### 3/5 — Almost good enough

*2026-06-04, version 5.0.3*

Just needs an option for a dark mode, live scores, and to scale the app to work right with an iPhone since it’s not edited for an iPhone 17 with the screen cutout at the top.

### 3/5 — Can’t Close Ads

*2025-08-03, version 5.0.3*

Love the journalism of the site and the fact that it is no longer paywalled. However, the ads in the iPhone app take up the whole screen and the close icon is in the top right corner, where tapping it doesn’t work. You have to hard close and reopen the app to get them to disappear

### 2/5 — They don’t take care of customers

*2025-05-21, version 5.0.3*

Don’t expect timely, if any, customer support. I’ve had a request pending for a week, requested several times with zero response.

### 2/5 — Content is great. Ads are rough

*2024-09-25, version 5.0.3*

The actual content is fantastic. 5 stars. The ads make the app unbelievably frustrating to use. Constantly refreshing or jumping back to the tops of pages.

If you can shell out the $$$ for a sub, do it to actually enjoy the content.

### 5/5 — Suggestion

*2024-09-14, version 5.0.3*

I love this app a lot as I’m a Pens fan. Just want to bring to attention of a bug I found in the app. In the Game tab, each game is not tappable. When I tap on a game, nothing happens. I have to long press on the tittle of game (ex: Pens vs Bruins) then choose open and it will open in the external browser. Hope this will be fixed soon. Thank you for all the hard work!

### 5/5 — The best!!!

*2024-09-02, version 5.0.3*

DK is the best sports writer, bar none!! This app gives absolutely the best coverage of Pittsburgh sports anywhere! Worth every penny!

### 5/5 — Outstanding coverage for phenomenal price

*2024-07-16, version 5.0.3*

I have been reading DK for over 25 years through his path of the old print media up to this current treasure of top notch sports media coverage.
They do a outstanding job of straight forward reporting on the sport teams, as well as highly informative opinion pieces that are quite unique.
I advise anyone who has even the slightest interest in any Pittsburgh sports, to take advantage and support this enterprise in any way possible. Good day..

### 5/5 — Indispensable Pgh Sports Resource

*2024-07-13, version 5.0.3*

The best professional coverage of Pittsburgh sports anywhere. They've been doing it for 10 years, and it keeps getting better.

### 5/5 — Best in the Burgh

*2024-05-10, version 5.0.2*

If you love any of our cities major sport franchises, this is a must subscribe. Free to read but the subscription to comment and engage with the writers is worth every penny (and it is ad free).

Couldn’t imagine watching a live Steelers game without DK and crew.

### 5/5 — Better than any newspaper sports section

*2024-05-06, version 5.0.2*

DK has assembled a staff of trained, experienced, professional sports writers (including himself) that’s as good or better than any of the Pittsburgh newspapers at their best. All original, on-the-spot reporting, not recycled from other outlets. I subscribe for the Pirates and Steelers coverage.

### 5/5 — Great sports reporting

*2024-03-23, version 5.0.1*

Best place for Pittsburgh sports. No hot takes. No made up conspiracy theories. Just facts told well.

### 5/5 — A Pittsburgh Sports must

*2024-03-23*

I have followed DK when he employed by the Post-Gazette and Trib. Loved his stuff. Was so intrigued when he announced this interesting and unique endeavor. I was in and am an original member. It just gets better and better every year. First app I go to every morning. Couldn’t, recommend it more

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — TDS at its finest

*2026-07-06, version 5.0.3*

If you want to follow Pittsburgh Sports with a tinge of anti Trump propaganda DK is your guy. He’ll never fail to alienate 50% of his audience while disabling your comments and blocking you. He asked us to leave and we have obliged!

### 1/5 — Sicko owner

*2026-02-25, version 5.0.3*

Dean Kovacevic has turned this once competent site into political chaos. He hates all Trump supporters and told them to get off of his site and insulted anyone who protested these comments in a vile manner. He is truly mentally ill.

### 1/5 — Thin Skinned

*2026-02-24, version 5.0.3*

DK invites those who disagree with his opinions with “there’s the door”. Makes political statements with the expected “this isn’t about politics” blather. He’s as thin-skinned as they come.

### 1/5 — Waste of time and $

*2026-02-24, version 5.0.3*

If you want a real platform go to The Athletic. This one doesn’t allow for any outside comment unless you pay. It gives the only the ability to spew his political vitriol and vulgarities without any check. Why should I pay this dude so I can comment??? Find another source - there are many.

### 1/5 — Comment section horrible

*2025-05-31, version 5.0.3*

Typing comments is exhausting and frustrating. Extra painful. Now willing to dive into politics to get attention and clicks.

### 1/5 — Just another sports paywall site

*2025-02-26, version 5.0.3*

I was an early subscriber. The site has fallen far from where it once was. For years readers have dealt with a revolving door of staff with many writers being hired with fanfare from Dejan only to be fired months or even weeks later without any acknowledgement from the site. There’s a more stable staff now but the focus is on quantity not quality. They spit out a ton of weird mini articles without much substance. Also the free app just doesn’t work. It’s just another SI, The Athletic, etc.

### 1/5 — Mess

*2024-12-16, version 5.0.3*

Full page ads pop up and do respond to close even when I click through to the ad website and come back! Happened 3 times in 2 minutes! I’ve deleted the app and tried everything

### 1/5 — Terrible functionality

*2024-09-14, version 5.0.3*

They really try hard to make the app unusable unless you subscribe. The full screen ads constantly refresh your entire screen taking you back to the start of the article over and over, and their ads include pro-Israel, pro-genocide content. Under their old model, I was happy to pay to read their work but am not willing to pay just to make the app usable again.

### 1/5 — Wow this site has fallen from grace

*2024-03-06, version 5.0.1*

I was one of the originals on DK’s site. It amazes me how far his writing and the overall quality of the site and podcasts have fallen. DK and his staff used to write factual articles on the 3 Pro Sport teams in Pittsburgh, but as time carried on, the quality members of his staff left or were fired and replaced by lesser writers. DK himself seems more interested in writing articles that will get clicks instead of having substance. This also carries into his podcasts.

I’d suggest going to the Post Gazette for your information or checking out Reddit at this point.

### 1/5 — Content great. App horrible

*2024-01-05, version 5.0.1*

The content is great but the mobile app has never been good. At some points, it was functional. Lately it’s been more close to non-functional. It’s a shame really. They are really trying by all appearances.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — One-stop-shop for Pittsburgh sports

*2026-06-07, version 5.0.3*

This locally owned and operated outlet provides the best Pittsburgh sports coverage by far. They are the only ones to travel to every game by the city’s three major pro sports teams. They cover every game, perform interviews, and provide exclusive coverage of breaking sports news. Subscription is worth every penny. They even have a store downtown where you can watch them run their live shows.

### 5/5 — My Favorite App

*2025-11-10, version 5.0.3*

I use this app more than any other app on my phone. It’s a must have for any fan of Pittsburgh’s professional sports teams. The content is consistently great and the layout and design of the app makes it very user friendly.

### 5/5 — Incredible Coverage of all Pittsburgh Sports

*2025-08-30, version 5.0.3*

This is single-handedly the greatest resource for all Pittsburgh sports reporting. It is genuine. It is honest. The owners are pure Pittsburgh, with their office operations a literal open door. No matter where you live, you can always get the skinny on every Pittsburgh sports team. They have staff on site at every game. They really are a “beat” coverage. It’s the best money you can spend to get actual sports journalism. Do not walk. Run now to get this app.

### 5/5 — All Pittsburgh all the time with other bits and piece’s thrown in!

*2025-08-23, version 5.0.3*

No better place to keep up with all Pittsburgh area sports. The heaviest coverage includes the 3 major sports (Steelers, Bucs, and Pens) but even covers key items from my favorite Duquesne Dukes and others. Led by DK himself, the staff includes a number of quality young journalists who really shine. Worth the cost of admission!

### 5/5 — Great for the Pittsburgh sports fan

*2025-08-21, version 5.0.3*

I’ll preface this by saying, like anything ad supported, the ad supported version is tough and frustrating to use. But I’m also a subscriber to The Athletic, which is great in its own way, so I have no problem paying for quality work. And as a Steelers and Penguins fan living on the opposite side of the commonwealth, I’ve tried lots of pods and read various coverage, but this has been my favorite. My entry to the app was through the Daily Shots pod, then Double Shot, and DK and Chris do an excellent job covering the Steelers.

### 5/5 — CANT CLOSE IPHONE ADS

*2025-08-07, version 5.0.3*

Cannot close iPhone ads, but good content!!!

### 5/5 — The Best source for PGH Sports

*2025-07-27, version 5.0.3*

I’ve been a subscriber for almost six years, live out of market for 40+ years and without question, DK PGH Sports is my best source for Steelers, Pirates and Penguins reporting. Real depth from guys on the ground. The annual subscription is 100% worth every penny.

### 5/5 — DK

*2025-02-23, version 5.0.3*

The coverage is second to none

### 5/5 — The BEST Sports Site

*2024-12-14, version 5.0.3*

I've been a subscriber to DK Pittsburgh Sports for 9 years and the quality of content has only grown. In addition to having most in depth reporting on ALL Pittsburgh Sports, this is a place where everyone is made to feel respected. The analysis and reporting is both critical and informative, allowing readers to be simultaneously informed and entertained. If you love Pittsburgh Sports, this is the only place to be.

### 5/5 — Great Coverage

*2024-12-14, version 5.0.3*

Worth every penny and that’d be the case even if it weren’t so affordable to purchase an ad-free membership. If you follow Pittsburgh sports, DK and crew are a must.
