful and uninspiring

*2018-12-17, version 1.2.3*

Counterintuitive GUI. More like a puzzle than an intelligent piece of software. Sure once you figure it out it will play fine. But if you only use once in a while, forget it. Start guessing and learning all over. So clumsy and ambiguous you wonder how the support and focus for controlling a musical instrument of such excellence could receive such mediocrity. A colossal embarrassment. I hope one day someone at Yamaha wakes up, trashes this software and redesigns it from the ground up. For several generations the software did not even have a name on the App Store that had Yamaha or Disklavier in the name. “US controller” or something like that. Really Says it all.

### 1/5 — Improvements needed...

*2017-08-29, version 1.2.2*

If you're thinking about buying a current generation Yamaha hybrid piano (Enspire or E3), you'd be smart to research how Yamaha has supported previous generations of their products. To be brief, Yamaha COULD easily upgrade this software to be more user friendly, but usually they deliver the bare minimum (and often late-to-market) update to prevent crashes under a new iOS. With the death of most old PRC-100 controllers, this software is one of your ONLY WAYS to interface with the Mark IV hardware.

One simple idea: When browsing for songs, AND playing songs (MIDI or FIL), there's plenty of screen real-estate to provide more than just ONE LINE of the song title. "Johann Sebastian Bach - BWV #..." is all I see for dozens of titles. And, there are plenty of other little tweaks like this that would make everyone's life easier.

In addition, wouldn't it be nice if Mark IV customers could UPGRADE their hardware to Enspire? I've chatted with Yamaha Engineers about this, and there's not a big technical impediment... just a marketing/sales/field issue. Support your customers, Yamaha!

### 1/5 — No longer functions

*2016-11-08, version 1.2.1*

How can someone pay $$$$ for the coolest analog piano in the world and then have no updates on controlling app for so long? App no longer functions. iP7+

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — It is fully functional again

*2024-10-14, version 1.2.4*

Great news, it works with my Disklavier Mark IV again!!!

### 5/5 — Great App Thank You

*2023-12-15, version 1.2.3*

This app works perfectly for my Mark 4 Pro, & Yamahas tech support is always there for me, even 20 years later. The app is done in a beautiful rendering way. I don’t understand the bad reviews here. Yamaha has continued to support my product, and even sends me free fixes such as a new floppy or cd players for free! I’m very impressed & happy with Yamaha & this app.

### 5/5 — Update!

*2017-07-11, version 1.2.2*

Yeah thank you for this update! It works great!

### 5/5 — Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for updating

*2017-06-08, version 1.2.2*

ThAnk you for the update!

### 5/5 — Great and Functional

*2016-12-12, version 1.2.1*

The UI could use an update but I haven't had any problems using this with our families piano. Don't really know why people are having problems. It's been great for me. The app does need a little rewrite to be up to par with the new iOS but other than that keep up the good work.

### 5/5 — Great Controller For the Disklavier

*2016-08-21, version 1.2.1*

Idk what's up with all the bad reviews, I love this controller it's so much faster then the one that comes with it.

### 5/5 — Very convenient!

*2012-01-14, version 1.1.2*

Great features with lots of potential for future updates. Hopefully it will replace the remote completely soon!

### 4/5 — Well done

*2012-04-04, version 1.1.2*

This app stays out as one that is well done and well tested before release.
You must upgrade your piano before using it. Fortunately Yamaha has a very nice upgrade kit (discs) available trough the local Yamaha dealer. One small inconvenience is the necessity of car5 cable connection between the piano and the router (LAN), however there are products out there to do it wirelessly or over the power outlets . I'm yet to try one of those.
While the use of this app is easy and straightforward I couldn't find user manual anywhere of how to use some more exotic functions such as playing files that are on a PC for example. That's why I took one star off my rating.

### 4/5 — Almost perfect.

*2012-02-17, version 1.1.2*

Works wonderfully. If Yamaha can add the "function" part that you find on the controller to rename and copy, etc., then this app will be amazingly complete.

### 2/5 — Limited functionality

*2025-07-23, version 1.2.4*

This app does not include all the features of the original remote, and the replacement remotes are not available for sale when they die/break/are lost. Very frustrating.
