### 1/5 — New payee

*2026-06-23, version 2026.12.0*

Received safety sma but can’t add new payee. Very confused about this issue.

### 1/5 — Poor app design

*2026-06-22, version 2026.12.0*

New app has a very poor design and somehow harder to use.

### 1/5 — Months to update and it’s still bad

*2026-06-22, version 2026.12.0*

I got the alert to download the app again. All the problems I had the last time around are still there - most egregiously, the inability for the app to keep a rolling update of my bank balance after purchases. I will be deleting the new app, you can pry the old one out of my cold, dead hands.

### 1/5 — No 2nd account

*2026-06-22, version 2026.12.0*

Not able to change to my second account. WTF????

### 1/5 — Terrible forced replacement for an app that worked perfectly

*2026-06-22, version 2026.12.0*

I had the original ING app for close to 10 years and have no recollection of any glitches or issues. The new app often doesn’t process payments or double processes payments instead, is glitchy, clunky, has a worse UX and even looks worse than its predecessor.

Terrible app that needs to be be improved ASAP

### 1/5 — Why ING why??

*2026-06-22, version 2026.12.0*

Booooooooooo two thumbs down, honestly this app sucks more than a straw. No idea why they changed it, considering changing banks!

### 1/5 — If I could give it zero I would

*2026-06-21, version 2026.12.0*

This app is the biggest pile of absolute garbage I’ve ever used. None of the features work. I can’t access half my accounts, I can’t transfer money, I can’t edit schedules, I can’t pay anyone or bills. This app should never have been released it’s horrific. The old one was fine this is just a buggy pile of trash. My toddler could’ve coded a better app.

### 1/5 — Terrible app

*2026-06-21, version 2026.12.0*

Bad to the point of I am going to change banks if it doesn’t get better. The other one made sense. This one doesn’t.

### 1/5 — Embarrassing

*2026-06-20, version 2026.12.0*

The reviews here speak for themselves. I am seriously considering changing banks due to the new app. There is a mountain of issues and such a decrease of usability in comparison with the previous app. UX designers should seriously reconsider most - if not all of their decisions.

### 1/5 — My accounts are gone

*2026-06-20, version 2026.12.0*

Logged in the new app, I used to see my everyday, credit card and mortgage account… Now? all gone not sure if I will even able to see them all again in app…
Please fall back to the old app, there was nothing wrong with it from a customer experience perspective

### 1/5 — Clunky Mess

*2026-06-20, version 2026.12.0*

The previous app was mostly great. It was Clear, Simple and Straightforward visually and logistically. The new app is a “dog’s breakfast”, an overwhelmingly eyesore to navigate!! I only downloaded the new app because ING gave me no real choice. However, saying that I will be moving the majority of my online banking to a Different bank. Why “fix” something when it’s Not broke?!! Not happy Jan!! :( :(

### 1/5 — A Step Backwards

*2026-06-20, version 2026.12.0*

Transaction items on the main list screen for each account don’t display the description. Any transfers between accounts within the app simply say “Transfer to (account name)” or “Transfer from (account name)”.

There is no way to rapidly visually reconcile a transfer without tapping through to its full detail.

Just as frustrating, this lack of useful information extends to transfers from other banks. If, like me, you routinely transfer from another bank into your ING account, the basic info on the transaction list is “(Name of the person who transferred to you)”. Endless entries with “(Name of the person who transferred to you)”

>>> The description of the transfer should be included in the default list display, as well as the destination or origin. This is present in the old ING app, and should be here too. <<<

Until this is addressed, the only way I’ll leave the old ING app behind is when they shut it down completely.

Latest app update as at June 20 this issue hasn’t been addressed.

### 1/5 — Not happy ING

*2026-06-20, version 2026.12.0*

As so many others have said.....why change something that wasn't broken. Whilst the old app wasn't perfect it's better than what you are offering us.
I have several account profiles and I can quite easily navigate between them on the old app. New app forget it.
I may have to look elsewhere
Disappointing ING😞

### 1/5 — Inferior app

*2026-06-20, version 2026.12.0*

This app is worst and lacks any of the old app’s functionality. Why delete an app that works fine . Absolutely disgusting from a company like this

### 1/5 — New app very disappointing

*2026-06-20, version 2026.12.0*

I’m left at a loss as to why a new app was necessary, particularly when the new one is nowhere near as functional.

### 1/5 — Worst revamp of app ever

*2026-06-20*

I honestly do not understand why ING changed the app that they were using. That was really good. It was brilliant. I still use it now until you stop me. So many things wrong I’ll just mention the ones that affect me the most when I transfer. Some money from one account to another and I put what it’s for. It doesn’t show up anymore except for if I actually click on that transaction then it shows me I don’t want to have to be doing this. This is just wasting my time. I want to be able to put my account in the order that I want them in not just savings account and everyday account separated.
I want a running total showing up for each account which doesn’t show me anything any more it just shows me how much I’ve got in the in my account that’s it when I use an FOS machine and I haven’t put their company name in there and it’s just got a proprietary Limited the old app. If I clicked on that transaction would show me the company name. Now it doesn’t do that any more. The pending transactions. That don’t show the dates any more unless I click on the transaction itself this app is such a waste of time. Seriously who’s in charge here? Whoever changed this app over should be sacked. NOT HAPPY JAN

### 1/5 — Scheduled payments page error

*2026-06-20, version 2026.12.0*

I’ve had this problem since the app updated. Absolute downgrade from the old app.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Disappointing

*2026-07-29*

I had put off upgrading to the new app for as long as possible because I liked the old one! Opening the new app. I immediately noticed that the nicknames of my old accounts are gone and had to be reset. But logging in today I noticed that when I open up each account I can no longer see what the balance was after a transaction. I have to open each transaction to see what’s happened! I get very confused looking at it. Even though the new nicknames for my accounts have been set up for awhile now when I when I look at my list of transactions it does not have the nicknames there! It just says Transfer From Savings Maximiser or Transfer From Everyday. This does not help me when I have multiple accounts of Everyday and savings Maximiser. I tried to simplify things at my end by deleting some of my account accounts and merging them but I find that even more confusing now as my entire accounting system has changed and it’s no longer easy to follow. I feel like this is a giant step back for ING and they should bring the old app back and completely delete this one. ING was fantastic when I started banking with them five years ago. They were transparent and easy to understand. We know that companies become more complicated when they’re trying to hide things. And this makes me suspicious of ING now. Such a shame!

Edit to add that the accounts are also ordered differently. I deleted an account I thought I didn’t use anymore and it turns out it was the one my pay goes into. Yes I. Should have looked more closely but seriously?! Deleting the nicknames and reordering accounts? Go to hell ING. You used to be simple and worked well. Not anymore. You broke what wasn’t broken.

### 1/5 — Worst forced app update in history?

*2026-07-14*

Being overseas without my Australian mobile, I was forced to upgrade the app after receiving warnings the current app would stop working and I would lose access to internet banking. But to update, I needed to get an Australian SIM to receive the SMS one-time PIN which is required by the new app to finish the update. It wasn’t easy but I did it, and after upgrading I was surprised that the new interface - design and functionality - seemed like something a child had done! Essential functions either didn’t work or exist such as the basic task of being able to contact ING via secure message - offered by every bank I have used. Months later, things still don’t work in the new app. Bugs I won’t bother going into. Almost every review of this app is 1 star and the bugs are endless. Customer service were totally uninformed about the app upgrade when I called them and several times I received incorrect information about whether the old app would stop working on the date mentioned in the warning. Seems like ING is cutting corners everywhere - from IT to customer service - I can’t imagine anyone investing in a company/bank that operates like this. Update: I still receive messages saying “update before the app stops working” out of nowhere, which is concerning being overseas without phone network and potentially needing a new mobile to receive a one time PIN again. So many people have switched banks because of this nightmare update.

**Developer response:** Thanks for taking the time to share your experience. We’re sorry the transition and update process has been so frustrating, especially while travelling overseas. We understand how important reliable access to your banking is. Secure Messages have been replaced with our new in app chat feature that can be found under "more'. We appreciate your feedback and have shared it with the team as we work on making the app better and improving the experience.

### 1/5 — Very disappointed

*2026-07-11*

I was forced to switch to the new ING app, and it’s one of the most frustrating banking app updates I’ve experienced. The previous app was simple, intuitive, and made managing my finances quick and easy. This redesign has done the exact opposite.

Previously, I had my accounts organised exactly how I wanted them, making it easy to distinguish between my everyday accounts, long-term savings, and credit card. The new app has removed that clarity, and it’s now difficult to quickly identify which account is which.

The biggest issue is the loss of easy access to my credit card. I used to be able to check my balance and transactions at a glance throughout the day, but that functionality now appears to be buried or missing altogether.

Another major frustration is that my partner and I could previously use the same phone and simply switch between our individual ING accounts. That feature has been removed, making the app far less practical for our household.

This update feels like a redesign for the sake of redesign, rather than an improvement to the user experience. Core functionality has been made more complicated, navigation is less intuitive, and tasks that were once quick now take far more effort.

I’ve banked with ING for years because of its excellent digital experience, but this update has seriously undermined that. Unless these issues are addressed, I’ll be looking at moving my banking elsewhere. I genuinely hope ING listens to the overwhelming customer feedback and prioritises usability over aesthetics.

**Developer response:** Thanks for taking the time to share such detailed feedback. We’re sorry the new app isn’t meeting the standard you’ve come to expect from ING. Credit cards aren’t available in the new app just yet, but they’re coming soon. In the meantime, you can continue to view your credit card through Online Banking. We appreciate your feedback and have shared it with the team as we continue to improve the experience.

### 1/5 — Not as functional

*2026-06-27*

I agree with previous reviews. I prefer the old ING app as it had better day-to-day functionality.

My biggest issue is that the transaction list no longer shows the transaction description at a glance. Instead I have to tap into every individual transaction just to see what it was for. This makes reviewing spending and deposits much more slower and frustrating.

I also miss the running balance which made it much easier to track my account and transactions.

The old app was simpler faster and more practical. While the new app looks more modern, it's sacrificed usability and it's much less functional for everyday banking.

It would also be incredibly useful if the app allowed users to manage multiple ING custom profiles for example, I am wanting to create another ING account with a separate client number that I will use for completely different purposes. Being able to securely switch between profiles within the app would be a huge benefit.

I know a lot of people are now happy that there are notifications but the in the old app you were able to set up SMS notifications when money was deposited which worked perfectly well for me.

I hope ING takes on board the feedback from the many customers expressing similar concerns. Bringing back features like running balance and visible transaction descriptions would make the app far more practical and user friendly for every everyday banking

### 1/5 — WORST BANKING APP

*2026-06-23, version 2026.12.0*

Just got a final warning access to the old app is ending in coming days. For the love of god why!? Can you not read these reviews?? No one wants this

### 1/5 — Second account option gone???

*2026-06-23, version 2026.12.0*

Original app was so much better. Why can I not add my second account? It makes life so much more frustrating.

### 1/5 — It’s just so, so bad.

*2026-06-23, version 2026.12.0*

For so long I resisted changing to this new app because honestly I was worried the update could be a scam. This app is horrendous. I don’t understand why they have made everyone change to something that is worse than what we had before? The old app wasn’t perfect but it was functional and familiar. I’ve just been trying to access my account through the new app and the advice my the helpline was to delete and app and reinstall it. Well as I feared I’m now completely blocked out. It’s so frustrating!!!! Fix it all, please!

### 1/5 — Hopeless!

*2026-06-23, version 2026.12.0*

I keep on getting told my old app will stop working. When I go to the link it supposedly updates but then I keep seeing this same msg again. Am I supposed to completely delete my old app or what? Fix it or I’m going somewhere else with my banking! So disappointing.

### 1/5 — Scheduled payments

*2026-06-23, version 2026.12.0*

When is ing going to fix the issue with scheduled/reoccurring payments, it’s been months with no access

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 4/5 — It’s pretty nice now!

*2026-04-25*

Great job acting on the feedback… pending transactions are separated under its own little heading, and the custom names of accounts are shown during payment/transfer of funds… its almost there now…

Aesthetically i am still not sure why ‘orange everyday’ needs to be repeated as a subheading for each orange everyday account when its already segregated nicely under its own section “Orange Everyday”. The “Savings account” doesn’t have Savings Account text under each account so not sure if no one realised this? Removing “orange everyday” word from underneath each account will make it streamlined with all info in just two lines - name of the account and the account details (bsb and accnt number) - i am a bit pedantic like that being a graphic designer myself, even if this doesn’t impact any functionality.

If you address this, it will be 5-star from me.

**Developer response:** Thanks for taking the time to share such detailed feedback. We can hear how much you valued the legacy app, and we’re sorry the new experience hasn’t landed the way you hoped.

We completely understand your frustration around account nicknames not appearing during transfers and payments. This is a known issue, and restoring clear nickname visibility is a priority for us, as we know how critical it is for confidence and speed when moving money. We also hear your points about pending vs settled transactions, balance visibility behaviour, and overall visual clarity. Your suggestions have been shared directly with teams.

Thank you as well for calling out what is working. Balanced feedback like yours genuinely helps shape what we improve next. We appreciate your honesty and the obvious care you’ve taken in explaining what worked better for you before.

### 4/5 — Account Name Changes

*2026-03-11*

I don’t normally leave reviews, but after being constantly advised to download the New ING App I went ahead and did it. While it looks nice, it’s quick and enjoying the notifications of incoming and outgoing payments, the webdev team really need to fix the account name changes. Yes you can change the account names, however when transferring funds between account it doesn’t show the account name changes and uses the defaulted names (orange everyday) so you have to check the account number to make sure your moving fund to the correct account. Also shows the default account name when paying via osko. What’s the point of account name changes if it doesn’t display during payments? Only annoying thing I can see that needs to be rectified asap please, it’s enough to go back to the old app.

**Developer response:** Thanks for taking the time to leave such detailed feedback, especially as this isn't something you normally do. It's great to hear that you're enjoying the look, speed and payment notifications in the new app. We hear you on the account name issue. We're on it and hope to have this one fixed soon. Make sure you are on the most up to date version of the app to make the most of new features and fixes as they are released.

### 3/5 — Still a way to go

*2026-06-18, version 2026.10.0*

I don’t understand why a new app is rolled out before it’s ready. Please can the function of copying the account details (for sharing purposes) please be the same as the previous app? That was so easy & simple & great. In this app it’s the total opposite. You just want the BSB, account & name - not just the numbers with no details & having them all separated

### 3/5 — Bad information heirarchy

*2026-04-15*

I’m getting used to the new app, it’s mostly functional, but a couple of things are still bugging me. When looking at the list of transactions, on the old app all the information was laid out clearly & it was easy to tap an entry to make to pop out for extra info without breaking the flow. Now, there’s no running tally, only the amount debited or credited, and you can only see the name for each transaction on the main page — for transaction description and other info you have to open it up as a whole page. In particular, I look at transaction description frequently, and on the current app I have to open a separate page for each transaction and scroll down to where it’s written quite small. Similarly, I renamed my ING accounts when I moved to the new app, but it seems to be basically useless as they always show up either by their numbers which are very similar, or the account type name, & I have more than one account of the same type, so this is identical — again, I have to dig through layers to figure out which account is which. In the old app it was effortless. It just feels like this app isn’t designed to be looked at by a person who’s regularly doing their budget or etc.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the thoughtful feedback. You’ll need to rename your accounts in the new app (names don’t transfer across from the old app), but once renamed, this is now fixed and your custom account names will be visible during transfers so you won’t need to rely on account numbers. We know features like running balances and clearer transaction details are important for budgeting and day‑to‑day use. We’ve shared this with our teams as we continue improving the app, and really appreciate you taking the time to explain what’s not working well for you.

### 3/5 — Good App just needs work

*2026-02-21*

Honestly this app is a lot more straight forward and easier to navigate than the older app has a lot more features to help protect your accounts, I’d actually give it a 5 star rating except two things when I transfer between my accounts it doesn’t use the names I set for accounts so I have to remember which account is which via account number, and also they’ve made it less family friendly, normally I’d have my partners account loaded on my ing app and vice versa incase we need money from each other but it’s strictly one account login at the moment, short of those things they have been proactively working on this app and fixing any bugs that have presented,
I’ve been with ING for a number of years not and honestly this app is a very welcome upgrade

**Developer response:** Thanks so much for the thoughtful review. We're glad to hear you're finding the new app easier to navigate and it feels like a welcome upgrade after being with us for so long. We hear you on the two things holding you back. The issue with account nicknames not displaying during transfers is already being worked on so keep an eye out for a fix in an upcoming update. We also understand the frustration around only being able to log in to one account at a time. While this isn’t currently supported in the new app, your feedback helps us understand how important that flexibility is for families and partners. Thanks again for your support.

### 2/5 — Quite buggy, have to switch back to the other app

*2026-06-23, version 2026.12.0*

It looks sleek but still very buggy, sometimes I could not log in with this app whilst the other/legacy app works just fine.

### 2/5 — If it ain’t broke, break it?

*2026-06-22, version 2026.12.0*

The simple orange UI of the previous app was so functional, everything needed for mobile banking. This one clearly draws on ubank and it’s such a pity. Everything is much too small (I say this as a Gen Z with great eyesight), the white contrast is much less appealing to the eye, the running tally of your balance under each transaction is missing, it’s much slower to run the app and check your balance, and overall it’s a headache to use for basic tasks. I’ve been using ING since I was 15 and I loved that it didn’t change, it just worked. So please consider turning back the clock on the user interface. Thanks!!

### 2/5 — New app thoughts

*2026-06-21, version 2026.12.0*

Hi,

I was very confused when I saw this on the App Store yesterday, but i downloaded it and wanted to see the features and try it out. If I’m being honest the new app is growing on me. There are definitely features which I’m sure customers loved and you will work on bringing them to the new app.

I wanted to ask if the new app will have the single account view feature when you login the app and then be able to swipe left and right from account to account as that was so helpful.

Will this new app also let you hide specific account but then all then to be viewed when swiping from individual account to account ??

Will this account also have the feature on clicking and getting information about a transaction like the old app.

Also do you have a date where the old app will be shutting down and we need to move over.

Thank you.

### 2/5 — Poor features

*2026-06-17, version 2026.10.0*

Can no longer share a transaction receipt unless you do it immediately. Their work around is go to the desktop version. Surely the whole point of an app is accessibility

### 2/5 — Thanks for the tiny bit of progress. Hopefully there’s a team of you, not just one person.

*2026-05-25*

Please continue to fix the following:
Running account total - I’m currently keeping my own account info on a spreadsheet - the app should be doing this work for me

Current nickname for account, not the nickname the account had when scheduled transfer was initially created. Only fix at the moment is to cancel my scheduled transfer and recreate it, which I’ve had to do.
Past scheduled transfers still only show account type not account nickname.
Please put Apple Pay in Cards, or at least provide some sort of info guide on how to find it
Please update your robot, it doesn’t even know you’ve added Apple Pay as an option

I’m still irritated that you didn’t just pay someone up front to fix all the issues before you released the “upgrade” instead of relying on all of us to do the work for free, however it’s nice to see some slow progress.
Thank you for :
- changing “orders to be booked” to “pending”
- allowing us to see our account nicknames
- showing next scheduled transfer date instead of creation date
- adding Apple Pay as an option although I don’t understand why you’ve hidden it in there. Cards would be the logical place to find it.
- allowing us to customise our home page.
