## What is Dispatches?

Your photo desk fits in your pocket.

Dispatches turns your iPhone into the whole filing workstation that used to mean a laptop and a stack of apps. Import a shoot, cull and rate it, caption the take, and send it to where it needs to go — all from the field, before you leave the venue.

Built for the way working photographers actually deliver:

- Import straight from an SD card or a folder, and bring in only the rated or flagged frames so the throwaways never touch your phone
- Cull fast with star ratings, flags, and picks, then filter the grid by file type (RAW, JPEG, video) and by rating to reach your selects in seconds
- Keep every shoot together as one event: imported assets, picks, ratings, metadata, and delivery history in one place
- Caption a whole take with a single voice memo — Dispatches writes clean IPTC captions across the batch instead of making you type field by field
- Save your byline, credit, copyright, location, and contact as reusable IPTC presets and apply a full set in a tap
- Check captions before they file: Caption Coach flags missing captions, placeholders, datelines, keywords, and length issues
- Send straight from the app to FTP, email, your editor, Files, or social — and save the send so the next job files the same way in one tap
- Track delivery progress, history, and retries, so you know what filed and what needs another go

One app instead of five. No bouncing between the camera roll, a notes app, an IPTC editor, and an FTP client — and no waiting until you're back at a laptop.

Yours stays yours:

Dispatches imports to your iPhone first. Your photos only move when you send them. Calendar access, notifications, and online captioning are all under your control. Online captioning is optional and off by default — when you turn it on and start an Event Brief, Dispatches sends only your brief text (typed or dictated — voice notes are transcribed on your iPhone first — and, if you link a calendar event, its title, time, location, and notes), the event's location, and the event's date and approximate time to Google's Gemini service to draft richer captions. Your photos, per-photo metadata, and raw voice audio never leave your iPhone.

For wedding, event, sports, and press photographers — anyone who shoots in the field and has someone waiting on the files.

Free to download — import, organising, and on-device captions are always free. One monthly subscription with a 14-day free trial unlocks online AI Event Briefs (50 included each month), exporting, and sharing. The price is shown in the app before you subscribe and varies by region.

Dispatches requires iOS 26.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.1.6 — 2026-09-04

Editing just got much faster. A live histogram now sits in the photo toolbar: land your finger on a tonal region — blacks, shadows, midtones, highlights or whites — and drag sideways to lift or drop just those tones, or drag up and down anywhere on the graph to set contrast. No menus, no sliders to hunt for. Beside it, a Quick Adjust row you fill with the tools you actually reach for. Looks can now carry a full film look, too: tone curve, HSL and split toning.

### 1.1.5 — 2026-08-31

• Scrolling a large Events library no longer makes the grid flicker or reshuffle itself.

• New in Display Options: full-bleed event cards, where the cover photo runs all the way to the bottom of the tile. Pick one, two or three cards per row, and turn Square Crop off to let every cover keep its own shape.

• Each event now shows its photo count above the date, so titles get the full width of the card.

• Asset Details: the show/hide control for the thumbnail strip now matches the Filmstrip's, and pulling down to leave works every time.

• Event briefs now follow a single setting instead of two that promised the same thing.

### 1.1.4 — 2026-08-28

Fixed a crash that could occur when deleting all photos from an event.

Much faster browsing — the filmstrip and photo-to-photo swiping now respond instantly, especially with RAW files.

Photos imported from an SD card now load their thumbnails reliably.

Reduced memory use when swiping through and editing large photos.

Improved editing quality, including better colour handling and sharper downscaling.

Export progress and the Brief drawer now keep their state correctly.

### 1.1.3 — 2026-08-21

Colour and detail fixes across the editor.

• Wide-gamut photos keep their colour profile through editing. Display P3 and Adobe RGB files were being converted to sRGB on edit, which flattened saturated colours.
• Resized exports are more accurate. Downscaling now averages in linear light, so fine detail holds its brightness.
• Sharpening looks the same in the editor as it does in the exported file.
• Steadier clarity at the top of the slider.
• Fixes for crashes when browsing and editing photos.

### 1.1.1 — 2026-08-11

Fixes for checking photos stored in iCloud.

• Checking star ratings on iCloud photos no longer stops the moment you scroll. It pauses while you scroll, then picks up from where it left off.
• Checking now continues on its own each time you open the import drawer, instead of waiting for you to tap Retry.
• Tap the status line to open a progress card showing how many photos have been checked and how many are left.
• The number of unchecked photos was overstated when you shoot RAW+JPEG. It now counts photos, not files.
• If you have chosen not to include iCloud photos, the app no longer reports them as unchecked — that is expected, not a problem.
• TikTok now appears when you set up destinations during onboarding.
• Pick any platform straight from a workflow's send step, instead of adding it as a new destination first.
