But we aren’t and the app will not remember any of my start or end times on plans. ### 2/5 — Disneyland time estimates are way off *2024-06-26* We just completed three days at Disneyland Resort. I created a plan for each day, but in the end I found that the estimate of how busy the parks would be and the estimated times for getting through attractions was so unrealistic that I abandoned their plan and really just used the app as a checklist. I don’t know if it’s because of the summer holiday season, or because Independence Day is next week, but the crowds were much heavier than the app accounted for. We were begging the planned schedule before we completed the first attraction each day, and standby wait times far exceeded what the plan estimated, so the plan quickly became useless. Also, there are bugs in that the app would not accept lightning lane return times when I could enter them, and you cannot enter a lightning lane return time if the plan did not recommend getting one, which was another factor in having to abandon the plan. ### 4/5 — Great Data, Embarrassing UI *2024-04-01, version 1.9.10* I’m a big Lines fan and have used them for many Disney World and Disneyland trips. The data is amazing and the community is helpful. That said, please please please update the UI for the Disneyland app. It’s embarrassingly outdated and it’s even else when compared to the newly updated and refreshed WDW app. I know the DLR community isn’t as not as the WDW but refreshing the app is essential to growing usage because at this point new users wouldn’t give the app the time of day based on interface alone. ### 3/5 — Estimates way off *2024-03-13* I’ve used the lines app for the past 4 vacations when visiting the Disneyland Resort since 2017. In my past trips the estimated crowd calendar as well as ride wait times were eerily accurate. On my last trip in March 2022 the crowd calendar was off, I assumed it was a fluke. This past week, March 2024, I had planned our dates around low crowd calendar dates. However, actual crowd data showed our dates were actually an 8 & 9 not the 4 & 6 we planned on. Also, with very few exceptions, the ride wait times were much higher than listed in the app. I love planning touring plans, but don’t know that I will continue to do so with this app as it’s proven very inaccurate. ### 2/5 — Genie+ queues ruined the predictability *2023-11-20, version 1.9.10* With Disney over prioritizing Genie+ lines, the algorithm needs to be updated for the standby estimates. I compare the published times and the expected times and the published are typically more accurate. The app used to work fairly well. But more recently 2023 the estimated wait times are not even close for standby. The estimated downtimes are also not accurate. So I will not be renewing my subscription. ### 3/5 — App hasn’t been updated in 5 years *2023-07-17, version 1.9.10* It seems like the app works okay, but it doesn’t utilize the full display of my iPhone 14 Pro Max. I’ve installed the mobile version of the Touring Plans website as a workaround. Doing do enables me to see more content. It would be good to update the app to take full advantage of larger displays. ### 4/5 — Needs a new coat of paint but still works *2023-07-11* You may find the book version easier if you’re using the pre-made plans. Under the surface this app is amazing, but it badly needs a makeover to be more intuitive and to run on modern phones. The WDW version is awesome. ### 2/5 — Great data, awful UI makes me not want to use it *2023-03-03* Clearly the data is impressive— lines are almost always closer to what TP app says than the official Disneyland app. The features, like cloning suggested plans and modifying them to your heart’s content, then getting updates on wait times accordingly, are powerful. But the UI is terrible. Unhelpful errors (“Error 01!” What does that mean?) I got an hour ago persist at the top of the screen. Difficult to navigate, aesthetic looks about 10 years old. Seems like they really don’t care about user experience. Find myself jumping back to the official app because it’s just easier (and Disney’s apps are no panacea either.) Hope the devs improve the UI to match the top quality data. ### 4/5 — Listen, I’m not ungrateful but… *2022-12-04, version 1.9.10* I love this app. I love Lines. I love the Unofficial Guide team. I love Len and Jim Hill and all those guys…. PLEASE upgrade the Disneyland lines app to match the user experience of the WDW lines app. I’m sure you’re working on it, but the UI/UX difference is night and day between these two programs. Thanks in advance because I know you’ll get there and I’ll continue to be a loyal Lines user as long as the app is supported 💕 ### 3/5 — Dated *2022-05-10, version 1.9.10* App is functional, but looks like a holdover from an iPhone 3G and badly needs an update. A quick look at the WDW version of the same illustrates just how long this version has stagnated. ### 4/5 — Great functionality, needs a UI refresh *2022-03-26, version 1.9.10* Great functionality, needs a UI refresh and ability to enter in that I have a LL or Disney+ for the day. ### 2/5 — Skip it *2022-03-24, version 1.9.10* For any good intel I was able to get from this app, it also gave a lot of poor intel when it came to wait times. If I had paid more than the $1.99 1 week subscription I would have been more dissatisfied. Ultimately stick to the regular park app and don’t add another layer of work to your efforts to maximize your park experience. ### 4/5 — Helpful! *2022-01-07* We used this app during our recent trip to Disneyland. We had three days just at Disney (not CA Adventure). We used their Two Day Plan A touring plan and it was great! It saved us so much time from waiting in horrible lines. I read about the Touring Plans and app in their guidebook, which also had a lot of good tips. Overall I would recommend the app. The Touring Plan and app helped us a lot early in the morning. We adjusted their plan (mainly took our rides we weren’t interested in) and arrived to the park before 8am. Each day we had probably ridden 5 rides in the first hour! Having the plan really helped us focus our time. We optimized our plan after each ride, which allowed us to go where the lines were shortest. I also enjoyed the timing feature and tried to time all of the lines we were in! Their plan/app saved us from having to purchase the new Genie+/Lightning Lane service everyday, although I would recommend doing that for a day you don’t follow a plan (it is worth the $20/person). Overall though, the app works best when it’s not crowded in the park. By the time the large crowds and long lines arrived, the app seemed to lose some of its functionality. Maybe because it wasn’t updating quickly with real time data? I’m not sure. Once it got crowded, we switched to the Disneyland app and slowed our riding pace down. The design of the app itself is quite rudimentary and sometimes a little glitchy. But, for the price of an account, this app was so worth it. It truly saved us so much time in lines, as well as money, and for that we are grateful! It’s great for planning to hit lots of rides early in the morning. ### 2/5 — Needs an update *2021-12-13, version 1.9.10* Besides an update by Apple to create a Apple Watch icon, this app was last updated by the developer over six years ago. It’s old. It’s ugly. And it’s slow. Meanwhile, the same developer released a Line 2.0 update to the Disney World version of this app over a year ago and just updated that app again to add Lightning Lane functionality. I understand that the developer is based in FL but that’s no excuse for them to take CA users for granted. If the app isn’t updated soon, I will be letting my membership lapse when it expires in May and deleting this app from phone. ### 3/5 — Great data, terrible UI *2021-08-25, version 1.9.10* This app still looks like it’s from 2009, but the data is good and it’s at least a stable build. Just wish they’d update it to be more in line with their WDW app. ### 2/5 — Ancient *2021-08-10, version 1.9.10* This app is badly in need of a refresh. ### 4/5 — Super useful for planning, needs improvement for on the fly use *2020-02-27* Loved the concept of the Lines app. I had my 12yo create and optimize her own plans to identify priorities. Appreciated being able to set parameters like max pass and magic morning. Agree with the feedback that being able to create a joint plan for both parks (with a Hopper parameter) would be super useful. Using the app at Disneyland was clunkier than expected. It would be really useful to be able to drag steps up and down. App response time was slow so the move up move down was cumbersome if you wanted to moved something more than one place. In addition, it would be really great to be able to pin rides to a certain order regardless of FastPass return time. For example, it may be optimal to go on Space Mountain first but my kids had never ridden a roller coaster before so we didn’t want to start there. If we could have pinned Peter Pan or something then optimized it could have made it much easier to plan based on our particular needs, not just reducing wait time. All this said, would totally use again on our next visit. We used the book as well and it made our trip a million times better than it would have been otherwise. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Ruined my Genie Plus vacation. *2024-02-18, version 1.9.10* This app recommends VERY inefficient use of fastpasses and rides when there’s an early morning, making it impossible to use the best fastpasses. Instead of using their advice, get the very most popular fastpasses first. ### 1/5 — Feels outdated *2023-07-12, version 1.9.10* Not sure why the plan of Disneyland with small children would start at Rise of the Resistance which opens with a 40+ minute wait. Also felt outdated with rides that are closed for refurbishment listed on the plan. Has you crossing the park a few times which seems silly with small kids. Overall was not helpful in the least. ### 1/5 — Badly needs an update *2023-04-22, version 1.9.10* I adore the Unofficial Guide books and the Touring Plans site - I recommend them to every single person that comes to me for Disney trip planning advice, which is a lot of people. That being said, the DL Lines app is woefully out of date compared to its WDW counterpart. I truly don’t understand why this app doesn’t get the same exact updates as the WDW version. ### 1/5 — Needs an update! *2022-11-02, version 1.9.10* Disappointed to realize (after I paid for subscription) that there is no way to tell the app you have Genie+. That seems like a huge design flaw. Touring Plans, please update the Disneyland app like you’ve done for the Walt Disney World one. I paid for a subscription to their side and app before realizing the app isn’t updated. The WDW App is so much cleaner and easier to use. I’ll update my review when the app is fresh until then, no. ### 1/5 — Not helpful *2020-01-10* We took our kids to Disneyland for the first time this week. I haven’t been in years. My twins are 5. I attempted to use the app and create plans for the best of with kids day and other suggested similar plans. I had a hard time going back and forth on the app trying to locate the plans I created bcuz everytime I had to use my phone for something else it would kick me out. Took too much time to get back to where I needed which o didn’t have the patience for while trying to plan my day. Got to Disneyland City Hall to talk to them about plan for day and clarification on best way to use our Max Pass. Showed her the plan from this app and she told me it was way too much jumping around to do with kids and lay out a plan for me step by step with what rides to go on, when to plan next fast pass.... etc. and it was perfect. For me, this app was useless and I didn’t even use it. All I needed was the Disneyland app and I had everything I needed for both parks. Disappointed I paid for this not to get anything out of it. ### 1/5 — Not accurate at all. *2019-10-11, version 1.9.10* App says Frozen Live is today at California Adventure. It is not. Crowd estimates seem way off as well. Not helpful when planning at all at this point. ### 1/5 — Not Impressed *2019-08-18* I got this app because others in a Disneyland group suggested it. I paid the $8 for the year since I live local and have an AP. I found it to be incredibly inaccurate, non-intuitive, more hassle than help, and a complete waste of time and money. The line wait times were way off, I tested 3 times and they were all at least 15 minutes off. I would have been happy to share real time info (e.g. heard the announcement that one of the Soarin theaters went down, doubling the wait time), but couldn’t find a way to do that. I’m not going to work that hard to figure out a PAID app that is supposed to save me time. I ended up wasting park time trying to use it. Wish I could get a refund as I used it a total of 4 hours before ditching it. ### 1/5 — Not as helpful as hoped for *2018-10-12, version 1.9.10* The plans, optimizing, and wait times are kind of like the weather forecast; they are wrong most of the time but accurate often enough to not be completely ignored. I went to DisneyLand and created a plan in the app, for each day. The ability to see wait times and use the ‘optimize’ feature is a time saver. Also appreciated the ability to change the sequence myself according to our particular needs/wants and see how that affected wait times. I had a question about the app Memorial Day wkd; sent a question late Sunday evening and received a prompt response the very next morning on Memorial Day that resolved my issue. ### 5/5 — Say goodbye to Genie + *2023-09-05* Honestly! The app, in addition to the Touring Plan, will get you on more attractions than Genie +. My family has used TP (hehehe) in Disneyland from way back before the app when you had to print the plan. We are completely sold on its usefulness. Personally, I love the fact that it can update your plan based on real time input from you and other users in the parks on the day you are there. It’s imperative for you, the user, to keep track of your line times in order for others to really benefit from the app and plan. We love it and will always use it!
