You can filter GPS, but as most of my dives are without coordinates, defaulting to dive number is helpful. And 2- I can now manually enter GPS coordinates for dives that I know them for. I would still stick with the old Shearwater Cloud App unless you have the new Swift GPS for now, but they are making improvements. My primary log is still a third party app. Cloud version would be second. We hope we can raise your rating even more as we work on this app. ### 1/5 — Full of bugs *2026-03-20, version 1.0.5* The app doesn’t work at all without an internet connection, which is a major limitation—especially for divers who are often offline. Editing dive details is unreliable: changing something simple like a dive name or location can unexpectedly modify multiple dives, leading to lost or incorrect information. Synchronization is also inconsistent. When a sync fails, some dives disappear and there’s no way to recover or re-sync them. ### 1/5 — Needs a lot of work *2026-03-11* There are a lot of bugs. Once I look at a dive, I am unable to go to any other dive without shutting down the entire app. I cannot find where to upload pictures of my dives. While my dives transferred over from shearwater cloud, the app does not feel intuitive at all. **Developer response:** Hello, thanks for the feedback, we’re sorry to hear you’re running into these issues. We’re aware of navigation bugs when viewing dives and are actively working to improve stability and flow between logs. We appreciate you taking the time to share this, it really helps us prioritize what to fix next. ### 2/5 — Latest release is better, but still terrible. *2026-03-09* Still major issues with changing name of dive location. When reviewing dives it takes you back to the top of the list after you exit a dive so searching through multiple older dives is a huge pain. My wife used gps from my transmitter and for some reason her “pins” are in Africa when mine are correct. Very unpolished and disappointing “upgrade”, although still feels less 1980’s than shearwater cloud. The terrible apps pit a dark cloud over the experience. The hardware is amazing, but the software doesn’t match the experience. Please let us know what you think. ### 1/5 — Super buggy - it will screw up your logs permanently if you’re not careful. *2026-03-06, version 1.0.5* It took several tries for it to sync with Shearwater Cloud. Also, you cannot seem to add GPS coordinates manually. And if you try, and you edit other dives and the map pointer hasn’t changed, it will star renaming other unrelated dives. It is a great way to screw up your logs. Also, once it has renamed several dives because you tried to manually enter them, it will not let you rename them back. So until they fix it, it will permanently screen up your logs. ### 2/5 — Excruciatingly rough draft *2026-02-12* Concept is an improvement over the previous app, but execution is way off. Tons of bugs, not ready for prime time. GPS integration is a train wreck. ### 1/5 — Not even to beta quality *2026-02-10* Huge Shearwater fan, but this app is unusable. I was going to purchase the new Swift GPS and I am holding off on that purchase until this app is usable. It’s not even to beta standards. This is an alpha at best. I’ll continue without gps and using the cloud app and a third party app for my logging. ### 1/5 — Disappointed *2026-02-06* How can a company make such a great dive computer but partner it with such a clunky and bug riddled app. I would have expected more. We hope that the latest update has improved your expectation. ### 1/5 — Shear-ing Our Expectations to Pieces *2026-01-30* It’s fascinating to see how Shearwater, a company with such a diehard fan base for its products (including me) continues to drop the ball so repeatedly on the app and create so much dissatisfaction and shock. There’s nothing in this app that is groundbreaking or innovative. Every feature has been around for years in other apps, nothing new. AND THATS TOTALLY FINE! But because of that…there’s also NO EXCUSE for why it shouldn’t just work, especially months later. Being a small company typically buys some slack…but they keep repeating their same mistakes over and over and over. Either they don’t have the right development staff, or enough of them. If they hired a vendor to build this for them…they cheaped out on it and it shows. Either way, they clearly don’t care enough to prioritize this area. One example - how in the world does the searchable dive map/location finder…the part that ties to the new Swift GPS and (presumably) the MAIN REASON they rushed out this app…STILL NOT HAVE ANY DIVE SITES IN IT!!! It’ll find my house on the map, but not the Spiegel Grove (probably the most famous/dived wreck in the US). The units don’t match the stats on the graphs, it lists the settings I had on my computer incorrectly, it’s missing the GPS coordinates from dives and ability to manually enter them or copy/paste from other dives. Its default sorting/setting are bonkers. I could go on and on. Guys, whoever sold you the idea that you’d release this Agile style and start with the MVP and add other features in later…news flash…MVP stands for Minimum VIABLE product, not MINIMUM PRODUCT. The app currently is not viable. It’s an alpha or beta at best. If you released it before it was ready because it was needed to support the Swift GPS release, then you should’ve delayed the product release. If that was never an option, then you dug your own grave through poor project management on the app dev/release schedule, which considering it’s a recurring problem means that skill/resource gap is systemic. Free advice. Take that money you’re spending on your Avelo jet pack nobody is going to buy, and hire an all-star technical PgM to clean up whatever disfunction you’ve got going on with your PI planning, invest in better and/or more developers, or spend the money to bring on a better vendor team. This app supports all of your products and should be seen as a foundational capability for your growth and retention strategy…not a side project for your intern. ### 1/5 — Doesn’t work *2026-01-20, version 1.0.4* I am unable to synchronise my existing dives in shearwater cloud. Tried every variant of refreshing, logging out and deleting the app with no success :( ### 1/5 — Oh brother *2026-01-15, version 1.0.4* The old shearwater app was no good and that theme continues here. New coat of paint still full of issues. ### 1/5 — What a joke *2026-01-15* Worse than the original Shearwater app…Can’t even log properly despite me being patient with this new horrible app. To the teams that developed this app at Shearwater, if you guys are really serious about your app and want people to actually USE it, please rewrite this ‘Dive’ app from scratch and make it better than the current state this app is in…ASAP!!! Or this is just going to be another app wasting peoples’ time…Seriously… **Developer response:** Hello, the experience you’re describing issues with logging, performance, and overall usability is not where we want the app to be. We know there are areas that need significant improvement, and the team is actively working on stability and core functionality. The log in issues have now been resolved. Your feedback around reliability and usability is especially important, as those are fundamental to the experience. We’re continuing to make updates, and input like yours helps push those improvements forward. ### 1/5 — Glitchy and missing features *2026-01-14, version 1.0.3* Just not working yet. Units on the dive profile are missing and the scale is off, nothing like the pictures they are showing. SAC rate for the dive is missing. People using imperial measures will find translation errors (entered 81F air temp and it converts to 177.8F on the summary), And for an app designed specifically to track gps with the new gps transmitter, you can’t enter gps coordinates for older dives or even get the gps coordinates from your current dive. I’m sure this will all get fixed. But for now, I’d hold off on converting. I regret buying the new transmitter and should have waited until this app is fixed. ### 1/5 — Even worse that Cloud *2026-01-11, version 1.0.3* I would not download unless you absolutely must. Terrible app. Prob better on a phone, but those of us using ipads to access will suffer. App cannot deal with the new iOS 26 features and is not user friendly at all. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Still worse than the original app *2026-07-07, version 1.1.0* After ALL this time, how is it still worse than the original app? Current worst complaint: app won’t open without internet. So you can’t upload your dives and make notes while on most liveaboards. Literally just having a pen and paper works better than this app. ### 1/5 — Um, terrible *2026-07-01* I absolutely love my Shearwater dive computers but this app is an abomination. I can emphasize enough how awful this app is you can’t delete a dive, import dives that aren’t on your computer and just the general use of the app is terrible. Come on Shearwater get your act together on this one. ### 1/5 — Need to stick with Shearwater Cloud *2026-06-14* The only feature lacking from the prior app was mapping/location. This app loses so much functionality to merely add mapping capabilities. This is completely unusable and should be scrapped. ### 1/5 — Disappointed *2026-06-05* So disappointed. My first dive with my Peregrine TX was great and everything sync’d fine. Two dives the next day and the recorded dive location is 1000 miles away and doesn’t match either the entry or exit coordinates. Where/how does the app obtain dive location? Why wouldn’t it use either of those locations. My 4th dive didn’t record location but my 5th dive did. Downloaded to the app and it lost the 5th dive’s log number. Start and entry time are completely wrong. Just a lot of data corruption. So disappointed to see my log book getting corrupted after spending $1200 on it. ### 1/5 — So Bad *2026-05-23* Why did you switch?? The cloud version was SOOOOO much better than this. It’s pretty unusable. The iPad app is terrible. The phone app is terrible. You can navigate to anything or really find anything. Please improve. ### 1/5 — Computer is great, App is NOT *2026-05-20* Shearwater, please please please find a person or team to completely overhaul your app. It is not user friendly at all and there are a million ways to improve the app experience with all of the amazing data that you can download off of the Peregrine. The computer is top of the line, but the app might be the worst one I’ve seen. I look forward to the day when I get a notification that there is an app overhaul and I can download the new experience. Looking forward to it!!! ### 1/5 — Bug-Filled App *2026-04-08* What a disgrace for a company that makes exceptional diving hardware to release a software app of such poor quality. The sync to Shearwater Cloud is random and incomplete only downloading my first 13 dives. When pressing the sync button it falsely claims data is downloading. If you start to complete a page and have to pause it clears when swapping screens. Pure junk **Developer response:** Hello, we’re really sorry to hear about your experience. App cannot deal with the new iOS 26 features and is not user friendly at all. ### 1/5 — Very bad app *2026-04-06, version 1.0.6* The former app Shearwater Cloud was bad but at least it worked, for some reason Shearwater make the best dive computers around but the worst apps, it would’ve been nice if you could easily manage your dives but somehow all my dives are doubled and it’s a pita to delete the doubles, i have to select them one by one, hit edit, the delete the dive but sometimes the edit button doesn’t work and i’m stuck on a blank page ### 1/5 — Can’t log any dives *2026-03-28, version 1.0.5* Whenever I try to add a dive, the app says to retry. What’s the point of a dive logging app when it can’t even do this? Definitely an upgrade from the previous version. ### 5/5 — Good first step *2025-12-03, version 1.0.1* This is a good first step on a new app. I don’t love hiding dives not on the map, but let’s go Shearwater, time to keep improving. ### 4/5 — Good app after recent improvements *2026-05-12, version 1.0.7* The app had a few annoying bugs when initially launched, but think Shearwater has done a good job on sorting most of them out. There are still a few things that could be improved, such as full screen graph, but I know they are working hard on constantly improving so I’m sure we’ll see me useful features in the near future. ### 4/5 — Better… Improvements *2026-04-21, version 1.0.6* The last few updates have been better. ### 3/5 — Good and I am sure it will get better *2026-06-26* With all the harsh reviews I thought I’d add a more positive experience. Just returned from 17 dives and 4 of us logged them all with this app from our Peregrine TX. Overall the app is a great start. Sure there are some bugs here and there but we found a few work arounds to get our complete logs in just fine and it wasn’t that difficult. Looking forward to what Shearwater does with this as I am confident they will make this a great experience. ### 3/5 — Generally good, with an annoying glitch *2026-03-12* Having a consistent problem; after syncing the app with the watch, all the data loads fine. Then when I edit the individual dive names and numbers, later on I find that a name assigned to a single dive replaced the name on several dives. I fix it, and it happens again. Not so much for a general release. There are bugs all over the place. Some are simple fixes, others not so much. The database they have for dive sites is not existent. All they have are land sites. There is no way to enter gps coordinates into the maps to allow you to set your own sites. Hopefully they will start serious development and updates quickly. The graphs are not as good and the SAC rate graph doesn't seem to work at all. Would be great to have a SAC rate in litres/min too of you've entered all the necessary information. I'm currently having to do this manually which is frustrating when the app could do it. ### 2/5 — export to PDF *2026-04-22, version 1.0.7* We hope it can revert to the previous version, so that dive logs can be exported as PDF files for easy printing. ### 2/5 — Not very intuitive *2026-04-15* I switched over from another integrated computer system that provided SAC and RMV in your log but find the app impossible to navigate to see it. Also, as an Instructor I would like an easier way to put it in pool mode for teaching confined water. When I go for a real dive, cleaning up the junk dives takes quite a while. On my Garmin I can tell my computer to ignore those dives. Might have to stop teaching with the Perdix 2 because I went to clear the log, deleted the junk dives, and renumbered them appropriately. However, once I do that, it isn’t easy to discern why the next log number goes to whatever the count was going to be if the junk dives were included. It’s a step up from Cloud but the promises made at Dema this year haven’t been realized yet.
