## What is Do The Hard Thing?

Do The Hard Thing

Most people run from discomfort. But your brain — especially the prefrontal cortex — actually grows stronger every time you do the hard thing.
This app turns that science into something you can see, track, and celebrate.

Do The Hard Thing is a single-screen resilience trainer that helps you record daily “hard-but-good” intentions and notice how often you follow through.
Each time you choose discipline over comfort, your animated Survival Gauge rises, visualizing your growing mental strength. Skip it, and the gauge dips — a gentle reminder that strength fades when you avoid the challenge.

You can type or speak your intention, tap “Did it” or “Skipped,” and instantly feel the feedback through light haptics and evolving colors. Over time, your streaks, stats, and encouraging messages reveal how consistency rewires the brain for endurance, focus, and hope.

When life feels heavier than a single tap can handle, a compassionate crisis banner appears with hotline 988 — because surviving the hard thing sometimes means reaching for help.

Highlights

– Fast, focused SwiftUI dashboard
– Voice dictation with live transcription
– Animated Survival Gauge ( –500 → +500 ) across ten mental-strength levels — from Shutdown to Unstoppable
– Daily Challenge reminders with spoken encouragement at 9 a.m.
– On-device storage only — no tracking, no login, no cloud uploads
– Designed for accessibility with dynamic type and SF Symbols

Built for resilience, not diagnosis.
Do The Hard Thing is a reflection tool, not a medical device. It does not diagnose, treat, or prevent any condition. The 988 banner exists solely for public-service awareness. All data remains private on your device, and the Speech framework is used exclusively for live intention dictation.
