This app lets you measure the point-to-point (great-circle) distance between two or more waypoints on a map or measure the surface area defined by a polygon having three or more points as its corners. It uses online maps so it needs an internet connection. Tap and hold to set a new waypoint, tap the options icon to read the manual or to open the settings view to change the map type or the measuring unit. You can choose between (kilo)meters, feet/yards/miles and nautical miles. The options menu also lets you choose to go to the Save/Restore view. Tap the calculated measurement at the bottom of the map to switch between feet/yards/miles or meters/hectometers/kilometers. FANTASTIC for PRS (precision shooting rifle, long range match set up for many target placements at different ranges) It also calculates hectares / acres to a very close degree. I own a couple of farms & acreages that I’ve tested it out on physically and it’s calculations are very close to the $$$$ land & soil map survey’s. This could also be a huge help in the Forestry industry. Could be a huge time saver in estimating forest area regarding timber sales. I can especially see this as a time saving tool for professional timber cruisers when one gets the question “what do you think it’s worth off the top of your head” when a property owner is in the “kicking tire” estimate mood. :) It seems it may estimate an acreage as you may be able to ride the perimeter of an acreage pinning waypoints to estimate. And it may have that ability now as I have not played with it that much. I did see where it appeared (or soon be) able to do a radius. I need more time to work & play with it. That said, it does exactly what and more than I was looking for in an app. OK, enough, to long and wordy. Still can’t tell how to measure between Pt A & Pt B... ### 5/5 — Easily Visualize Great Circle Distances *2018-01-02, version 3.4.0* Easily get the true distance between any two points on Earth - allowing for the curvature of the Earth if the distance is large enough. Link multiple points to measure routes or areas. It’s a simple app but thanks to the use of satellite imagery you can find the size of anything you can see anywhere on the planet. I often use it to estimate the size of buildings and other structures as well as measuring actual distances. It’s a useful companion for zoom photography too because you can use it to determine the exact distance to the subject when documenting images.
