## What is Do I Need A Coat??

Decide what to wear before you head out — without scrolling through forecasts.

Do I Need A Coat? reads the weather for the time window you’ll actually be outside, factors in what you’re doing — running, cycling, walking (with or without a dog), watching the match — and tells you what to wear. It learns from your “too cold / too warm” feedback and personalises over time.

HOW IT WORKS

Open the app. Pick your activity. Get a personalised clothing recommendation. Head outside dressed for the weather you’ll actually meet.

WHAT MAKES IT DIFFERENT

• Powered by Apple WeatherKit. Your location stays inside Apple’s privacy boundary — never sent to a third-party weather API.

• No tracking. No ads. No analytics SDKs. No account. Your data stays on your device by default — optional iCloud sync (off unless you turn it on) keeps it in your own iCloud, never our servers.

• Activity-aware. Activity-specific recommendations with intensity and duration controls where they matter. Cycling factors in apparent wind chill from your own speed. Wet conditions get a thermal penalty.

• Forecast trend warnings. Knows when conditions are about to change — pressure drops, incoming rain, temperature swings, rising wind.

• Accessibility-first. VoiceOver, Dynamic Type, and Dark Mode tested in every release.

YOUR DATA STAYS WITH YOU

Your recommendations are generated on-device. Your comfort calibration, feedback history, and location preferences are stored on your device in encrypted Apple system storage. If you turn on iCloud sync (off by default), that data also syncs across your own devices through your iCloud account — never to us. We never collect or sell your location.

iPhone and iPad. iOS 26 or iPadOS 26 or later.

PRICING

Try it free for your first month. After that, keep going with an annual subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase. Founder pricing is locked in until the personalisation engine ships (expected Q2 2027) — and if you join as a founder, you keep your rate for as long as your subscription stays active (a one-time lifetime purchase is yours for good), even after standard pricing begins for new subscribers.

The annual subscription gives you unlimited personalised clothing recommendations for every activity, all year, and improves as you give feedback. It auto-renews each year unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends; manage or cancel anytime in the Settings app — tap your name, then Subscriptions.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 0.19.0 — 2026-08-22

Always walk the dog for 30 mins on the trail? Always bike 45 mins to work? Always run for an hour in the evenings on the road? You can now save those as activities, if you use another device and toggle "sync with iCloud" then they will be on both devices.
Added some tips within the app to help people use it, more to come.

### 0.18.0 — 2026-08-19

Made the notification toggles more granular so you can enable only the ones you want.
Improved the giving feedback section.
Added a tip to explain the "Going out now" button, will add more tips to help new users.
Some more minor fixes mostly around the feedback the app captures.

### 0.16.0 — 2026-08-08

You can now tap the activity, duration and time summary to change any of them in one place, and a weather symbol now sits next to the temperature at a glance.

Wardrobe items you don't own or would never wear can be hidden from your gear list, and any tip that doesn't help you can be dismissed individually.

Multi-stage outings are here — plan a run, some spectating, and the walk back all in one outing, so you know what to pack.

Plus a round of fixes and behind-the-scenes improvements.

### 0.15.4 — 2026-08-05

Sun-protection reminders now use the same UV threshold as the gear advice, so a reminder only ever nudges you about kit the app actually recommended for that outing.

Plus a round of stability fixes and behind-the-scenes tidying.

### 0.15.3 — 2026-07-28

When you give feedback during or after the activity, we now store more data points to help improve future recommendations. Only weather details and clothing, nothing personal, it all still stays on your devices, or your iCloud if you opt in to sync between your devices.

Turned out when it was very very cold we didn't think you would need gloves, fixed that.

Improved how we reconcile feedback synced across devices using iCloud.

Plenty more minor fixes and under the hood improvements to pave the way for the next features.
