## What is Diurna?

Diurna helps restaurants, hotels, cafes and shops manage their team's schedule and working time from the phone. Plan shifts, record attendance and absences, and export clear reports to Excel or CSV.

What you can do with Diurna

• Plan shifts in day, week and timeline views
• Record time and attendance for the whole team
• Log absences (sick leave, vacation, time off) and overtime in a few taps
• Keep team members and their contracts in one place
• Export hours, absences and overtime to Excel or CSV
• Switch between light and dark mode
• Work in Italian, English, German, French, Dutch, Spanish or Portuguese

Employee app
Turn on the Diurna employee app for your team. On their own phones, people clock in and out, see their hours worked in My hours and their shifts, send requests (vacation, time off, sick leave, overtime) and get notifications about their shifts and your replies. The time clock is switched on by the business or its payroll firm, which can also check whether someone is at the workplace: the exact position never leaves the phone. You decide who uses it.

Knowledge base
Upload your own documents: collective agreements, procedures, policies, safety rules and FAQs. The chat in the app answers questions from them and shows the source, so answers stay consistent with your own rules, without searching through files. Diurna's own user guide is built in. Included in the Pro plan.

Designed for Italian and Austrian working-time rules
Diurna is designed for working-time rules in Italy and Austria. Set up the rules of your contract, and Diurna helps you keep absences and overtime consistent as you record them.

Free trial
Try Diurna free for 30 days. After the trial, you subscribe in the app.

Your data
The data of your business and your team is protected and stays private to your account.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 24.7 — 2026-10-24

• New: the employee app now has a time clock. From their phone, people can clock in and out (and log breaks) and see their hours in "My hours". The employee app is switched on business by business
• For employers: the "Team now" page shows who is at work right now
• Optional location check: if the business or its payroll firm turns it on, the app checks at clock-in that you are at the workplace. Your exact location never leaves your phone
• Working-time checks: when an entry clashes with another, the message tells you which entry is already there and what to do
• Scheduling: a rest check between one working day and the next; the scheduling panel and on-call shifts are checked like other entries
• No entries before the start or after the end of a contract: the message shows the contract date
• Late arrival and early departure now count only the minutes missed
• If a check cannot be run, saving stops and you are asked to try again
• Records page: editing an entry now follows the rules too
• If an on-call shift is blocked and cannot be cancelled, we now explain why
• Rules by country: maximum work without a break and daily rest follow the business's country. In the United Kingdom and Portugal, the payroll closing day stays open until midnight, local time
• Businesses that run their own payroll can see and edit their own working rules in Settings
• Austria: a new working-time checks page, date of birth now required, a choice of rules (statutory or the hotel and restaurant agreement), and an average of normal hours with its payroll export
• Employees: one single check for the employee form and for bulk upload. Fixed-term contracts need an end date, with a note in the employee list
• Chat: a reply that repeats endlessly is no longer shown, and the app asks again
• Guides and help (i) updated with the new rules
• Chat: a notification bell in the chat header, for employers and employees
• Employer chat: the history in the side menu is grouped by month and year
• The side menu now starts below the status bar
• In-app help for employees: four updates. Overtime alongside other entries on the same day, overtime rules, late arrival or early departure counting only the minutes missed, and requests after the end of a contract. The tip for adding an extra shift on top of the usual one now matches the app: set the usual shift to Day off, then add the shift

### 24.6 — 2026-10-22

• Chat on your phone: actions now appear as suggestions under the message box instead of the "+" button, and you can pull down to refresh
• The chat assistant now checks dates, times, hours, absence type and employee against what you wrote: if something does not add up, it asks you a question instead of saving
• Chats with a saved record stay locked and are kept for 2 years, as noted in the history settings
• Scheduling: regular shifts follow the weekly schedule in effect on each date, and absences of a few hours are entered on the Records page
• On-Call: clearer rules on what can be changed before and during a shift. In Italy, a shift reported to the Ministry of Labor can be corrected within the reported days and cancelled within 3 days if it did not take place
• Payroll cut-off: for client users, days in the closed period are locked, with clearer messages
• Durations are always shown in hours and minutes, never decimal hours
• New Appearance setting: the theme can follow your phone
• Polished screens on iPad and phone, with guides and help updated for the new rules

### 24.5 — 2026-10-21

• Ask your documents: if your payroll firm has switched it on, the chat assistant answers from your documents (contracts, procedures, handbooks) and shows which document each answer comes from
• New Text size setting: in Settings, choose from 90% to 150%, or follow your device
• Easier-to-read chat: text sized for phones and clearer colors for your messages, selected options and times
• Typing in the chat no longer moves the whole page: the header stays in place and the message box sits right above the keyboard
• The clock and battery are readable again in the light theme, and the dark theme stays on after you restart the app
• Chat: date ranges are written in full (for example "from March 3 to 7"), the payroll cutoff day no longer locks the chat on that day itself, and absence types are saved correctly
• Clearer, gender-neutral wording in every language
• Security updates and smaller fixes
• Fix: on-call shifts that cross the October 25 clock change in Europe no longer lose the last day of the range

### 24.4 — 2026-10-18

• Voice input in the chat: hold the microphone to dictate and release to send, or tap it to dictate into the message field. A red dot, a timer and bars that follow your voice show that it is listening
• Sign back in with Face ID or your fingerprint after logging out; you can remove this from the device in Settings
• A smaller reminder about sensitive data in the chat, and tidier buttons at the top of the chat
• Monthly close with reminders before the payroll cutoff, for business owners and payroll firms
• New (i) button on every page that explains what the page is for
• Payroll firms can show their own logo, colors and font to their team and clients, in the web app and the mobile app, plus branded emails
• Austria: payroll export for Austrian payroll software (BMD/CSV), Austrian labor profiles, and documents and guides for each country
• Security updates and smaller fixes

### 24.1 — 2026-10-16

• Business owners can plan their own staff's shifts in the app, once their payroll firm switches it on
• Real absence types such as holiday or sick leave, over several days; edit or delete absences and overtime in the planning
• Public holidays in the calendar, plus live checks: shift length, overnight shifts and working-time and rest rules
• Italy, on-call shifts: once communicated to the Ministry, the day is fixed and the start can't move earlier
• On phones the week is an easy agenda list, with larger touch targets and clearer wording
• Self-managed businesses can delete their account in Settings after exporting their data. Payroll firms can choose which alerts they receive
• AI chat now reminds you not to enter health data, and your conversations are removed from this device when you log out
• AI chat voice input now works reliably: tap the microphone and your words appear in the message field as you speak
• Updated privacy policy, terms and data processing documents
