I use it all the time to quickly determine acres and distances on forest properties. You foresters, give it a try. You'll like it. Polygonal area algorithm needs work *2014-11-27, version 3.2.0* I just tried this app and find it generally well designed and useful. One suggestion though; the polygonal vertex generator events should be separated from the polygonal edge-generation process. The edges are best generated after the user declares all the vertices to be defined. That way the nearest-vertex-neighbour edges can be then generated, to give the area of the global polygon that the user intends to measure. I liked the great circle trace, so I upgraded. Now lat/lon search in either format (with NS/EW or +-) causes a solid crash. Unfortunately, no developer email offered, else I'd have taken this offline and reviewed a fixed version. Fix it, and I'll re-review, with likely a better outcome. The range of measurements and options is brilliant. As an avid flight simmer I find this app an easy and convenient aid to flight planning. The placement and moving of waypoints is so simple as changing the types of measurements. Google maps measures distances on roads but this covers point to point where there are no roads or no recognized roads. ### 5/5 — Exactly what I needed *2018-04-05, version 3.4.0* Works great for calculating longer “as the crow flies” distance. FANTASTIC for PRS (precision shooting rifle, long range match set up for many target placements at different ranges) It also calculates hectares / acres to a very close degree. I own a couple of farms & acreages that I’ve tested it out on physically and it’s calculations are very close to the $$$$ land & soil map survey’s. This could also be a huge help in the Forestry industry. Could be a huge time saver in estimating forest area regarding timber sales. I can especially see this as a time saving tool for professional timber cruisers when one gets the question “what do you think it’s worth off the top of your head” when a property owner is in the “kicking tire” estimate mood. :) It seems it may estimate an acreage as you may be able to ride the perimeter of an acreage pinning waypoints to estimate. And it may have that ability now as I have not played with it that much. I did see where it appeared (or soon be) able to do a radius. I need more time to work & play with it. That said, it does exactly what and more than I was looking for in an app. OK, enough, to long and wordy. Thank you sir. ### 5/5 — Easily Visualize Great Circle Distances *2018-01-02, version 3.4.0* Easily get the true distance between any two points on Earth - allowing for the curvature of the Earth if the distance is large enough. Link multiple points to measure routes or areas. It’s a simple app but thanks to the use of satellite imagery you can find the size of anything you can see anywhere on the planet. I often use it to estimate the size of buildings and other structures as well as measuring actual distances. It’s a useful companion for zoom photography too because you can use it to determine the exact distance to the subject when documenting images.
