### 3/5 — Doesn’t work with Bluetooth

*2018-10-18, version 2.0.1*

The app itself works good but will not work running Bluetooth the sound still comes from the iPad instead of the Bluetooth speaker major disappointment since I need it to work via Bluetooth for the application I’m using it for

### 3/5 — Not the best out there

*2013-08-19, version 1.4*

Am I missing something? Can't load a playlist. Very limited for professional use.

### 3/5 — Automix feature

*2013-02-22, version 1.1*

Gd app but wen will you add auto mixing from 1 deck to the next

### 4/5 — Changing my review

*2012-05-17, version 1.0*

I dug into the program and noticed that the ability to switch between playlists/artists/songs/albums etc. was at the bottom of the song selection list, so I'm deleting the original review and posting this instead.

I've used PCDJ products for years, so it was nice to have this as a backup to the real program. That said, I do have a few quibbles:

1. If you accidentally hit the main button while working in the program, it shuts down. Need to have an option that would prevent this, perhaps using the orientation lock switch.
2. Sliders aren't as responsive as I would hope - they tend to shift back and forth around the spot you want them to be.
3. An "auto-mix" button would be nice.

### 2/5 — Not stable

*2012-05-06, version 1.0*

Could be great but not yet ready for primetime. Sound goes out and it crashes alot..pls update thanks

### 2/5 — Sync

*2012-04-29, version 1.0*

When syncing after about 3-5 seconds it loses sync and the beats do not match

### 2/5 — Freeze

*2012-04-11, version 1.0*

Doing certain thing cause your song to freeze or sound goes out.

### 3/5 — Not there yet!

*2012-04-09, version 1.0*

I have & have used almost all of the respectable DJing apps, and this ranks as average. While it has some very good points, the app is unfortunately brought down by a few bad ones.

The waveform grabbing is a great feature, but as soon as you let go, the song takes off playing even if the song was paused. Now this is great for scratch simulating, but not so much when you are trying to precisely set a cue point. And speaking of cue points...
The cue point creation & management is an absolutely dreadful system. Lastly, the pitch fader range is to wide, & the pitch bend is way to sensitive.

The bpm detection & sync are both top notch, so all the DJs who cannot beat mix manually are in luck.

I will keep checking back with it as it is updated, because I really think it can become one of the better apps. It is just not there yet.

### 2/5 — Mediocre

*2012-04-08, version 1.0*

The app seems response and well laid out; however, the pitch slider is +/- 16% and not very precise for tight mixing, i would suggest making other pitch ranges available such as +/- 4 % and +/- 8 % with 0.01 % pitch increments.

### 3/5 — Good Start

*2012-04-06, version 1.0*

First, the pros:

Decent interface, grabbable waveforms, decent automatic beatgrids, FX sound good, looping is simple and works, 3 band EQ and gain control.

And the Cons:

The faders are very small and hard to grab with your finger, when the deck is stopped, swiping the waveform starts the track playing (why?), no controls for correcting a beatgrid if it is miscalculated, the EQs don't have kills, the faders don't double tap to center (pretty much every app does this, it's a nice touch), the cue points don't have an option to snap to beat, the library could use a little work, no parameter controls for FX.

It works well at the most basic level, but I know it can get a LOT better, can't wait to see some updates!

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work with Numark DJ2Go2

*2020-12-20, version 2.0.1*

I paid for this purely to use with the Numark DJ2Go2 controller, which is supposed to work with the software. It doesn’t.

### 1/5 — I want my money back

*2018-06-25, version 2.0.1*

They stole me again (PCDJ FX).
iOS 11.4 + iPad Pro 9” + 22.000 songs = the app never started.

### 1/5 — Waste of money

*2016-01-01*

Sorry can't load music files due to some protection.
Waste of money really.

### 1/5 — Crashed

*2015-09-16, version 1.4*

Constantly crashing and can't play half the music from my iPad. This app is junk and I would like an immediate refund. I currently run dex 3 on my MacBook, could not be more dissatisfied with this app

### 1/5 — Avoid due to DRM issues

*2015-07-20, version 1.4*

Not good at all whenever i try to load a song is says DRM protected so the app is totally unusable

### 1/5 — Crashes

*2014-09-29, version 1.4*

I purchased the dj dex app for my IPad yesterday for use with my Numark Dj2go controller. As soon as a turn on the external mixer setting in the software the application crashes and stops working. It must be deleted and reinstalled. Please refund my payment for this application.

### 1/5 — Unstable

*2013-04-07*

Very unstable, crashes a lot and sometimes right in the middle of a song. Don't waste your money on this, it's a great layout and concept but worthless for any kind of DJ show.

### 1/5 — Please fix the crashing

*2013-02-10, version 1.1*

Great App and I would love to give it 5 stars but it regularly crashes on lots of tracks. Very, very unstable.

Message to the developers - Please, please, o' very please fix the crashing, then you will get 5 stars.

### 1/5 — Useless app

*2012-11-01, version 1.1*

It reports every tune as unable to load as it may be DRM protected yet ipad plays all of them with no problems. Give me my money
back. Mix of tracks ripped from cd, purchased from HMV digital etc

### 1/5 — Crash Central

*2012-04-26, version 1.0*

This Crashes before I have a chance to load a song. Please fix!

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Very good app

*2018-05-23, version 2.0.1*

Long time user of PC DEX which is a great program, was glad to get this iPad app. I really like this app, easy to use. One problem that I have with it is that it doesn’t store cue points. That is a big issue with me since I use cue points in live services. In order for me to use this app, I have to set up all cue points all over again for each session. I will continue using the app hoping an update will fix this. I gave it 5 stars because I love the other functionality and ease of use. One other problem, when I search for a song, it finds the same song multiple times in the search results, even though the song is only stored in one location in iTunes.

### 5/5 — Nice start

*2013-09-20, version 1.4*

I've been using pcdj for many years. As usual this is a solid app. This app seems to be in early stages but is rock solid. Definitely a real app.

### 5/5 — DJ DEX

*2012-04-28, version 1.0*

Great app does exactly what you need and not too complicated ! Brilliant but only one down side, does not have auto mix !!! Get it sorted...

### 5/5 — Nice!

*2012-04-10, version 1.0*

Own a couple of the dj apps but I really like the layout of this one since everything that I use seems to be on the one screen. I really like that the looping snaps to the closest beat so it's tight. The BPM and the sync both work spot on. I do want to see more playlist management and automix, but other than that they did a great job with this app and for that price. Nice!

### 5/5 — Fun app

*2012-04-09, version 1.0*

I've haven't had much experience with DJ apps and this one seemed pretty easy to learn. I'm really having fun with it!

### 5/5 — My new Favorite DJ App

*2012-04-06, version 1.0*

I have been using PCDJ software for years and was about to buy a different app and I am Glad I didn't. This application is great. The interface is simple and easy to use. I love the grabbable waveform
which I don't see on any other applications. Now that all the top DJ hardware companies are making hardware to interface with the IPad, DJ Dex will be my top choice. Great Job PCDJ!!!!

### 5/5 — Best DJ app for 10 bucks

*2012-04-06, version 1.0*

I own three other DJ apps and I was able to get up and mixing with this one the easiest. I really love the interactive waveform. Great jobs guys!

### 4/5 — Audio splitter failed

*2018-06-02*

So I have a iPad 6 generation to lighting to camera usb to powered usb hub with a scarlet 2i2 and a Ddj-sb3 when audio spitter is turned on sound cuts to main speaker and headphones other wise VERRY NICE APP SUPPORTS THE CONTROLLERS YOU LOVE! I will give it 5 * when audio splitter doesn’t crash the sound thank you for this BOMB APP!

### 4/5 — Super but save mixes!!!!!!!!

*2013-05-03, version 1.4*

A great buy- easy to use and create good music instantly.. But PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let me save the mixes I make so I can listen to them again!!!!!!!

### 4/5 — Not bad...

*2012-07-12, version 1.1*

This is actually a really good DJ app, when it works properly, it can actually be used with some finesse. The syncing works well with 4x4 music.

Although there is still a lot of bugs (iPad1) even with the update.

Some constructive criticism...

1. The audio seems to drop on the deck that is not playing sometimes, reloading the track normally helps, but is not really viable in most situations.

2. All the sliders are a bit small to effectively grab, often it takes two attempts to actually get hold of it. The track progress bar/slider is almost impossible to grab easily. Could these not be replaced with the entire tracks waveform preview, alongside the magnified view, so we can see when breakdowns occur etc and drag to there etc? There seems to be enough space to make these bigger. Just make the Brake, Echo, Flanger, Sync, Cue and Play buttons a bit slimmer. Same goes for the Equalizer, please make these sliders/handles bigger with the ability to double tap them back to the default position.

3. The pitch sliders will also benefit with a double tap to get them back to neutral.

4. The FX section could also do with some sort of parameter to change the effects strength and tone, these effects get really boring very quickly, as it is the same thing every time!

5. The beatgrid lines sometimes do some funky things, like adding in extra visual lines in between. It doesn't seem to change the syncing, not too sure what's happening there.

6. You have to keep on pressing sync every now and again as the two tracks slowly drift (you can even see this in their video), not a big problem but why would they drift if they are synced?

7. You can multitouch some functions but not others.

All in all, it's one of the top 3 DJ apps out there, I actually find it easier to use than DJay apart from not seeing a full track waveform. Can't compare it to CrossDJ as it wont run on my iPad1.

Please update to make it more user friendly and more stable and you will have a winner!
